Isn't it sad when the main reason I use an adblocker is to stop malware?

Then why do you block the safe ads that meet the safe ad spec as defined by Google?

>as defined by Google
Hmm, I wonder.

All advertisement is malicious.

Like the time Salon magazine deployed a cryptominer? Or what, are they not large enough to be a trusted site? Even when they show up in both Google news searches and Firefox's suggested stories page?

If the ad isn't a png or jpeg file loaded from an internal source it's botnet by default. I exclude gifs because those were the cancer of webs past.

>main reason
>implying more than 1 reason

Static image ads are malicious. Billboards are malicious. Radio advertisements are malicious. ALL advertisement is malicious.

The objective of all advertisement is behavior modification. It's categorically malicious.

>Using Adblock is basically theft!
t. Google AdSense/AdWords Team

Using an adblocker is the computer equivalent of changing the tv channel when the commercials come on or ignoring a billboard without reading it. Should you be morally or legally required to look up and read every billboard and advertisement you come across?

When I got hired at the PC shop, we had porn addicts that kept getting infected no matter what antivirus they had. I put adblock plus on them and suddenly never any reinfections from those people.

Adblocking is by far the best antivirus. We installed adblock plus on over 10,000 pcs across 5 years I was there. Fuck ad companies lmao

If I were your boss I'd fire you for this. You're supposed to 'treat' the symptoms not cure the root cause. You cost that business reliable customers.

I did. But it was the only solution to stop people from losing data to cryptolocking and other bullshit.

I'd argue that it's immoral to take $150 from someone every 2 months for virus infections. Especially when it takes you 10 minutes to remove it.

Or you know, it could save them time they need to fix real shit that's broken like screens or fucked up chargers or whatever.

there is nothing immoral about ripping off porn addicts. they pay for their sinful lifestyle.

Profit margins for those kind of "real shit" fixes are lower, that's why cleaning up the infections porn addicts get takes priority.

Yep, sounds like someone who blocks ads.

Only dumb millennials, basedboys, redditors, and liberals use adblockers. That's why I don't use one. Fags.

adblocking is fine, but if you use anti-adblock killers you're basically a thief.

his adblocking solution was to remove the people making the ads in the first place

>decades later
>webmasters are still mad about it
lmao

Truly the hero we needed

this.

If someone shows you an advertisement that is actual violence and it invokes stand your ground law since the advertisement is invading your home. This is why it's legal you shoot anyone involved in advertising.

>if you don't like being force fed corporate propaganda you're basically a thief

this but unironically

>website tries to block the adblock
*teleports behind you*
*disables embedded scripts*
>NANI!?!
Omae Wa Mou
Shindeiru

anyone wearing branded clothing is involved in advertising btw so you might wanna load up

>anti-adblock killers
lmao you mean noscript? cry more faggot

anybody who wears brand clothing is a subhuman. euthanizing them is an act of compassion.

>noscript user
They can't access 99% of the internet anyway, so the problem solves itself

Haha, sick.

I'll give them views again when they allows us to create a Gmail without having to register a burner phone.

whats with the dreamcast logos

They'll do that once you can figure out a more effective solution to stopping every durka and nigerian prince making a throwaway email for their spam.

I assume you strictly avoid social interaction with other human beings, since a good part of that is also little more than behavior modification.

topkek

In genuine social interactions the "behavior modification" is mutual and organic. Not one directional and cynically engineered.

If you willfully consume advertisements you are unironically a subhuman.

>willfully consume advertisements
nobody does this though

I unironically hope JS miners would replace ads.

>Google
Google is malware

>people don't watch the super bowl for the ads

>You have to let all content from a website load and aren't allowed to select what YOUR machine shows else you are a thief
this is really dumb.

>Here, free cookie
Oh thanks
>Here, take this ad flyer
No thanks
>Fuck you, that's theft
What the fuck, you said the cookie was free
>It is free
Okay then
>Fuck you for not taking a flyer
Look, can I take the cookie?
>Yes, the cookie is free
Okay then
>Fuck you for not taking a flyer
Haha, fuck you

This is what websites protesting ad blockers are like.

this

These threads are so amusing in that they defend capitalist interest while ignoring the fundamentals of economics and capitalism in the process. Like there are morals and and virtues attached to business decisions. Literally the entire purpose of a business (especially a corporation) is to make money. Every decision they make is based on profit potential and staying within projected margins. The counter balance to that is that we as consumers have a purpose to get as much as we can with the money we give them. This includes piracy, adblockers, etc. Any company that can't find a work around is losing to their competitors who can. Every industry ever has and will go through this.

Or do you really believe that corporations take your feelings into consideration when they make a decision outside of it affecting their profit potential? If not then why should we as consumers be held to that same standard?

>using adblock
>not just using a host file on your router
Heres a decent host file.
github.com/StevenBlack/hosts

blocking ads is more like not putting money in their pocket. So really ads are more like stealing then adblocking.

duckduckgo (tm) 10 minute sms

How many times did you test it. I tied it once on a other web SMS service and every number they had was already taken.

Does this one block all ads on youtube? Because so far i havent found a hosts file that blocks that shit

>People are taking the piss out of you every day. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply you’re not sexy enough and that all the fun is happening somewhere else. They are on TV making your girlfriend feel inadequate. They have access to the most sophisticated technology the world has ever seen and they bully you with it. They are The Advertisers and they are laughing at you. You, however, are forbidden to touch them. Trademarks, intellectual property rights and copyright law mean advertisers can say what they like wherever they like with total impunity. Fuck that. Any advert in a public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. It’s yours to take, re-arrange and re-use. You can do whatever you like with it. Asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head. You owe the companies nothing. Less than nothing, you especially don't owe them any courtesy. They owe you. They have re-arranged the world to put themselves in front of you. They never asked for your permission, don't even start asking for theirs.

when i use it with ublock o properly setup, i think so

>he still believes

lmao

Advertisement is pure evil.

I can understand blocking third party ads.

But blocking self-hosted static image ads is being an asshole.

You must disable your adblocker to view this site.

Can a helpfull user englighten me when exactly Jow Forums was overrun with corporate and establishment shills? I've been away for a while.

I get the impression that it has to do with Americans who browse Jow Forums starting to visit other boards.
All Jow Forums posters are annoying but specifically the Americans will go above and beyond with their "everyone for themselves" and "corporations should have the same rights as people" mentality.

Ah, I had a hunch. Things do seems to be worse during US hours.

Who is this clientele

it's ok dude I pay for a Jow Forums pass

>he doesn't know

Nothing wrong with taking money from people actively seeking your work regardless of how long it takes, faggot.

>sees ads
>gets fed up
>starts holocaust
when will jews learn?

Adblock isn't stealing.
It's the same as not donating money to the bum or street musician when you walk past.

Copied from: gnu.org/philosophy/words-to-avoid.en.html#Ad-blocker

> When the purpose of some program is to block advertisements, “ad-blocker” is a good term for it. However, the GNU browser IceCat blocks advertisements that track the user as consequence of broader measures to prevent surveillance by web sites. This is not an “ad-blocker,” this is surveillance protection.
I guess that fits to the actual use case for this software. I couldn't care less about advertisements, but the tracking is disgusting.

If you make a website and want to show ads, host them om your domain and no ad-blocking software will kick in. If you choose to use a surveillance service to serve your ads: fuck you and fuck your website.

I have the right not to be advertised to.

>but if you use anti-adblock killers you're basically a thief.
No one uses anti-adblock killer anymore, it's thing of the past, Nano Defender aka. uBlock Protector is the new solution:

there's a lot of such services and not a lot of people uses them, if you try out a few of them one will work

I’ve been using adblockers for more than a decade now. They need really a good reason for me to stop.

>no ring

Poor attempt.

>Using an adblocker is literally piracy
>Using adblocker is literally theft
>Poor devs need money to eat, if you don't disable your adblock, they'll die of hunger
>People using adblockers are the main reason why phishing sites, annoying pop-ups, ads with virus, etc. exist. If you didn't use adblockers, people wouldn't make annoying ads
Reminder that there are autists out there that believe all of these.

Ads can be fun. Just like anything else can be. Any show, book, song are ads too.

Am I subject to this if I use ublock + matrix?

>Any show, book, song are ads too.
incorrect

How so?

You're an idiot, I do this to every PC I touch but I don't make money from it
A model of business that relies on something that can be stopped with a 1mb add-on and 2 clicks to install is not a good model of business
I like doing things for free but I also must search for where there are money for my skills, I don't believe enough in good people

A good friend of mine literally installed a plugin to display ads on the browsers homepage, according to it profits go to beneficence. Fun part is he knows a lot about computers but sometimes he fells for strange memes. Like that time he set up its Mac to load any program he could possibly use at the startup, only for shutting it down every time instead of sending it to sleep. Result: more than 2 minutes startup time every half a hour

Sorry for the blog but I'm really starting to question a lot of his choices
