Elon Musk is Hideo Kojima of technology

>Elon Musk is digging tunnels-- something people have been doing for hundreds of years
>basedpeople get giddy

His Boring company has managed to triple the speed of Boring machines within the first year. He said they could potentially make that 10x. Thats impressive. I cant imagine the improvements in Boring within 5 years .

well said

Who's the Konami of technology?

Your mum.

Nasa. Kojima blew through as much money trying to get his dick wet as musk

>held in a synagogue
What did Elon mean by this?

Where is the proof of concept that he can make this tunnel network? So far I've only seen some videos of a fedora neckbeard visiting his rusty ass thin pipes sitting out somewhere in the desert. How can he be trusted if there's no proof of concept?

Hes been digging holes near his spacex facility in the last 17 months, refining the boring process And if you watched the video, he says he has struck a deal with LA metro to dig a 2.5 mile tunnel. I guess thatll be his proof of concept for the loop/hyperloop

Boring post.

This isn't going to be a hyperloop, this is just going to be regular subway tunnels that are bored using the Muskman's Boring company. It's time for Musk to put his investor's money where his mouth is and prove that his tunnel boring technology is actually faster and cheaper than anyone else's in the world.

>Elon Musk is mentally il....
With a name as silly as that, how could he not be? Musk is the smell on my armpits.

Which is what this
is for

>Musk builds a rusted metal tube
>''BASED MUSK IS GONNA MAKE US TRAVEL 1000 MPH THROUGH VACUUM WHOA''
>Musk replaces a rooftop with solar panels
>"BASED MUSK LEVEL 2 GENIUS DAMN''
>Musk digs a hole now
Oh boy, here we go again

At least it's not the hyperloop they're trying to shit out again, but as points out, nobody should trust Musk with this shit when he's only demonstrated the ability to put out a rusty metal tube.

Well sure, but landing rockets on their ass after they fall back out of space is pretty neat.

musk is glorified because he's actually fucking trying to do things that will change the world.
he's living the life that many nerds wish they could live. rich as fuck while running tons of tech related companies with big ideas.
he's certainly a better role model than most "celebrities" that people worship

So a Cheaply made prototype for a project that Musk wasnt serious about before investing 100 million of his money in the project somehow reflects Spacexs poor quality control history ,despite creating self landing rockets that require micron accurate engineering?

Is this bait?

Im pretty sure the reason the Musk went the underground tunnels route was partly because of concerns over weathering and vacuum breaches caused by undetected rusting of the hyperloops steel casing. If youre building a hyperloop 50 feet underground, you dont need to worry about using strong steels to compensate for the massive air pressure differences in over ground systems or detecting rusting in one of the millions steel tunnels.

No, he went the underground tunnels route because he got stuck in traffic once.

>Wasn't serious about
Is this a joke?
I would be worried about how much more difficult the inevitable maintenance his rust tunnels will require will be to perform underground. I'm not one to trust a massive vacuum tube that can breach at a moment's notice.

It's worse than that - he's Kaiji Inafune.

You don’t need steel tunnels underground.

>under LA
wouldn't it be better if they went to a location less prone to earthquakes?
Or the fact that it is near na active plate the deciding factor for the location, to gather data on robustness and such?

Anyway, I still think that placing it there on later stages of development would've been better. It's still only a POC, being a bit safer wouldn't be a bad idea...

watch the video. He’s purposely building a proof of concept in America’s most seismically unstable region to test whether the tunnelling tech can withstand the worst conditions.

What would be used, concrete?

>Being this jealous
wow.

Ultra strong Earth bricks. There’s no risk of a breach since it’s nothing but compressed rock, there’s no atmosphere underground. Underground tunnels can maintain vacuums quite easily.

Underground is the safest when near a fault.

Agreed - the only person in his industry who makes anything noteworthy and relevant happen.

The key to understanding Musks' projects is that it all is aimed at setting up permanent colonies on Mars. The rockets are only part of it. Being able to dig large tunnels to set up habitats safely underground is key to this.

Tesla plays into this too - electric vehicles, and particularly good batteries, will be needed for Martian colony. Same with Solar City & using solar panels for power on Mars.

Same with having planet-wide satellite internet - that would be extremely useful for distant Martian colonies & mining sites to communicate. Thus the Starlink LEO satellites SpaceX is beginning to launch.

And flamethrowers to purge the infidels

If musk manages to complete his Mars, BFR, and Tesla plans, and become Bezos tier in terms of wealth and power, I wouldn’t be surprised if the based bois who follow him radicalise and organise into cults, and starts worshipping him as a techno messiah, maybe even tattooing Tesla logos on their forehead like radical Christian separatists.

>Mars, starts worshipping him as a techno messiah
mite be cool turn Mars into a forgeworld

You're making too big of a deal about it. Even if there were a big earthquake, it wouldn't mean that all the tunnels would automatically collapse.

Tunnels perform better than overland structures.
Think of a jelly/jello, the sway from motion is more are the top than the bottom.
Unless you're building directly through the fault where a pinch/crush failure is likely, you're going to be fine underground.

It's the undersea stuff that'll be interesting. A shitty old depth charge could take out his tunnels to the spaceport and the spaceport itself.

It's almost as if subway tunnels were left untouched by earthquakes.

The hyperloop will never happen. It's not even a focus for Musk anymore which is why it's open source.
