Fuck off I wrote a 2-D search weighted web scraper using RSS to fetch the articles.

I also have feeds from favourite websites on my computer.

Don't you have to be 18 to post here?

it's used every day by hundreds of millions of people who listen to podcasts, you little runt

I'm pretty sure most torrent clients have a automatic downloader for RSS feeds.

itt things that underages don't have idea about

this is like thinking you don't use java everyday.

my torrenting would be arduous without it pleb

This. I use RSS every day to automate my anime downloads.

this

also:
- IRC (but muh DISCORD!!!11 cheg out new fancy Jow Forums general with le ebin DISCORD SERVER!!!!!!!)
- actually owning your music instead of paying Spotify to cuck you monthly

Shut the fuck up I use RSS every day for textboard updates and new posts.

My entire news feed is based on RSS, including youtube and twitter, and my torrenting aswell to some degree
I haven't browsed the internet for information in nearly 2 years since I get about 10 news/movies/whatever articles an hour like this

There is such a thing as pirating Spotify, did you know that?

>pirating 92kbps mp3s
Miss me with that, you can literally find better quality rips on shitty torrent sites.

And why would I waste all that time and effort for no noticeable difference? All the music I like are low quality recorded anyways.

But have you taken it a step further?
After I get my rss animes I launch Kodi and it automatically scans them in for home theather consumption later.

I am pretty sure pirating readily tagged and compiled albums from a torrent site is better than ripping from spotify like some type of nigger.

there is with anything under 320kbps
there's no noticeable difference between 320 and flac though, at least on my non-audiofag setup

RSS is news, blogs, porn and youtube in just one place.

You can download songs from Spotify so you don't have to stream them.

>tfw used spotify for almost a decade now

If you pay for it and you still have no absolute control over anything.

I support my fake news reading habits on pre-2000 systems using a website that scrapes and archives articles from major news sites using their RSS feeds.

>you still have no absolute control over anything.
fucking good, you know how much I don't miss having to retag and curate a massive collection of shit I barely listen to and keep it consistent across all of the systems I use? miss me with _that_ shit.

All the current news aggregators try to "learn" about me and then start recommending shit I don't want. Just because I'm interested in the Russia investigation news story doesn't mean I want the ultra liberal unsourced version of Breitbart showing up in my news feed. Plus RSS lets me subscribe to smaller more particular feeds like lego feeds, sneaker feeds, and cooking feeds

I don't pay for it, I pirate it and use it to download songs so I don't have to stream it later. Plus they have reccommended albums if I want to find some new artists I like.

very very cool

I wrote my own RSS reader because all the google reader alternatives were shit and/or PHP.

It's nothing really special, just a Python script activated by a cron job that hooks up to a database of feeds, iterates through the entries and then spits out the linked articles in plaintext using the Newspaper library.

It works pretty well, lets me read articles from most major sources on browsers going to Mosaic 1.x and probably earlier. The picture is what it looks like on Netscape 4.08 on HP-UX. Kicks ass for old tablets too.

the whole point of pirating it is so you don’t have to pay for it you brainless fucktard

IRC is trash and always has been.

All remaining somewhat active servers are not secure.

And you have absolutely no reason to pay for a Spotify premium, because the only difference is you'll get 30 second ads every hour, which can be blocked by adding a few lines in the hosts file.

T9.
I love it, but I don't think anyone else have used it.
The letters are visible on the android lock screen but it doesn't do anything.
Some android keyboards have the layout, but it isn't correctly implemented.
TV's still use qwerty+arrow keys to type when they could just have implemented T9.
Phones have optimized qwerty to adjust for the users inability to hit more than 2 correct keys in a sentence.
Even blackberry phones think a qwerty keyboard is the best option as they are too dumb to program a proper T9.

I use RSS to use a non-botnet youtube
fuck off, a lot of people use it and it's really useful

Your mom knows you are posting in the internet without supervision?

Reddit and the end of google reader killed rss. The jews did it again!

Have used RSS every day for the past decade. Go back to Twitter you blatant homosexual.

You have to be 18 to post here

Reddit spacing

>he isn't used to writing markdown and double-spacing lines

boy sure must suck to be unemployed user

>t. ex redditor trying to fit in
"reddit spacing" existed before reddit you fucking newfag

i semi-recently got into using an RSS reader, since i've started watching too many different youtube channels and it was becoming a pain manually checking them

so you make an account and subscribe...
even youtube themselves will give you an rss feed

RSS has yet to be replaced.
Newfags may think Twitter is good enough, but the sheer amount of things you can do with RSS to have a catered feed from so many sources makes it the best aggregator.
More so if you self-host your reader.

I'd rather let Sonarr do that.

Retarded bait thread.

>so you make an account and subscribe...
i don't want or need to make an account
>even youtube themselves will give you an rss feed
that's what i'm using, you don't need an account for them

>even youtube themselves will give you an rss feed
they stopped doing that.
now only channels have RSS feeds, you don't get a personalized feed for your subs.
>make an account and subscribe...
not him but YT subscriptions are very inflexible and need of an overhaul.
One thing you could do with RSS is group multiple channels in folders and view each folder like it's own subscription feed.
This way you can divide it all up by topic or content type.
Currently all channels are mixed together and all videos are treated as just as important as others.
You also can't filter out types of videos a channel produces that you don't like, you have to subscribe to the entire channel and whatever they upload.
With RSS you can very easily filter that out.

yeah but you used to be able to group your subscriptions, now everything just get dumped on a big pile

>Owning
Fucking this, only problem is I have to wait a couple minutes before I listen to a new artist, but thats a worthwhile sacrifice in the long run seeing as I can then listen to that forever
