This thread is about the appreciation of watches, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
Diver watches are ugly as fuck I do not understand the obsession.

Have you guys imported from Japan without paying import tax? Can you just get the eBay seller to mark it as £39 or lower and mark as a gift? I’m in uk.
Easton Gray
got the GW-M5610-1ER arriving tomorrow, what's the alarm on it like, does it vibrate?
Yeah, I get it and I keep mine on the original as well. I just like the assurance that I if mine breaks I can just put it on a nato until I find a replacement.
Yes, like it has a little computer chip that just do stopwatch, time, and some other things. Basically the same as a calculator.
Bentley Bailey
the raspberry pi also has a smal lcomputer chip, does this make it a calculator?
Adam Sanchez
But a calculator is way more complicated. My point is, or question, is what do this watch really bring to the table other than stop watch and a few other similar things? Did it change a lot in the last 30 years or is it just the same watch basically? Why do so many love these watches?
Andrew Gutierrez
oh for me >durable >alarms >stopwatch >timer >solar powered >radio controlled so time is always accurate and self updates that's why I like it
I do know what you mean. The AP dial is slightly better but the Nautilus has the better bracelet. Good point about the matching date color.

reminder that watches are for faggots

I was looking at G shocks and realised that this stainless cased digital watch can be had for £70. Any reason why I shouldn’t get this over a g shock? I’m not actually interested in the shock protection but rather the water resistance and digital features.
>skx013 is a safe bet Could you tell me what I should pay for this watch? I think I'll go for it, but I dont know where to buy it yet and whats a good price for it
I know analogue Nixon’s are dog shit but I can’t really see any issues with buying one of their digital models. I feel like 7p is okay for a steel cased digital. How much are the metal g shocks?
>Maen Hudson >Seiko SKX013 >NTH Nacken (slightly more at $600) >Used Christopher Ward C60
Michael Bailey
rough price on that lad?

PLASTIC BUTTONS PLASTIC BUTTONS NIXON NIXON

There really aren't very many metal g-shocks, every material and shape on a g-shock is engineered to be a perfect little machine that runs forever and is unbreakable. Nixons are much more about aesthetic.
Just buy whatever you like I guess, but you aren't going to convince anyone a nixon digi is better than a g-shock. I like both myself, for different reasons.
44mm I think. It's probably a far better watch though.
Lucas Allen
How is it better? Not flaming just wondering how digital 2atches are considered better than others when they have the same functions and accuracy. Surely aesthetics and quality are all that’s left?
Christopher Campbell
I expect the construction to be better on the Pulsar and the QC is probably better in general than some fashion watch shit.
Do micro gas tubes need charging with light or are they just constantly glowing?
Aaron Butler
would consider if it was 3$ at a garage sale
Wyatt Turner
Nixon actually started in the late nineties, and they developed their own designs. It's not that "legit" but it is a better company than the thousands who just slap their logo on parts mass distributed by alibaba.
Isaac Morales
Constantly glowing, not as bright as most lume though.
Look it up yourself. It's a pretty interesting topic that if you expand on leads to seeing some cool dials that were effected by radiation of old lume paint. A short answer is always glowing.
All replies are informing the original post of their preset time they will be having a wank.

I only have a dog. This is a silly question, nobody can own a walrus. I refuse to believe that this is a serious question, so I will just deem it a troll question from now on.
>gives off some radiation no (unless you mean the light, which, sure, is technically "radiation"). The radiation excites the luminescent material inside the tube and makes it glow. No (ionizing) radiation escapes the tube, much less the case.
