I go to conferences for work on a near monthly basis, and typically there's little color-coded stickers you can put on your pass to say if you want to talk or not. And some of them do the pronoun ribbons.
If you don't like it don't do it? It takes 15 extra seconds at the setup booth to place them on your pass and it makes some people happy. Seems worth it to me.
