xfce

xfce

Acceptablol is lxde
Magnificent is Xfce

Budgie

Xfce

desktop metaphor is deprecated

The one that works best for you. Linux isn't a one-size-fits-all OS.

i3, dwm, awesome, bspwn

Trinity

KDE Plasma
MATE
Budgie
LXQT
Cinnamon
XFCE

There, 6 for you.

>XFCE

android

Lumina.

There is no such thing. The only acceptable solution for X11 is using a window manager rather than pulling an entire DE along with the kitchen sink.

Emacs

The rest of Jow Forums is pretty elitist about DEs. Unpopular opinion, GNOME is good enough. Stock Ubuntu 18.04 (minimal) is good enough.

Xfce

Xorg

It's actually called "Linux/GNU".

This.

Although my favorite is Cinnamon.

Unity 8

i3

xfce

based basedposter

Xfce + open box.

i3

GNOME

Xfce if you want a whole DE, i3 otherwise.

kde3.5

gnome

>desktop environment

I use XFCE and Arch together

It's great

fpbp

If by acceptable you mean free as in freedom (GPLv3 licensed) then most of them.

Despite what a ton of faggots around here who haven't even used linux except in 10 minute spurts in a VM might say, GNOME is the only acceptable answer.

Xfce and LXDE are the only DEs worth using, the rest are too bloated.

yes

i use xfce plus i3wm and it works great
try it sometimes

Most DEs + i3 makes for a great combination

lxde

crunchbang

icewm-lite > fluxbox > openbox

xfce best de

What I like about xfce is this: When I use gnome, I think about how I'm using gnome. When I use KDE, I think about how I'm using KDE. When I use xfce, I think about what I'm doing on my computer.

lxde is better than xfce

I've never really used lxde so I can't say. I'm happy with xfce though.

Emacs (EXWM)

lubuntu

Too bad it died.

KDE is very hardware dependent. You have to turn off desktop composition for it to be okay.

Kde

I3 is unironically the best DE

I don't know any "GNU"/Linux desktop environments. I know about lots of Linux distros though

XFCE for sure.

xmonad or bspwm

I feel like it's a bit too barebones for me to use it as my main DE, but on the toasters I have around I like it very much, even if trying to rice it beyond basic theming is a pain in the ass.

MATE is the Windows 2000 of *nix DEs.

Not a de u fag

You better run it on Debian tho.

xfce you fucking degenerate

>desktop environment.
The true nature of GNU/Linux disallows a proper implementation of DE's, tools are designed independently of a DE and user are expected to build their environment according to their needs instead of the other way around, DE concept is something very limiting and only a normie from widnows would ask for something like that

MATE

KDE
LXQT
XFCE

This

Hurd

Your mental prowess are to great for this board. Leave now.

i3 with gaps

How do I learn openbox or i3?

xfce isn't dead, there's commits all the time, they just haven't done a major release since 2015 or so. xfce doesn't follow modern release model. quality over quantity imo

GNOME is the only acceptable answer.

>screen tearing everywhere
>no compositor

dwm with suckless tools

K D E

xfce has a built in compositor. you can also run compton or whatever else instead. your greentext is false.

xfce
(new KDE has low memory footprint but probably needs some love to be useable)

Spending some time with it the basics are easy
I use i3

>acceptable
GNU+Linux is all about the freedom to choose; there is no such thing as an ""acceptable"" DE.
