If you want help
>State the budget & CURRENCY for your build
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM, Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs
>R3 2200G - Bare minimum gaming WITH/WITHOUT a graphics card (Low end)
>R5 2400G - Consider IF on sale & closer to 2200G price
>R5 2600X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPU (Mid range)
>i7-8700k - Best for gaming, but most expensive when factoring in delid, high end cooler, etc.
>R7 2700X - Best high-end mixed usage on a non-HEDT platform
>TR 1950X/Used Xeon - VM Work / Streaming / Video editing (HEDT)
Overclocking
>Use Precision Boost2 offsets to overclock Ryzen2000X series!

RAM
>8GB - enough for glorified gaming use
>16GB - for heavy PC use
>32GB+ - if you have to ask, you don't need this much
>Current CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933-3200 MHz is ideal

Graphics cards
1080p
>MSRP of standard 1080p cards: 1050Ti, 140USD; 1060 6GB, $230; RX 560, $115; RX 570 4GB, $170; RX 580 8GB, $220+
>There have been good sales on AMD graphic cards lately in the US. Look for them
>GTX 1070 if you're looking for very high (100+) fps in newer games & you have a CPU + monitor to match
1440p
>GTX 1070/Ti, 1080, or Vega56/64; currently overpriced
>GTX 1080Ti if you're looking for very high (100+) fps & you have a CPU + monitor to match
4K
>Titan V OC

Storage
>Optane is good with StoreMi on Ryzen; not good on Intel
>240GB minimum for a storage drive
>2TB HDD are barely more $ than 1TB
>m.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard
>Consider getting a larger SSD, instead of small SSD & large HDD; add HDD later when needed

Goal: gaming with 100fps @ 1440p and very capable of running multiphysics simulations. also want the rgb cancer goodness

Not even trying

Pulling the trigger in ~30 minutes if none of you convince me otherwise

theyll be unseeable anyway, SSD goes behind mb and HDD is going in the optical bay

How big of a flash drive do I need for the windows 10 install?

Are gaming laptops just a meme, or actually worth buying if frequently moving around?

gf has one with a gtx 960m in it and it plays witcher 3 great. it was new at the time and
$1500. she uses it a lot

take that how you will

lmgtfy.com/?q=How many gigabytes is Windows 10?

>pcpartpicker.com/list/Xpqv3b
Get a non-standard cooler 1080 Ti, or possibly a Titan Xpp or whatever it was called, also you might want an intel-aviv i7-8700k chip if you just want to game at 100 fps in 1440p

I'm looking to upgrade my ram. Are there any sort of incompatibility issues between different sticks of ram or can I just grab whatever?

If you are happy with your (one?) stick of ram, just get another one of the same. If you want a complete upgrade, just get a new kit of faster ram

>le lmgtfy XD
You're a fucking retard, google doesn't tell you the install size without a shit ton of digging, it tells you the minimum size your HARD drive needs to be to have windows install successfully

Consider suicide

If you're going to buy a gaming laptop, at least do it right and buy a Sager or Clevo. They can actually be opened up and worked on without much hassle and from personal experience, Sager/Clevo (same thing) are like the only companies who build the laptop to properly disperse heat.

Didn't this thread used to have pastebins in the op?

Is pcspecialist.co.uk/configuration/ legit?

Looks fine to me. Look up reviews on them. 99% of gaming machines built to order like that are just Clevo re-brands. Seriously. Clevo is like the daddy of built to order gaming laptops.

Can you see the difference with gsync or is it a meme?

If you're mostly gaming the 2600x would be better, I'd get this for $50 more

Consider this bundle for a better mobo
microcenter.com/product/5001848/AMD_Ryzen_5_2600X_with_Wraith_Spire_Cooler,_ASUS_Prime_X470-Pro_CPU-Motherboard_Bundle

How big is the difference between an i5 4570 and an i5 4570s?

I would replace the X62 for a NH-D15 SE-AM4, the case fans for some industrialPPC-3000 or a HD120 RGB 3 pack, get a decent 1080 ti like this one
pcpartpicker.com/product/q438TW/evga-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-11gb-sc2-video-card-11g-p4-6593-kr

See the clockspeed difference? That's the difference.

gas yourself

>Get a non-standard cooler 1080 Ti
thats what the kraken g12 and one of the x62s are for.

>i7-8700k chip

im wondering how well it will do the workstation portion of my focus. will a 2700x really bottleneck the 1080ti?

>build top of the line pc
>stuck in a house with only WiFi
>forget that my moba doesn't have a WiFi
>no place around me sells Ethernet cable
>no wificard
>stuck with a paperweight for at least a week

Literally drive to Walmart, buy a $20 antenna, order a better one on Amazon, 2 days later you now have internet + a backup. Wa-la

go to Best Buy and get the netgear ac1200

>I would replace the X62 for a NH-D15 SE-AM4

any particular reason why?
i was personally bobbing between nzxt and the deepcool captain

>the case fans for some industrialPPC-3000 or a HD120 RGB 3 pack

why the HD120s over the riing plus?

>get a decent 1080 ti like this one pcpartpicker.com/product/q438TW/evga-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-11gb-sc2-video-card-11g-p4-6593-kr

i was planning on taking off the shroud and putting the 2nd x62 with the g12 on the FE card. thats getting less practical now though as GPU prices are falling back down. still though will and air cooled 1080ti be able to OC as well as a liquid cooled one?

>and a better PSU
pcpartpicker.com/product/dCs8TW/seasonic-focus-plus-platinum-750w-80-platinum-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-ssr-750px

ill think about it, though platinum doesnt save that much more energy over a gold

I live in the middle of nowhere

I do too but is a 30 min each way drive going to stand in the way that badly?

Is this shit any good?
It's relatively cheap in my cunt, but the reviews are all in japs.

Attached: 1508856723954.jpg (550x550, 77K)

No seriously I am freaking out about this. Is this the Mandela effect in action?

Guys today I open the windows defragmenter and one of my HDD is missing on that list. I can see and access that drive anywhere else and I ran disk check without finding anything. I also used a third party defragmenter and it can see and defrag my hdd without problem. Is there anything wrong with my drive or its its windows being windows?

is 850 evo better than 860 evo?

i don't mind your rgb shit but damn Republic of Gamers (faggot) makes the tackiest/gayest looking shit. like seriously, it appeals to children and manchildren. SPEED, GAME ON, REPUBLIC OF GAMERS, XXX-TREME GRAF-X.

I think the minimum is 4 gb but when I used a 16gb one it downloaded 10gb of data. So think if you have more space it downloads more driver support stuff.

Then you should be outside enjoying the outdoors not inside on an autism machine.

It will be fine, just use it as you boot drive or something not important.
If it makes you feel better pay more for the same thing but with an INTEL or CORSIAR sticker on the box.

Should I move this gpu down a slot awfully close to the CPU cooler

i was looking for aura sync, please redirect me to something better if you can. otherwise if youre just going to shit on something without offering a solution then i request you shut the hell up when grown folks is talkin

You're better off with a FE card + third party heatsink ( there's two vendors for this )

Only 70 usd to 120 usd

63C on the EVGA 1080ti with custom heatsink vs the rajintek at 46C/49C

Guess, I'll get that one instead. Thanks.

No idea, I can't find reviews in english but with max write up to 370MBps you'd be better off getting a MX500 250GB or a SU800 256GB

Watercooling is a meme, just get a noctua d15

>MX500 or SU800
Which one do you think is better?

What is the most aesthetically pleasing mid tower case

MX500 definitely

Enthoo Pro M or Meshify C TG

I've been thinking of something like this, I won't buy it yet as I'll probably wait for a good paying job/zen2/next /next next-gen GPU's also don't want to get cucked by paying these stupid prices on hardware. (kinda prepared to wait a year or more if I need to)

nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/xKMrD2

I have a few questions though, I've seen that Portuguese vrm thread floating around and it seems that the x470 strix has one of the better ones. What I want to do is just let the 2700x do its thing and boost as high as it can without me doing anything. Are there any better mobo choices?

As for ram I probably want to move to 32gb but it's just so damn expensive right now. Was wondering if there was much difference between 2933/3200/3600(cl16), I probably want to end up getting good ram because I keep my computers for like 6 years+ while only upgrading my GPUs. (can't believe sandy bridge was 6 years ago).

I play games at 1440p/144hz but I can't really justify paying 40% more on a 1080ti compared to a 1080.

Lastly, I was wondering if I should get a nvme drive consider ill be spending like 3k+ (nzd) on a pc. I wanted to go full SSD at least (ill have a giant 4+tb HDD for storage) so something like a 1tb 860 Evo was what I was thinking of. However, I dunno if I should grab a mx500 or 860 Evo, considering that the mx500 is about 10% cheaper. As for the nvme thing, in what situations should I get one? I play games, use some CAD software, run virtual machines yada yada.

Thanks.

went out and bought my parts today from yesterday's thread pcpartpicker.com/list/Y6VjZR.

prices adjusted for discounts i got at microcenter and amazon warehouse. took $30 off of mobo by getting 2400g instead of 2200g. everyone shit on my SSD choices but they had a decent deal on an intel5 m.2 so I went for that. howd i do?

what's a good youtube guide for getting my RAM to actually function at 3200mhz? I've never had to do it before

pic related it was the last case i got from amazon warehouse

also pretty sure i have genital herpes don't believe the lies guys stay inside where its safe and play video games

Attached: xmodo10.jpg (4128x2322, 2.31M)

>any particular reason why?
I'm not a fan of watercooling, the NH-D15 will give you similar performance but it's cheaper. If you don't like Noctua's color scheme consider the PH-TC14PE.
>why the HD120s over the riing plus?
They're cheaper and faster
>will and air cooled 1080ti be able to OC as well as a liquid cooled one?
Yes, a little bit less and at higher temperatures but it's possible

this.

I just fucked my ram.
I hope I fucked my ram because the alternative is that I fucked my motherboard.

Nice locked i5 stuck on 2666MHz RAM vs Ryzen CPUs gimped with slower RAM even though they can run faster.

BIG BOI

Attached: 8400 ramlet.png (1338x1181, 70K)

Which logo is the most aesthetic?

Attached: big 3.png (1097x356, 121K)

Hookdick falcon.

As memey as a name like Republic of Gamers is, I really like the mask logo

I fucked up and bought the wrong monoblock for my motherboard. I already used my entire tube of thermal grizzly between the gpu waterblock and this and now I have the cpu sitting bare with paste applied to it. Can I leave it like that or will the paste get fucked up?

Agree, Hookdick Falcon is superior to all other mascots.

Shall never unsee. Someone needs to draw the rest of the body.

What's the best board and cooler to pair with an 8700K? I don't plan on doing anything other than some mild overclocking and I mostly game.

Already have a 1080.

Attached: 1338506528353.gif (555x565, 121K)

ASUS Z370-A or F come into my mind right away.
Noctua NH-D15

but its so big and ugly for only a little cheaper :(

pcpartpicker.com/list/jBDGLJ

Plan to use 8700k at stock for a while with the 212 evo cooler with reduced video settings to get higher framerates.
Eventually when nvidia releases their new flagship equivalent of 1080ti I will upgrade to that and likely get Noctua NH-D15 cooler for the CPU, with a possible delid and liquid metal and overclock it as high as it reasonably goes.

Build is 90% gaming 10% multitasking.
Everything seem in order with this plan?

You can get faster RAM for the i5 too.

hasnt seen black dynamite

What price would you sell a Lenovo T420 i5-2520M with a 15" 1366x768 screen, where the touchpad doesn't work and the back of it hass a very nasty "wound" on the plastic ? i was thinking 120€ or 130€

>Assemble a list for someone
>Pretty solid, R5 2600, GTX 1070 TI
>He ends up picking an I5 7400 and 1070, which is only €15 cheaper

Why is this so frustrating.

Attached: 1447018088567.gif (360x360, 1.97M)

I do Unity development with a minor focus in Vive based VR.
I am trying to figure out if an i7 8700 or threadripper is better.
Work gave an I9 something, I lack permissions to check.

based brainlet bro

No you can't. B260 board is 2666 max.

Is Ashes of Singularity even a good game? People keep using it for benchmarks but I don't hear any other talk about it in any other aspect

My friend, any game that AMD wins at is a good game.

>b260
I run 3000mhz ram on my z370 and 8400

Hey guys, anyone know of a cheap and good motherboard that can run a ryzen 2600 out of the box?

Anybody try out the MSI X470 Gaming Plus? Opinions?

>befriending idiots

got a 2600x, meshify C case, strix x470f mobo, strix 1080a8g gpu. Tested the cpu with PRIME95, both with stock paste and arctic MX-4, getting above 90C under load during prime, what the fuck could it be? Fan profile is in turbo mode. No other people reported such temps on a ryzen even with stock cooler. I don't really wanna return it. If I leave the case open it 's better, still around 80C.

The GPU has no heating problems and stays around 64C under huge load (furmark 4k test).

Attached: 1493541665880.gif (223x222, 147K)

>muh single thread

Attached: brainlet.jpg (900x900, 73K)

How many case fans do you have, and in what configuration? Are they pushing/pulling in the correct directions? Around 80C sounds normal for a really heavy load like prime95, but that's with your case open so I'd check those fans.

What is better for a GPU Passthrough config?
We all know Intel has slightly better performance in games but this is specifically in Windows having all the cores available.
Considering I'll have to split the cores between the host and guest machines, is it enough to have only 6 miserable cores in total? Perhaps the Ryzen would be a better choice for this case?
I don't really know, genuinely asking since I'm thinking of using this setup when I build a new machine in a few months, currently in Ivy Bridge.

Should i upgrade to 1050TI from a hd7850

The better question is why they even asked for your advice in the first place if they don't know what the hell they're doing

Save your money for something better

I had both. There is a difference, but I believe it is only worth it if you can get the 1050Ti dirt cheap (140 or less).
For example AC Revelations worked perfectly on the 1050, and in the 7850 I have similar FPS but with some annoying sttutering, this is mostly due to the VRAM I believe, since I have the 1GB version.
A 3GB 1060 is a much better option, I'm waiting for them to drop below $200.

>3GB 1060

What was the msrp when it came out?

$190-200

the stock config for the case fans is front pushing in and rear pulling out. Every fan runs very quiet anyway. Could I possibly fucked up the cooler install? Just screwed them with the back plate. Funny how I chose every component cause it was good for temps (case, gpu, even stock ryzen cooler should be decent anyways). The only thing I changed in BIOS is ram freq, up to 3200mhz.

Built a new PC, installed and activated W10 Pro, can't find Homegroup settings anywhere. There are results on Google for people using HGs with Pro, so it must be possible. What might I be missing?

Pretty useless on Intel. No gains.

Make sure those fans are pushing/pulling correctly, then check the cooler once you've made sure of that. From what I've seen, the stock cooler will do about 85C in prime95 for that cpu, but above 90C is definitely unusual.

I think $250.

But the $170 MSRP RX570 has been matching performance with it in games from the past 2 years. RX580 beats it on average even if you include 5 year old games, especially at 1440p.
Plus Gsync cost.
So basically, paying over $200 for the 1060 6GB is dumb.

They removed Homegroups in the last big update (1803).
