All of you know about the list of browser tiers. What about creating something similar for programming languages? My version is attached in the OP-post. Supplement, advise, criticize.
Programming language tier

>Swift and Scala in god tier
>Ruby
>Perl
>excellent
dropped
Ruby and Perl are fkin good language, pajeet.
>Java
>Excellent at literally anything ever
lonely manchild really just means high iq. Also ECMAscripts like JavaScript and ActionScript are lisps, no need to duplicate them.
Because Scala is an example of a really good object-oriented language.
1999 called, it wants perl back
this is bait
>pascal
>shit tier
Yep, that's me
>C++ in GOD TIER
>Ruby in Excellent Tier
>JS in Shit Tier
>Python in Placebo Autism Tier
>HTML/CSS as programming languages
>Assembly in Lonely Machild Tier
This is wrong on so many levels
Iam okey with ur autism user, dont be angry
>long support cycle
>full cross-platform
>safety
>demand on the labor market
>>JS in Shit Tier
>This is wrong
indeed. the list needs a dedicated "below garbage" tier for JS and PHP
>C++ in GOD TIER
Are there alternatives? What else to write games and high-performance applications?
>Ruby in Excellent Tier
Now this is the best language for the web, nodiscuss.
>JS in Shit Tier
pic related.
>Python in Placebo Autism Tier
A very low entry threshold, even a schoolboy will master.
>HTML/CSS as programming languages
OK, right.
>Assembly in Lonely Machild Tier
Why not?
>css
>scam
???
> putting c on the top and assembly on the bottom
t. brainlet
But c is essentially a cross-platform assembler. It is almost as fast, but simpler.
> shitting on c++ and ruby
> defending javascript and python
What are your criteria for a good language? Your assessment is trans pajeet tier
I like u user
remove sift and scala from the list entirely,
move lua & rust up to excellent and add go
Gas the commies
what browser tier list?
>perl
>excellent
lol fucking basedlint hipster cuck kys.
.net core c# is easily excellent tier
Are you kidding me?
> hopefully these words I put together make a coherent sentence
> c is almost as fast as assembly
C makes it easy to edit the assembly code (depending on the architecture). That's why I shit on OP, C is best used alongside assembly. If you don't understand you computer architecture and assembly, you don't understand C. Simple as that.
>swift in god tier
>ruby in excellent
Lmao
This is a copy of Java, but without cross-platform. Why should C# be better than Java?
Ruby is in the correct category: it is an excellent scripting language.
but it is cross-platform and performance wise it's pretty close to c++ these days
> God tier
Clojure, Elixir
> Excellent tier
Ruby, Scala, Haskell
> Good tier
Swift, Python, C
> Mediocre tier
Java, JavaScript
> Bad tier
PHP, Fortran, C++
> Once influential but now mostly irrelevant tier
Smalltalk, Common Lisp, Erlang
god tier: c, haskell, perl/ruby, lisps
shit tier: everything else
> pretty close to c++ performance
Not if you are working on low level optimizations, graphics, or anything that involves heavy pointer arithmetic. Pointers are very powerful when they are needed, if not then sure the efficiency is similar
> shitting on java but loving the virtual machine
Why are Pale Moon and Safari being shit on while the Comodo placebos are getting praised?
Dotnet is still terrible, especially for non-windows.
The virtual machine is great, the language just sucks.
I feel the same way about BEAM and Erlang.
this
>asm in lonely manchild tier
the only manchild is you, you know that, right?
Fair enough
What's so cool about swift?
>Announced in 2014, the Swift programming language has quickly become one of the fastest growing languages in history. Swift makes it easy to write software that is incredibly fast and safe by design. Our goals for Swift are ambitious: we want to make programming simple things easy, and difficult things possible.
>assembly in manchild tier
Ever heard of embedded systems? I'd agree if you put it in some form of mostly obsolete with few good use cases tier
>erlang
Introduce hobbyist tier perhaps?
rust can go suck balls. The idea is excellent, the implementation is worse than anal rape
I agree usually a combination of both makes for the best performance and ease of code writing. Especially if you work with smaller processors
There was another list which was more accurate
it was based on profession
like it puts C, python and assembly on Hacker tier
isn't a low entry threshold a good thing? programming isn't a super secret club you know.
>Rust not in God tier
>memory unsafe C/C++ not below everything else
But what's so cool about Swift?
how is python placebo?
>HTML
>CSS
>programming language
>programming
MARKUP IS NOT PROGRAMMING! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
This reduces the salaries of programmers and makes their profession less prestigious.
>ECMAscripts like JavaScript and ActionScript are lisps, no need to duplicate them.
This. Somehow one lisp is in excellent tier, another in shit.
sage
OP is a total noob
>no FORTRAN
>no COBOL
>no SQL
OP confirmed for underage b7 or NEET.
totally agree, but C++ should be placed in wizard level too.
You can program IOS apps and money.
there is apache cordova , xamarin, etc wont learn a shitty language to write apps for shitboys.
>arch
>wizard tier
>stay autistic
That's fine. There's a lot of a money be made in the apple fanboy market.
if it works don't fix it
>C# is bad
then what's the best programming language for visual applications?
Nice to know my two favorite languages (Haskell and Erlang / Elixir) were put into "too hard for me so I don't like them" tier.
No thanks, I will keep my shitty job as firmware developer I hate to deal with UI fags.
ok you don't seem to understand the fact that you don't fucking need swiftshit to make IOfag apps .
>elder god tier
perl 6
perl is dead, deal with it.
perl and perl 6 are different languages. popularity doesn't affect the ability of a language.
>Java
>Ruby
>Good
I know about objective-c
>firefox
>mo privacy issues
lol retard kys
>pocket
>telemetry set on by default, no mention during install
>hidden tracking protection
>no Reason in god tier
>no Elixir in god tier
Shit list desu
>language works exactly as specified
>it's just slightly different than other languages
>makes the language garbage
Whatever helps you sleep at night.
>erlang
>irrelevant
Google still use it for AI research.
Personally i only care about C, hasklel and F# and ruby, but if you want to actually earn money rather than having fun, then learn java, python, C++ and probably C#.
if javascript is for pajeet normalfag hipsters, what languages should i use for web to be 100% swag for Jow Forums?
embedded java or webassembly :^)
the more you know
/thread
Actually the first time it starts up it tells you about telemetry.
>the entire "total fucking scam" category
>"arch breaks every update"
>God Tier:
JS
>Mid Tier:
Python, C++
>Shit tier:
Everything else
Safari is great, you're just suffering from sour grapes.
nigger, object oriented is so last paradigm, why is it god tier?
maybe op is a filthy boomer.
anybody who regards HTML as a programming language when its name already says its a goddamn markup language is retarded so this graphic is absolutely irrelevant.
>HTML and CSS
>programming languages
fpbp
>aurora
>no vivaldi
how old is this picture
>SAFETY
nigga
isnt' html5+css technically turing complete?
Java 10 is pretty comfy. Why do you even need other shit languages?
Lmao
How? Are there conditional statements and loops in html or css? No, so they can't be turing complete.
apparently you can code a rule110 automaton using html5+css3 and rule110 automata are turing complete

Programmers - People with a good understanding of Computer Science, what makes a program efficient and clean and maintainable etc..
