ubuntu

Linux Mint

Linux mint is good if you don't want to learn anything and just want an os to browse things
If you want to actually learn Linux, configuring it etc I'd recommend Ubuntu or even Debian. You'll get used to it in a week at most.
And mint has outdated repositories :^(

I'd recommend starting with a Debian based distro, the first two posts are good. If you decide not to go with a Debian based distro, the only one I could recommend in good faith is Solus. Been my daily driver for over two years.

UNBUNTU WINS!!!

>Do you want a working computer ?
Mac OSX or Windows 10

>No?
Ubuntu

>Do you really hate not having a working computer and enjoy fucking with your daily driver PC, potentially bricking your files every single fucking time you do any update?
Any other distro

>do you want a working pc without troubles?
manjaro

Ubuntu : Linux Mint = Windows 10 : WinXP Gold Edition

Sorry, but the pajeet at microsoft chose to update my pc. I'll reply in a few hours.

Debian stable with Cinnamon. Thank me later bro. It's just like windows.

thanks, Jow Forums, I guess I'll start with Debian

Solus Linux is pretty out of the box and has a lot of quality of life improvements

>not disabling automatic updates so that you can update at your own leisure.
nu-Jow Forums everybody.

you're making a mistake. everybody know's ubuntu is babbies first linux and that is where you should start. trust me user

why do you even ask you will distrohop anyway

anyway my recommendations are:
fedora 27 > debian > manjaro
i would stay away from ubuntu since its defaults make me want to kms.
also get xfeces or kde, the rest of des are completely unusable imo (get a theme like youtube.com/watch?v=GR2y0xOIIdI ) for xfce

I tried Solus linux once. I'll never make that fucking mistake again.

Try these distros if you're a noob:
Linux Mint, Kubuntu or Xubuntu.

Lubuntu it's good if you want something smaller/light

You will first install mint/ubuntu. Then, after seeing some r/UnixPorn posts you'll want to customize your de, so you'll install Arch and spend 6 hours trying to get your bluetooth headphones to work, then you'll post in a desktop thread, the pacman -Syu will break your system, then you may install gentoo, post in a desktop thread again, get no replies and rethink your life, maybe you'll go back to windows after you stop caring, then after a while, you'll install mint/ubuntu/debian and repeat the entire process at least two more times before finally settling on mint. Enjoy.

Correct and check'em
