first for pimpmykeyboard is way too god damn expensive
Nathan Phillips
The only people who think Topre is any good at all are those who are desperately trying to validate their meme purchase after they realized that they overpaid for trash.
Matthew Baker
someone's gotta pay for the new tooling
Gabriel Carter
Is that how they justify it? I'm considering paying the retarded markup anyway, just so I can get exactly what I want.
Dylan Brooks
mfw i spent $70 on this set and didnt realize they arent even double shot
>$180 on plain grey and white oem(?) profile keycaps there's something wrong with you.
William Morales
but muh colors
Isaac Taylor
What makes you think you can't have colored doubleshot caps?
Owen Anderson
>muh colors >can't even have legends lighter than the base color
Jaxson Ward
I wanna try new flavors, what cherry mount linears should I get lads
James Nelson
doubleshots are still better in that regard
Ayden Torres
can you link me to where you find the mod for the xt keyboard with long keys at the bottom?
Adrian Rodriguez
oh nevermind I see someone just put a keyboard inside the casing
Jordan Watson
Yeah alright fuck it, I think I'm gonna get a 60% set from them.
I wanna do dark grey blank alphas with slightly darker modifiers. Or maybe the other way around. Either way, which is darker in person, GSF or GQT? They both look pretty close, so it's hard to tell.
Aiden Cruz
how good are zealios? should i spend on them? or just stick to mx browns?
Zachary Bailey
You should get literally anything that isn't browns, newfag.
Nigga what are you looking fo? Tactile, clicky, or linear?
Jaxon Harris
too busy typing on my new keyboards. It is not dead, but the hobby has always been niche.
Evan Brown
I like tactile the best. Clicky is annoying and I don’t see myself spending money on linear.
Angel Cook
What is your budget? Zealios is undoubtedly the most tactile cherry mx stem switch but they are overpriced as fuck. Topres are also fucking overpriced. At this point I would just get a cherry mx clear keyboard
Connor Bell
if you want a long lasting durable switch get topres if you want cheap switches get a keyboard with clears and mod them into ergo clears
Cooper Rodriguez
I’d like to keep it below $150, and Zealios caught my eye. Topre is too expensive imo. Never heard of ergo clears tho, gonna google it
Adam Wright
Don't listen to the Topretards. It's a waste of money.
Isaiah Baker
you can get a type heaven for around 140 if you wanna get a feel for topres, though the keycaps are ABS as opposed to the PBT you get on the realforces
Landon Russell
I could've sworn reading somewhere that doubleshots can't do multi-colored legends
Ayden Diaz
it's the other way around
Ryan Mitchell
The boards themselves are also cheap crap. Literally the only Topre boards worth the money on the market right now are the Leopold ones, and even then it's still overpriced shit.
Juan Howard
What about ? Those are dye sub with multiple colors on the legends.
Ryan Cox
that's because the base has no color. with dye-subs you can have multiple colors with a darker base
Julian Jenkins
I see.
Connor Murphy
meant can't anyway you can only get this color scheme with doubleshot since the base is to dark of the orange
Honestly? The price premium of Cherry over Outemu is not really worth it, Outemu Blue for sure, provided it's one of the more recent batches. Outemus used to be really sandy in feel but they've gotten markedly better recently. Gaterons still are the best chink switches that aren't Kailh BOX and are more readily available as well.
Nathan Johnson
You live in the US, there are tons of mx clear keyboards for cheap.
Jace Reed
What's the worst sounding mainstream switch?
Brody Cooper
Cherry blue
Austin Watson
how good are aliaz switches now that theyve been out for a whilw
Lincoln Martinez
razer green
Nicholas Green
Romer-g
Tyler Allen
Reposting since I posted this near the end of last thread.
Does anyone carry Cherry MX silent blacks for a half reasonable price? Specifically in the US. Most places I find are usually selling silent blacks for around $0.75-$1 per switch. That sounds way too high considering other more obscure switches can be had for around $0.50 or so per switch.
Someone recommended getting the switches from another board, but donor boards are non-existant and buying one new and taking the switches off of it would cost more than just buying the switches straight out, even at their ridiculous price.
>Have Cooler Master mechanical keyboard >have shitty ABS keys that are already shining from the years of semen dissolving the plastic >want PBT replacement caps for that premium grainy plastic feel >too expensive, fuck >get scotch tape >carefully cut strips into keycap-sized squares and apply onto tops of keys like a phone screen protector >feels bretty good
Or model F, whatever. Either way you'd be putting the cost cutting board's case onto a beamspring, which I don't see the point of.
Isaiah Howard
But the overpriced keycap market is mostly ABS. People pay big for looks, not for feel.
Brandon Butler
BOX Royals are, it's just that the tactility is different.
Cooper James
To save space Duh
Dylan Campbell
tada68 with gateron browns or reds?
James Cruz
box navy, pussy
Kayden Perez
Cherry's tactile switches are so meh compared to Zealios thou.
Christopher Collins
The bump is the same in clears, the only difference is the smoothness.
Lincoln Russell
I'm getting it fully assembled from kbdfans so there's no such option famalam.
Ian Rodriguez
I'm sure you could probably just email them and ask for different switches.
Parker Martinez
the whole purpose of putting the tape on the keys is to preserve their letters so it looks cool
but in doing so, it ends up looking retarded
so you're just retarded.
Ian Brooks
Do you want linear or tactile? I like my gat blacks more than I like my MX Browns but I have no experience with gat brown. I am personally waiting for my Tada with reds I got from Assdrop.
Dominic Baker
does someone know where i can get a 100% mounting plate ? i want to make my own keyboard but i cant find a mounting plate everything i can find is 60%
Nathaniel Gonzalez
Why do you want a 100% layout
Isaac Phillips
It is not smooth, but at least it is tactile. Besides, the switches themselves for zealios will cost a fortune
I'm considering getting a mechanical keyboard. Are numpads common? This is kind of a deal breaker for me
Joseph Diaz
There are plenty of options for boards with numpads m8. Ducky has a few, to start with.
Ian Cruz
They are not as common as they should be. Tenkeyless should not exist, they should remove the navigation cluster instead.
Jordan Ortiz
You can get a mechanical keyboard with a numpad no problem. A traditional layout with all of the function keys at the top, the nav cluster (arrow keys, insert, delete, etc.), and a numpad is called a 100% keyboard. If you want less than that, they go all the way down to a ridiculous 20% or some shit. 60-80% keyboards are pretty popular. But if you're just looking for a keyboard like you have now, with quality mechanical switches and good construction, there's tons of options. Leopold and ducky make some quite nice ones.
Austin Ortiz
Most mechanical keyboards have a numpad
Brandon Perez
Are there any keyboards that don't hide special characters on their own layer?
Just got around to replacing most of the keys on this board with royals.
They're nice, especially on keys like enter and backspace. The huge bump at the top takes a little getting used to. I'm making a lot of mistypes where I don't actually push the key past the bump at all. I also wish they were springier, since you bottom out pretty easily after pushing past the bump. The weight of the spring really has nothing to do with that big bump from what I can tell, so really all a heavier spring would do is make the bottom of the stroke softer.
