wrong website mate

Xfce on debian

He's not wrong, you're wrong, stupid Jow Forumsoon.

...

pff DE-pleb. Tiling ftw, i3 Masterrace

>thinks DE and tiling WM are mutually exclusive
kek, what a fa/g/

cinnamon on debian or void

>Void of project leader
>replaced by ponyfags
No thank you.

KDE is as good as XFCE.

kde is trash. not as bad as Guhnome but still terrible

Budgie

No DE is best DE

i3

I will bash your fucking face in

this, to make a WM usable you have to turn it into a DE. The moment you have a file manager, manage fonts, have a browser, notifications, a panel, etc you already have a DE.

This

I can't, also, judging by your distro you have the power of this whole community, you've got that cameleon in your pocket, got that penguin on your feet, that's the way that SUSE rocks it, it just works fenomenally~

It has worse defaults than Xfce and isn't as stable.

>this, to make a WM usable you have to turn it into a DE. >The moment you have a file manager
In terminal
>manage fonts
No
> have a browser
Yes
>notifications
No
>a panel
No
>etc you already have a DE
No

>no proper file manager
>no notifications
>no panels
>better?
Yeah no, I like to get shit done on my computer.

What this ni/g/ger said.

LXDE! :)

>>no proper file manager
Ranger is a proper file manager.
>>no notifications
For what? I have literally never used them.
Though if you want, you can simply install dbus. Than would not make it any more DE.
>>no panels
Why do you need them to constantly eat up space?
Either make them toggleable or replace.
>>better?
For sure. But not for everyone.
>Yeah no, I like to get shit done on my computer.
What shit can't you do without notifications and panels? Rice your desktop?

Cinnamon.

>Why do you need them to constantly eat up space?
Not him but you arch ricers are fucking retarded, a panel (i.e a status bar) is literally required for day to day use, for example, to see time/apps, manage audio/wifi etc. I don't intend on opening alsamixer everytime I want to modify volume.

Please post a screenshot of your desktop. I bet you have lemonbar installed to basically be a panel and have a tiling WM with gaps.

Don't you have volume keys?

What icon pack is that?

I do but that's a cop-out. Not all systems have them, on top of that most tiling WM's don't interact with the keys without editing configs or whatnot. I prefer using the slider most of the time.

Truely a modern, good looking, optimized DE for the modern man. If only the dark-theme was better.

A cop-out? To me they're more comfortable than using the slider. And for editing configs, it takes 5 minutes.

>Install empty bar
>search for the info to set it up online (or read man pages)
>after a couple of minutes maybe find bits and pieces of what you're looking for
>spend more time setting things up
>if you are lucky everything works
>maybe you've made a type and spend some time editing configs
All of this IF you find the specific implementation for your specific use case/system

Compared to
>Just log in
>everything is there

You are yet to post your desktop.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH ALL THE GOD DAMN XFCE SHILLING

Best desktop environment is crunchbang

kde is bretty gud ok hun

>Not him but you arch ricers are fucking retarded
Dont have an arch.
>a panel (i.e a status bar) is literally required for day to day use
For what?
>for example, to see time/apps
You can see it by pressing a hotkey. To toggle panel or something else.
>Manage audio
Hotkeys
>wifi etc.
What's the use case?
If you are in unfamiliar environment, just launch nm-tui or something.
> I don't intend on opening alsamixer everytime I want to modify volume.
Me neither.

>Please post a screenshot of your desktop. I bet you have lemonbar installed to basically be a panel and have a tiling WM with gaps.
Later. I don't have lemonbar. I launch conky from the hockey when I require system info.

This, cinnamon or mate, they just werk. Anything else either sucks or is meme tier.

If I'm going to install a full DE, it's going to be lxQt.
I use a tiling WM though

KDE werks better for me but mostly because it's easier to configure for the most part.

i like to keep a system with a DE installed running for when i want shit to just work (transferring pictures off phones, cameras, etc.)

i traditionally have been using lxde since its the least bloated. once pcmanfm-qt gets dual pane, i will switch to lxqt

>Install empty bar
What?
You literally just set global keyboard shortcuts for amixer/light/whatever.

Using a DE.
