>being this goncerned over other's chocies

>2011+7
>cpus do not have performance gains

Only when people make retarded choices like buying a used thinkpad/ideapad

>ideapad
No one recommends those.

It's not so stupid.
>potential (or currently available) retrofits from 51nb
>great build quality and plenty of replacement parts, designed to be servicable
>business-class features like a docking port
>TrackPoint™
>mobile CPUs just had a significant enough upgrade to go for (coffin lake/ryzen with higher core/thread counts), mobile sandy bridge is still powerful and not that far behind

>20 hour battery life
>indestructible laptop
>water resistant
>modular - years of usage to come
>best keyboard on market

Why is this retarded ? The consumerism that forces you to buy a new laptop every 2 years is retarded. We already reached a point of maximum work-related usability on laptops years ago, the only reason to upgrade is if you want to play gaymes.
All I need from laptop is
>be durable for years to come
>have good battery life
>have good keyboard

I'm thinking about buying another thinkpad besides my x201
also i'm poor :(

Bought a used X200, installed old ssd, librebooted
Perfect for anything that doesn't require tons of power, I have a desktop for that though

the macbook that i had throughout college died in 2016 and i got in on the thinkpad meme. i do everything on it that i could do on my macbook for basically the same performance but the thinkpad cost literally 10x less. meme or not, it's served me well

what's the difference? just ignore the umlaut key

/thread
OP btfo

just ignore the keys, I have one too. At one point you'll just get used to typing without even looking at your keyboard

I think a lot of modern used thinkpads come from German IT companies who throw them away after buying newer ones. At least that's how I bought my T450
