Is it really as safe as people say it is?
Is it really as safe as people say it is?
it's as safe as you make it
which people? what did they say?
Only when you use a deblobbed kernel and don't install nonfree software.
people here and other websites say that it is the most secure operating system
It can be verrryyy dangerous.
the most secure networked operating system is openbsd
more secure than Windows? yeah sure, you don't need an virus scanner and has a more secure architecture.
What do you mean by "safe"? From malware? Yeah pretty much.. From the government? Probably not.
you dont need a virus scanner on any system
you do if you're a retard that opens random exe's he found on the internet.
>botnet
>secure
yeah
this
If you don't have a clue wtf you're doing.
For the most part, yes. But that doesn't mean you can do dumb shit with wanton disregard.
Mostly, *nix is security through obscurity. GNU/Linux has the extra edge over OS X due to its FOSS nature. Lots of people say readily-available source code is insecure. I think most of Jow Forums would beg to differ.
As another user in this thread said: Linux is as secure as you make it. So spend some time reading up on the necessary precautions before you even think about using it.
security through obscurity
me big windows
me download pdf.exe
me run
It's just a kernel, not a system.
reddit pls
Only if you're an idiot.
NT is a better kernel than Linux

ask your mom
It's secure because iptables is such a pain in the dick!
That really depends on who you're listening to, and I highly doubt it's as safe as they say. But it's probably safer than whatever you're used to using, unless you're already using it.
nigga you slow... 。゚(TヮT)゚。
It's not windows 98
only if you compile it yourself and enable adequate encryption
What is a worm?
I can't believe somebody actually said this.
As a personal OS? Yes. As something web-facing? Yes if you configure it right, which is not difficult to do.
sudo rm -rf yourself
no
no it's all CIA
nothing will save you from the bones
>Is it really as safe as people say it is?
