Like the time Salon magazine deployed a cryptominer? Or what, are they not large enough to be a trusted site? Even when they show up in both Google news searches and Firefox's suggested stories page?

If the ad isn't a png or jpeg file loaded from an internal source it's botnet by default. I exclude gifs because those were the cancer of webs past.
