My aim is to install Xubuntu on it anyways, since it should be less intense on resources than Windows 10 and battery life should be better too as a consequence. Btw according to most tech websites I have checked the Acer Swift 1 is a good cheap low-tier netbook.

OP when I was homeless and living in a camper at one point I used an HP stream 13 with less ram and storage than that and a weaker CPU. I actually PREFERRED it to most other laptops because you'll notice that they're not only super light but fan-less.
For music/movies and web browsing they are wonderful machines.
I suggest you install whichever distro you like and a light DE/WM. I believe I used arch and xfce on mine.

The item description clearly states that it's got the "Backlit tangentbord" so I'm fairly sure it's got a backlit keyboard.

The Acer Swift hasn't arrived yet so I can't say how bad it and it's N4200 CPU really is just yet. I'll be able to share more in a few days when it's arrived and I've replaced the stock Windows infestation with Fedora's XFCE4 spin.

Fan-less does sound sweet. I guess we can't have both quiet and a lot of power (and a relatively cheap price)

Honestly haven't looked at laptop prices in quite a while so I hadn't noticed. What I have noticed though is that most laptops STILL come with a garbage TN panel, little or no storage and a 1990s-tier 720p webcam - even if they are $1000 or $1500. This is part of why this cheap Acer Swift seems like an acceptable compromise, it may have a weak CPU and little RAM and small eMMC SSD but at least it's a 1080p IPS on it.

I used it with ubuntu 18. Trackpad works even worse than on win10, fingerprint scanner is not working too, but anything else is okay.

Battery lasts 5-6h with light load (office, web) at medium brightness. I haven't noticed any difference between win10 and ubuntu.

This is something I am really curious about, I'm not entirely sure all the models have a M2 slot in them. I'll probably add a 128 or 256 GB stick in there if it does, if it doesn't then that would just suck. Kind of gambled that it has, I noticed the same model is sold with a 128 GB SSD for about 1000 SEK more. I figured it was worth gambling that it does have that M2 slot since a 256 GB M2 is 900 SEK (which would give me 64+256 GB instead of 128 GB for the same price).

idk about the Swift, but I just got an Acer Aspire and the backlight is programmed to turn off after 30 seconds of inactivity. There are no settings to fix this. It might be the worst thing since racial diversity. I keep that shit off and just let my eyes adjust to the keys in the dark.

Use tax, when your state charges you the equivalent of their sales tax when you buy out of state. Most non shithole states just have arrangements with shops to tax up front.
