Was igv hired by madshi or it's bullshit?
Brayden Thomas
Nobody knows. madshi said he hired somebody for some math stuff for his new algorythm. But why would it be igv?

No surprise there. SRCNN is really outdated.

What's the point of a GUI anyway? The OSC / psuedo-gui is perfectly functional and very streamlined. Why would anybody want something different?
Samuel Jones
what does that say about a brainlet like you who can't even figure mpv out?
Grayson Davis
I just started using mpv and I recognize some screen tearing, but only when playing the video (i.e. it isnt teared when paused). I'm sure it's not about the compositor because playing on YouTube works fine.
What could be the problem? My mpv.conf is empty, so I guess I'm missing some basic things every user "must have".

What's wrong with SVP?
Gavin Brooks
A lot of people like to watch choppy panning scenes and meme about the artifacts it can create if you set it up wrongly.
It's a trade off sometimes, the panning with mvtools/svp is just so much smoother and enjoyable but artifacts can occur.. but I usually just roll with it

can someone add a volume slider
Liam Sanchez
Question, how is that any better than mousewheel?

I tried mpv and didn't like it. Why would anyone want less of a gui? I feel like the mpv crowd is full of people who use command prompt instead of Windows explorer
Carson Hughes
Question, how is not having a volume slider any better?
Cooper Anderson
Windows fag here, sometimes I wish it would have at least a context menu and basic UI for bookmarks.. yes I have a script that does it quite well too.. but having a dropdown menu or a context menu listing them is a little nicer and cleaner.
But I can bear the OSC it does have, especially with AMM's thumbnail script + the chinese botnet restyle, looks decent enough.
What I mainly like is the lua script possibilities and performance and at least for now featureset.. it has all I need while not being madVR.
Noah Cox
Can any of you guys thell me, how I can set up mplayer the following:
- I want to open playlists (m3u) with a set of media files
- Mplayer should jump to the first element of the playlist when hitting the end
- Media files should repeat an infinite amount of times, until I hit the 'next' button
- (Optional) enabeling some sort of shuffle feature for the playlist
I couldn't set it up by myself after reading the manpages :/
Michael Kelly
>context menu and basic UI for bookmarks..
fyi there is a script for that
Matthew Adams
i only know for mpv. mplayer is dead.
in mpv.conf
loop-playlist
loop-file
to shuffle bind a key in input.conf
x playlist-shuffle
Levi Hall
Thx :)
I'll give it a try
Jayden Smith
The linux one might work fine, the windows one however uses tcl or so, and also messes with exclusive fullscreen.. every time you right click it it jumps out of exclusivity, pretty annoying... all in all it's very hacky and ugly
One built in would be nicer

Does crop.lua no longer work for anybody else?
The screen turns black when I'm selecting the bounds of the crop, and then it doesn't actually crop.

Sebastian Edwards
well that's not how it works in VLC, which is what most people who ask for it seem to want.
Kayden Sullivan
?
Tyler Powell
In VLC it always displays the full slider, even when your mouse isn't near it.
Kayden Evans
so? what does VLC have to do with mpv? why are you pulling VLC out of your ass?
It's like
Carson Edwards
The reason I mentioned VLC is because most of the time somebody comes into an mpv thread and asks for a volume slider, they're a "mpv is worse than VLC" troll.
Leo Williams
so, your argument against a volume slider is "no volume slider because everyone who asks for one must be a VLC troll!"?
Elijah Taylor
No, my argument was against a VLC style volume slider. I don't have anything against the idea of a volume slider that only appears when you mouse over the volume icon.
I think it's pointless, but harmless.
Justin Johnson
mpv already does that. scroll your mouse wheel on the volume icon.
Michael Reed
Scrolling your mouse wheel anywhere will change the volume. He wants a volume slider to appear when he mouses over the volume icon, presumably that he can then click and drag with the mouse.
I don't understand why he would want that, but that's what he wants.
Evan Hill
for the same reason you would want to be able to click and drag a seekbar
Colton Ortiz
>Scrolling your mouse wheel anywhere will change the volume
it seeks with mouse wheel by default.
clicking the seekbar is useful because there are thousands of seconds in a video and scrolling through all of them is slow. you do not need that with volume. it takes a half a second to scroll through the full range of volume, and it's faster than clicking the precise pixel to get the volume you want.
Kayden Edwards
I don't understand that claim. Seekbars give you very fine control over something that has a broad value range. For a 20 minute video a seekbar lets you seek precisely to one of 1200 positions in a moment.
But with volume you only need to seek to one of 130 different potions, and you never need to seek to a precise position. The difference between 48% volume and 53% volume is negligible, while in a 10 minute video the difference between 48% and 53% is a full minute; very significant.
Seek bars are useful for precision and speed. But volume sliders give you precision you don't need (but could have if you really wanted it by simply mapping it to something other than your mouse wheel) and are actually slower than using your mouse wheel (because the mouse wheel method works no matter where your mouse is pointed.)
Lincoln Sanders
>>Scrolling your mouse wheel anywhere will change the volume
>it seeks with mouse wheel by default.
Did you just have a stroke? That's exactly what I said! Scrolling your mouse wheel will change the volume. It has nothing to do with the volume button in the OSC.
Michael Cooper
You said "scrolling your mouse wheel anywhere will change the volume". It does not. Scrolling anywhere will seek the video, by default. Scrolling only changes the volume while hovering the volume icon. You have changed the binds for your mousewheel.
Jack Flores
Okay I just checked with --no-config. Scrolling your mousewheel sideways not vertically changes the volume. But I guess not every mouse does that.
Point remains that mpv has no volume slider, which is what that other user is asking for. Obviously he's too poor to afford a mouse that has any scroll wheel at all.
Leo Lee
>thousands of seconds in a video and scrolling through all of them is slow
>Seekbars give you very fine control over something that has a broad value range
Agree.
>you do not need that with volume.
>But volume sliders give you precision you don't need
Disagree. That's completely relative to each person needs/tastes. Having a volume slider is basic functionality of any media player.
No bully. mpv is lightweight, so a majority of poor setups will use it as media player.
Jayden Evans
Is there documentation for mp.assdraw anywhere? I don't see any in the manpage.
>>But volume sliders give you precision you don't need
>Disagree. That's completely relative to each person needs/tastes.
Needing precise volume control is honestly baffling to me. But I'm going to try implementing this anyway because fuck it.

I'm having trouble with this function
function draw_crosshair(ass, center, window_size)
ass:new_event()
ass:append("{\\bord0}")
ass:append("{\\shad0}")
ass:append("{\\c&HBBBBBB&}")
ass:append("{\\alpha&H00&}")
ass:pos(0, 0)
ass:draw_start()
ass:rect_cw(center.x - 0.5, 0, center.x + 0.5, window_size.h)
ass:rect_cw(0, center.y - 0.5, window_size.w, center.y + 0.5)
ass:draw_stop()
end
It makes the whole screen go black, but it shouldn't.
When I comment out one of those ass:rect_cw lines (it doesn't matter which one), then it works again. But if both of those lines are present then the entire screen goes black covering up the video (pic related)
function from: github.com
Brandon Rogers
My thinkpad doesn't have a mousewheel
Bentley Gray
Thanks
David Jackson
I adapted the code so it only draws the crosshairs across part of the window, (50 pixels(?) in each direction)
Consequently the entire screen no longer goes black, but I get a 100x100 black square in the top left corner.
function draw_crosshair(ass, center, window_size)
ass:new_event()
ass:append("{\\bord0}")
ass:append("{\\shad0}")
ass:append("{\\c&HBBBBBB&}")
ass:append("{\\alpha&H00&}")
ass:pos(0, 0)
ass:draw_start()
--ass:rect_cw(center.x - 0.5, 0, center.x + 0.5, window_size.h)
--ass:rect_cw(0, center.y - 0.5, window_size.w, center.y + 0.5)
ass:rect_cw(center.x - 0.5, center.y-50, center.x + 0.5, center.y+50)
ass:rect_cw(center.x-50, center.y - 0.5, center.x+50, center.y + 0.5)
ass:draw_stop()
end
What's going on here? I don't get it. Is this a bug? I'm about 95% sure crop.lua used to work without this black rectangle nonsense. A libass bug maybe? I have libass version 0.14.0
Dylan Perez
As I recall, holding down this button and then moving your clit mouse will send mouse wheel events.
Bentley Cooper
I had this once on a different crop script, because it was taking one of the colors from my mpv.conf (osd-color or something) and using it as the background color, instead of the transparent one.
