Windows 10 updates break everything

Anyone else getting tired of this shit? At least with Apple products you look forward to an upgrade to fix things and have new exciting things. With Windows 10 I dread it.

Everytime I upgrade...

>headphones with soundcard no longer work
>spend an hour figuring out and downloading old driver
>now a F drive shows up and the computer bitches about it having no memory left
>find out it's a temp file for the update
>should have gone away

Now I can't even get rid of it. I can't even right click on it in the disk management tool to unassigned it the F designation. What do?

Install Linux mate

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB doesn't have this problem.

actually it doesn't even have updates it's like one or two per month, it just werks

they have no need to beta test their shit internally because w10 users like you are doing it for them for FREE

Mr. user, iOS != MacOS.
You can link pic about bug found in macOS but doesnt matter, they just found 2-3 bugs per year in MacOS while every windows update destroy ur fking PC.

No, u piece of shiet. We have to work eith various applications and dont have time to spend 37367485949263 hours to configure wine and vm shit.

upgrade to windows 7

"b-b-but it's old!" - trend following consumerist drone

It very much doesn't. I gave it a try last month and day 1 "security" updates locked me in a loop.

what is this an image for images?

This happened to me to. Windows 10 auto updated despite me telling it not to, and managed to fuck up one of my hard drive partitions that has client photos on it. Took me 15 hours to fix it, made me miss a deadline

How can the biggest operating system in the world be such fucking garbage??

Works on my machine.
Have you tried changing out the washer between the chair and the screen?

Works on my machine, nigger!

hooktube.com/watch?v=RRqluBt7jY0

Nobody asked you, wh*toid.

how do you fuck it up so bad? Seriously grandparents get the update and don't have the problems you do, actually millions of people it just works... not sure how retarded you have to be to fuck it up that bad?

>tech support all over the world shifted gears to "full time W10 maintenance" basically the day that piece of junk launched
>"No shut up W10 just works, it's the users who are stupid!"

Moved back to win7 on my laptop since I use it for getting shit done.

You newer knew with win10 when it'll force update on you or make computer burn through battery with shit like officeclicktorun and other spy shit.

Tried linux again not long ago but that shit is still not usable as desktop and will probably never be.

Of all the major W10 updates (Creators, Anniversary, etc.), the current one (April update) is one of two updates that didn't break anything (usually DTS surround sound doesn't work after a major update for me).

In fact the current one fixed a Blue Screen Error I'd been getting for a couple of days before I updated (atikmdag.sys was causing BSDs and rolling back the video card drivers didn't fix the problem...)

But yes, I generally agree with the sentiment that Microsoft needs to test their updates more vigorously before rolling them out...

fuck off you need a volume license for that shit and no I don't want to pirate like some nigger thieve.

>buying windows
Oh man, comedy gold.

I don't have this problem and I don't even use LTSB, I use the most generic version in Windows 10 (Home SL).

Even m$ prefers windows being pirated for private use but I guess they also have to offer something to suckers that want to pay to feel complete.

I am not poor I would buy it but I don't own a business to get a volume license.

>Even m$ prefers windows being pirated for private use
Source?

How do you guise get these issues...

Been on the latest update for a month now and no such issues. It's working alright. Win10 enterprise, non-ltsb version.

No forced updates, no forced restarts,, no major issues or bugs, nothing really broke.

does anybody work with remote desktop much? holy shit i dont understand how a company as large as microsoft could so completely fuck so many aspects of RDC in 1803. as if 1709 wasn't bad enough.

Same here, no issues. I think it's just freetards trolling.

>Microsoft business group president Jeff Raikes commented on the benefits of software counterfeiting. "If they're going to pirate somebody, we want it to be us rather than somebody else," he said.

>unbuntu
Absolute stagnant shit

I loathe Windows 10's feature updates. Not only do they take an ungodly amount of time and reboots they also fucking uninstall RSAT for some reason.

This is why I run Linux at home.

(bad) luck of the draw man

depends entirely on your hardware

you can't and you shouldn't delete drive F
if you want to not assign it a drive letter then don't (it shouldn't have a drive letter to begin with. seems to be a windows update bug)
it's critical for system operation (to boot) so don't fuck with it

Bitch

they want to fit in really hard

>Windows 10
bich lasaga OS

It's a feature!

Pajeet my son

>How do you guise get these issues...
Half of them are real issues people encounter (makes sense, millions of people, variety of hardware, people love tinkering with shit), the other half is just mindless shitposting.

>uses perpetual beta operating system
>is somehow not fine with it breaking
just move on to an os that is not in beta you tool

works on my machine desu

This is why anybody sane installed Linux after Windows 7. It's literally easier to set up Arch or Funtoo once than it is to try and maintain Windows 10 for any length of time

Fucking Photoshop reports 3gb instead of the 8 I have on my Surface book. And it's the 64bit version.. This is since I updated earlier today..

>he actually uses Windows 10

Disable all the automatic shit and Win10 is fine. Plus make backups at least once a month.

I used to have this problem and then I uninstalled all my sound drivers and reinstalled them from the website

It doesn't support my GPU. Fucking botnet autocorrect.

So, you did manually what every other OS worth a damn does automatically? Good shit.

Yes, I did. Not arguing that windows 10 is good just trying to help OP

The only thing that's going to help OP is replacing Windows 10 with something sane.

You forgot about the part where he continued that by saying it's because they don't want people to use other products and that they hope those people will eventually pay for license. It's not because they actually prefer people to pirate it.

I'm ready to give up and run Windows 7 at this point, what a fucking joke of an OS.
Has anyone seen a similar problem with audio drivers? Trying to diagnose the problem leads to a rabbit hole of unanswered MS forum questions and stack overflow posts.

>image for ants
moron

Gave up on Windows (Win 7 Pro / Spy 7 Pro) completely 12 months or so ago & haven't looked back.

>Decide to upgrade Hackintosh
>Somehow manage to screw up
hmmmmmmm

I like to play video games and stream football games and my 2600K doesn't support VT-d for VM passthroughs so I can't get rid of it entirely.

The Windows drive wasn't even plugged in, it was likely the jump from EFI to EUFI that rendered the drives unbootable.
Are you implying the EFI has something to do with Windows drivers? Cause that's dumb.

I cant even update that crap, getting 0x008..bulshit.... error 10 times in row. I am going to install Linux because even that is less pain.

>Updates Arch
>Everything still works
>Update Windows
>PC becomes unusable
I love this timeline

I use Ubuntu Mate as my main OS, but i also need windows for some software. Is Windows 7 still the only "good" windows there is?

Attached: 1503494896736.png (200x193, 30K)

Not OP, but I had the same problem and all I did was okay the update prompt (no forced install) to install this morning. It seemed like it messed with my audio ports as what was there normally was outputing sound somwhere else (ex. Speaker output would come from headset output, and headset and mic would just totally vanish). I played around with them for a bit but came up empty handed. Ended up just reverting to previous version and doing that fixed everything. This is the first and only problem I've ever had with W10.

>Install Ubuntu
>Computer boots everytime
uh huh
youtu.be/6lbgtZw-pYQ

if your monitor uses sound then it'll use your monitor. honestly the fix is as simple as opening your sound settings and changing your default device.

Jow Forums will complain about everything desu

Might dodge this bullet for now.

Even if it works, I heard 1803 cucks Enterprise/Education editions - any idea what has changed?

Attached: Capture.png (887x769, 45K)

I don't know how to use a computer but my PC used to turn on in a few seconds and now it's taking like half hour, what can I do.

Works on my machine. The only thing I'm tired of is seeing incompetent users on Jow Forums and falseflagging linux nerds who try harder than vegans to try and shove their bad life choices down everyone elses throats.

Complains, reinstalls packages, reinstalls the who damn OS

Doesn't even checked the fucking logs. Doesn't boot into a recovery shell, doesn't boot without x-windows.

Oh no! I tried everything and computer didn't work for me. This fgft may as well be on Windows X.

Wait a sec, are you trying Linux doesn't Just Werk™ like you faggots constantly go on and on about? Color me surprised!

Wait a sec, are you telling me if something goes wrong in Windows you don't even bother checking the event log or examining the crash dump?

Linux typically just werks, this guy just hasn't done due diligence.

>officeclicktorun
What the fuck is this shit anyway and how do I disable it without rendering my office suite useless?

Of course, but again, why gimp yourself by forcing yourself to use Linux on the desktop when all the purported 'advantages' turn out to be desperate ramblings by counter-culture nerds?

Ok, whatever, go back to mai gaymes & office fag.

>You mean to tell me you use a desktop OS to do desktop things? What a fag!

Whoa, really made me think

Suck Steve Ballmers dick spyware cuck.

Just realise you can do this in 1803. I'm sure they will hide some of the botnet files though. There's no way they would give the consumers all the information about which one will be sent to Microshit.

Update on my desktop seems to have not gone down well, explorer likes to hang up. No problems with 10 before that. Shit's pissing me off, the hardware is a little old (Core 2 Quad, 8GB RAM, basically a Dell XPS 630i upgraded the shit out of) but that shouldn't be enough to fuck it over.

The update came with my 10 install for my new laptop when I downloaded the latest ISO, no problems there.

I literally cannot even update my w10 even if I wanted to. bsod during instal. Not sure if it is a good or a bad thing tho and honestly don't give 2 shits about it.

Where can I get a windows 10 key? Newest update fucked my OS so had to reinstall, lost the free product key I had.

How is it people on Jow Forums of all places have so many issues with Windows and computers in general?

It will automatically detect the key from your hardware IIRC.

Update fucked my SSD, it isn't reading shit from it. Can you still keygen a product code? Haven't bothered pirating an OS for almost a decade.

I have LTSB and every day I get a pop up that tells me my windows license going to expire "soon." What the fuck?

Get Microsoft Toolkit, but beware with the scammed file. Get it from mydigitallife or leldit.

>user has no input, windows just automatically does things arbitrarily
>it's totally the user's fault

I can't tell if you're pretending to be retarded or pure retarded.

What? I've never had it happen to me on any other OS, but now all of a sudden my OS is "expiring" and presumably I won't be allowed to use it anymore. Microsoft doesn't give any fucking details in the pop up other than a vague prompt to buy another license key. I kind of expected a long term support branch to be operable for more than 2 years. I'm already preparing to move all my shit to linux after this.

Windows keeps telling me the leddit version is a virus...

>Windows breaks with updates
>OpenSUSE does break (rarely), but it provides working snapshots, so you can fix everything.

>no forced updates
>no forced restarts
Why lie? It's common knowledge that windows 10 does this shit and microsoft will proudly admit it.

False positive.

I've never ever had any issues at all with windows updates, do you use shitty hardware or how do you manage to do this?

>apple upgrade fix things
Had to fix a MacBook for a friend, after a major update it just gave this stupid icon.
Apparently only solution was to nuke the drive

But yes, windows update sucks and always did, yesterday it started giving errors cause it can't update to 1803. this isn't the first time and I treated this installation with great care, it's a few months old
