Alien technology

What kind of computers are interstellar aliens rocking right now? What kind of tech do you think humans can produce at the point / to be able to travel between stars. I'm thinking Petahertz processors made out of elements that are basically unable to be produced on earth right now in viewable quantity.

They picked up a transmission from Steve Jobs, delivered on his death bed. "My extraterrestrial friends. This transmission includes files for running Mac OSX, the fastest operating system used by humans. Please install it on your systems to make your interstellar travel just work."

They then crashed into the ocean after trying to access the file system for their navigation systems.

clearly they are rockin Gentoo and you should install it

Faster than light travel isn't possible with our present understanding of physics. High sub-light speed travel isn't possible with our present knowledge of propulsion systems. The question of what we could theoretically do with technology available right now is a bit like asking what the Romans could potentially have done with the metallurgy and engineering skills they had at the time. Probably quite a lot more than they did.

>They then crashed into the ocean after trying to access the file system for their navigation systems.
Windows dweebs, obviously. Crashing is part of their core culture.
No wonder nobody has ever seen them. Probably still in Mom's basement.

>What kind of computers are interstellar aliens rocking right now?
alienware

user thats just a jet, those 2 released videos are desinformation sadly :/
check "the ufo chronicles" for non biased and serious ufo news.

Then how did the Nazis create anti-gravity propulsion in the 40s user?

They didn't

Google Die Glocke and hannebau craft you daft bastard

this

unless maybe we discover a way of cryogenic freezing ourselves, then all we'd need are computers that can autopilot spacecrafts, probably could be done with today's tech

>Faster than light travel isn't possible with our present understanding of physics.
so fucking what? you dont need FTL travel to travel interstellarly
>inb4 you keep stringing along your worthless argument

>What kind of computers are interstellar aliens rocking right now?

According to The Road Not Taken they aren't developed enough to have computers.

you even serious?
no reasonable research of more than 10 minutes would make u still believe that garbage, go back to /x/ and take your pills.

Betcha they're not pushing around electrons like chumps.

You've checked the distances involved, right?

>aliens
>using digital technology
Haha, everyone laugh at this pleb. Ayys are probably using analog technology, similar to what man had before the floods.

Yes, do you have a point?
>inb4 your point is just as irrelevant as "FTL travel isnt possible"

hence why space is bent instead. you can travel very far very quickly at a slow speed. :^)

pls explain for a brainlet

>digital technology uses electricity
>has to be recharged and is fragile
>analog technology is mechanical and will work forever
>can be started back up centuries later if it isn't broken/stuck/corroded
A power drill is easier to use but not as rugged or long lasting as a simple screwdriver. The screwdriver can be used by anyone with no special training and is 100x cheaper to mass produce.

So aliens use slave labor?

What you're asking is like a engineer from the 50's working on a UNIVAC asking about Windows 10 and it's spaghetti code but multiplied by 10 at least.
You think you'd have any clue even if an actual alien just told you?

Possibly, but it wouldn't make much of a difference. The main idea behind analog technology is that its simplicity allows you to minimize the potential points of failure to less than a handful.

An alien spacecraft that uses mostly mechanical technology for the takeoff, flight, and landing will be a lot more rugged and long lived than one that uses digital technology for those things. The analog ship will also be easier to repair using found and scavenged materials. Putting digital computers in everything means that you exponentially increase the number of points of failure, and this is what numales do. Any alien race advanced enough for space travel like that probably killed or enslaved all of their numale weaklings long ago, preventing them from weighing down their ships with 300k Raspberry Pi boards.

They're in my basement and they're Bros. We pick up a used laptop off Craigslist every night and install gentoo

Remember the movie Independence Day (1996)? Someone uploaded a virus into the alien mothership computer. Did the alien use same computer like us?

>What kind of computers are interstellar aliens rocking right now?
Impossible to know.

>to be able to travel between stars
Realistically at some point we might be able to stop, or significantly slow down aging, which would make long distant trips possible.

>Petahertz
Absurd.
You are making an enormous mistake here in believing that alien tech will even have similarities to what we do.

>elements that are basically unable to be produced on earth right now in viewable quantity.
This means nothing.

Once technology advances past a certain level computers cease to be necessary.

It used the UNIVERSAL Serial bus system, it is an intergalacticaly agreed standard.

This is the dumbest thing I heared all day.
Analog doesn't mean mechanical, analog electronics are a thing.
Mechanical system are also extremely maintenance heavy and if they are complex they are very easy to break.
Recharging is easy once we get an increase in energy density, even now it isn't a real problem.

You know NOTHING what you are talking about.

>A power drill is easier to use but not as rugged or long lasting as a simple screwdriver. The screwdriver can be used by anyone with no special training and is 100x cheaper to mass produce.
What am I reading?

you do realize that power drills are analog, faggot?

>analog technology
ANALOG DOESN'T MEAN NOT COMPLEX.

>mechanical technology
Yeah, what else would they use?

>digital technology
Electronics are SIGNIFICANTLY more resistant to outside influences then mechanical things.

>Putting digital computers in everything means that you exponentially increase the number of points of failure
Yes, the EXACT SAME is true for mechanical things.

>preventing them from weighing down their ships with 300k Raspberry Pi boards.
Their flight computer, which is the ONLY WAY, which makes space flight possible weighs less then a gram.

The guy obviously doesn't know what the word analog means.

>advanced alien civilisations travelling through space
>using a fucking computer with a fucking processor

How little of an imagination do you have? Aliens are bending matter to their will using only the power of their minds, Dr Steven Greer says so.

>implying aliens still exist
they knew that is "reality" is false, so they built a big machine that screamed autistically "NO" at everything which in the end denied their own "existence" and so they disappeared
that is why we find strange relics and the occasional automated machines but no aliens

>What kind of computers
you presume aliens capable of interstellar flight use computers hahahah I don't think so Tim.

>are interstellar aliens rocking right now?
There is absolutely no proof of life on other planets

>What kind of tech do you think humans can produce at the point / to be able to travel between stars.
We will never travel between stars in spaceships, that is as laughable as thinking we would be able to dive 3 miles beneath the oceans surface using flippers and a snorkel

>I'm thinking Petahertz processors made out of elements that are basically unable to be produced on earth right now

What fucking loony bin are you currently a patient at?
