How would you compare your WA6-SE with the WA22?

Reminder that feet fags were put in the trash where they belong

I'm ok with my HD700 but want something as good, but very portable, is it even possible?

Want them to use outside, so require lots of isolation and if possible not needing an amp is a big plus, I may consider building a cmoy (or other cheap meme amp) but not having to charge extra battery is a big plus.

That's the thing, idk exactly. I think I prefer on the flat side, but some bass doesn't hurt, and I hate harsh treb
I liked the sound signature of the Pionner HRM 5
>Past headphones
Philips SHL3060, overall good 20bucks cans, but poor isolation, and harsh treb.

Local store had some modes which I tried, namely the beyerdynamics dt770, shure 440 and a less known pionner hrm 5.

Now thing is, the beyerdynamics have a treb spike that is really unpleasant to listen to, besides they are too bulky to wear outside and they require an amp, at least the 80ohm version, also it goes a bit over the budget.
The shure simply for me had no bass at all, I'm all for balanced and controlled bass, but the shure 440 simply have no bass I prefer my 20 bucks headphones over them.
As for the Pionner hrm 5, even though they have the bass a bit strong I find that they suit my tastes, they also isolate very well and work fine without an amp. Issue is that some of the few amazon reviews I found online for it and for it's sibling model the hrm6 are people complain about broken hinges after few months.
I didn't have the opportunity to test the sound of the ATH m40x, but they seem to have a brighter treb than the hrm 5 and seems that also suffers from weak hinge problems.

Any suggestions?

Durability, I don't want a headphone that breaks after few months.
I would rather buy locally than online, specially how idk how a headphone is going to sound if I buy online.

Also, how easy would it be to fix broken hinges without having to buy new parts

man.... enjoy the time before you start to crave summit-fi, so much more affordable and satisfying

topping d10 to complete your setup btw

With 250€ dollar budget what headphones are a good upgrade from dt770? I really like these but I would like to have something more neutral and level because I feel like dt770 are a little too bassy sometimes. Are DT880 a good option?

I remember when this general shilled hard for schiit, what happened?

youtube.com/watch?v=QYUUjhUiQcg

Attached: 1524470059547.png (1920x1080, 2.63M)

Schiit's marketing failed under measurements in the last year.

so they were shilled while nobody knew if they were good or not? I guess we're retarded. is that why stax is getting shilled now, because it's impossible to measure or compare?

Thanks replying, they seem have a peak at 10k, I think I find that uncomfortable.
I read that the peak at 10k is meant to simulate room acoustics, but when I do a sine wave sweep on my speakers I don't get any 8k or 10k bump, like headphones do. Becomes really harsh after some time, specially when and after walking long distances with headphones.

Attached: 2018-05-10-201917_950x568_scrot.png (950x568, 85K)

thanks for replying*

The treble peak happens at ear level, so for you to meassure it on speakers you'd need to stick a microphone inside your ears, most reviewers consider the cb-1 to be very neutral

>no feet

Listened to Focal Clear. It's not so bad.
Solid construction, nice feel. Rather heavy, generally distributed ressure on headband and earpads. At least padding is thick.
Relaxed sound overall. Less dead and disjoint in upper range than usual Audezes. Would prefer less midbass. Treble quality could be a little better.

Only a few models had been measured, and it wasn't the ones that people were buying.
>Stax
The amplifiers are not easily measured, will require some creativity on part of the tester.
Headphone as a system is easily evaluated.

I see, but I don't hear it on speakers as I do on headphones, so I can assume that my ears naturally don't amplify the 10k as much as other people's ears do?
Nonetheless I will take a look into the cb-1. and read some reviews.

ya

m50x no joke

Maybe I should consider them, but don't they suffer from the hinge problem that the m40x does? Or are they considerably better?

I'm considering buying stax, but the only amp in my price range is the woo wee, is it good enough?

:/
I would just pick the Pionner hrm 5 if it wasn't also from people complaining about hinges

I have personally measured the L300 and L700. I can confirm that as a system the distortion is below the threshold of audibility.

Close enough, i do have a couple speaker amps to use it with

make sure you buy replacement earpads. Large leather ones are extremely good at isolating sound

>Headphone as a system
Part of the signal chain.
Stax amps seem fine under moderate output, but to hear the Head-case folks tell it, they're constantly on the verge of overload.

What headphones does he own?

Attached: 1525899585963.png (1024x1024, 1.83M)

Anyone here has tried modding their stax with those big round pads?

What headphones best represent each tier of headphones?

Low Fi
Mid Fi
High Fi
Summit Fi
(Space Fi?)

stax solid state amps sell for less than that, get a full system

or buy second hand

non weeb here

can you post some "anime music"? I'm curious

Those tiers are retarded, many expensive headphones are too colored to be considered high fidelity, tiers should be:
I need headphones
I want headphones
I fap to headphones
I hate myself

>(Space Fi?)
No air, thus no sound.

M40x

Wa6-se is a little forward and closed in, doesn’t handle congested passages as well. At the same time both wa6-se and s.e.x have an immediacy to their presentation that pulls you in and is very engaging. Still trying out tube combos with the wa6-se. wa22 is little laid back, larger more layered front to back presentation that is in front of you and out of your head. Of course a lot of that depends on the recording. My source is fully balanced and I bought my wa22 before jack added phase splitters so can’t really compare the two amps single ended to single ended outs from my source.

Schiit and Sennheiser

You could look for customs with that budget. I remember Custom Art in Poland has a 3 driver one for around 525 euros.

Some people don't like neutral sounding headphones though.

You have to be listening very loud, even with omegas. The head case people have an obvious conflict of interest.

>bright sound signature

Anything from Hatsune Miku

her butt is very cute and makes me feel lonely

And that's ok, but they should not call them high fidelity when they're not
It's the same with tubes, you may enjoy the way they sound but they're by design low fidelity

youtube.com/watch?v=hUunR4r2E9k

literally not anime music
anime music technically refers to music used in anime, i.e. the OSTs for various anime. This makes it not a genre, but a category of music grouped together merely by origin/commercial use. That said, the anime industry, like any industry, has a target demographic, so while "anime music" isn't really a genre, the range of genres it includes could be considered narrow in the scope of all music.
here's a couple anime songs I like:
youtube.com/watch?v=ndH6UqA0QSo
youtube.com/watch?v=Wz-pNcgYo0c
youtube.com/watch?v=6BTKxZbgwVo

weebs that enjoy anime music are really missing out by keeping themselves only to music used in anime they like, or anime in general, as there are a lot of great japanese artists with a far greater range of sounds.
sorry for my pedantry and spergers.

Old music was made to be played back on tubes as that's the only thing that existed back then, so that's not entirely true.

thank

whoops, meant to say "thank you!"

not at all, thank you for the indepth answer, just what I was looking for

Attached: 1506628849836.jpg (3304x2195, 1.48M)

And that was lower fidelity
Fidelity means to accurately reproduce the original, the more you color the sound the lower the fidelity

The crux of the issue is that we don't know what neutral is. We know what it isn't, by the way. It isn't the HD600, that's for damn sure.

so hd6xx + schiit are the official headphones of reddit

what are the offical headphones of Jow Forums then?

Fidelity is accurate reproduction of the source. Neutrality is the accurate reproduction of the artist's intention. You are coloring the sound and thus are not neutral.

h600 + schiit

...

reddit hates schiit now

stax is ours

Then no headphone can truly be high fidelity

good

fidelios

This is true due to the circle of confusion and lack of standard for audio reproduction + recording

Hell, it's about time

Is transparency a meme?

I have a pair of K701s and aside from the raping my ears raw on anything other than acoustics they sound pretty nice, but it never really feels like I'm there with the instrauments, the sound feels fake, like it's coming from my headphones, would upgrading to another pair of midfi phones like HD600 actually make it feel like I'm with the instraments?

Attached: 1511080236389.png (500x500, 33K)

buy stax

You'd just be sidegrading to another sound signature

>ear rape

This is why I bought the hd 650's, you won't have that problem.

>feels fake

The hd 650's have good sound separation.

K701 has exaggerated soundstage which can make things sound more artificial than they should.

Can someone make a beta closed headphones vs chad open air?
