Optimum just pozzed me for torrenting (I'm lazy and don't torrent much, but this was my 10th infringement or so). My internet is disabled for 24 hours.

I'm canceling my service tomorrow. There's an Optimum hotspot with near full strength inside my apartment already, and I'm using it right now with no issue with a friend's account.

I need some sort of Alfa-like antennae that can capture the hotspot and "repeat" it like a modem so I can wire it into my router. I have a tiny device already that does something similar (it essentially does WiFi to wired ethernet), but I need something that I can configure better and something with a strong antennae.

Basically, I need to go from WiFi to my home router instead of modem to my home router.

hmmmm

Where do you live that they can turn off the internet for which you are paying?

New York City.

Have your ever heard of VPN?

Didn't care until now since copyright notices mean fuck all, I've never heard of this happening.

If you are planning on leaching off random insecure access points, I'd suggest picking up a high power highly directional wireless bridge.

I changed my DNS to cloudflares 1.1.1.1 and never had a copyright strike since

I'm not. Optimum literally has their own hotspot that I get at near full strength inside my house already.

I just need a way to turn that hotspot into ethernet and feed it to my router.

Nneeww Yorrkk Ciiity?!

My Netis WF2414 does that. Wifi is upstairs it feeds that to my switches.

Then configure your router in client mode, or as a WDS bridge so that it is a client to another access point, but repeats the connection for other wireless devices.

why not get spectrum. they dont give a fuck about what you download

I've gotten letters from spectrum until i got a box

got a box?

I'm locked in there is literally no fucking option here other than Optimum or Verizon ADSL at 3-5Mbps...

>paying to pirate

>He doesn't encrypt his traffic.
>He thinks having a VPN is paying to pirate.

you already pay your isp
piracy isnt free, ever

>Netis
Fucking garbage.

Get a cheap wifi/router that does bridge mode, done

>being so much of an american that you trust more some offshore shell company than an ISP based in your country

When I lived on long island the competition between optimum and fios produced the best internet market I have ever seen and I've lived in PA, CO, NC, upstate NY, and NJ.
It's even better now. You're making a mistake dumping optimum unless you can truly live off of that hotspot.
I pay for a VPN that I need for other illicit shit it works for torrenting as well. It reduces your download speed but you don't have to use it for everything. I only use it when downloading popular media like TV and Movies. Porn from empornium, nyaa.si, rutracker, etc never produce notices.

So what i'm hearing is soon your friend will have 10 infringements on his account because of your retarded ass

Pay for a VPN you dumb prick

See, this is why we need net neutrality. Fuck Trump!

>It reduces your download speed
it doesn't have to if you have powerful enough hardware.

Get a nice quad core intel with AES-NI running PFsense, not only does that offload the VPN encryption to your router instead of your computer, you've got a beefy enough router to handle 1gbps VPN throughput (well, assuming you aren't running some retarded RSA4096 type shit.

hahaha fucking burgers and your copyright infringements

I use nordvpn and I assumed they just offer less bandwidth over the vpn than my home internet offers.
I run it on a modern desktop and it barely uses any CPU.

I get 300-400mbps on PIA with my desktop running openVPN

I can get 700-800mbps when i run the VPN through my PFsense box.

haven't used Nord, so no clue

I dropped PIA because the bandwidth they offered dropped significantly when they got more popular. Could barely torrent over them at all.
I only get 100 down at home but so far no VPN offers near that.

I'm east coast 1gbps fiber, running to the PIA server in new jersey.

it only adds ~5ms ping and bandwidth is stellar.

You're retarded. Get a VPS or a VPN, and torrent on the VPN.

>using unecrypted wifi in NYC
asking for it

OP, keep optimum, stop being a dumbshit who torrents without a VPN, and get a router that supports 5ghz signals. If you go on 2.4ghz in NYC with the amount of shit on that unlicensed band your connection quality will be dogshit.

> shell
i see

Ubiquity nanobridge

>stop being a dumbshit who torrents without a VPN
basically /thread here OP

I torrent with out a VPN for as long as I can remember, since at least 2006 maybe 2005. Have gotten tons and tons of notices, nothing ever happens.
However since OP has a faggy ISP he'll have to be clever. If you don't want to spend money OP stream popular media like your game of throne and avengers, download anime from nyaa, download music through deezloader, and download stream pron.
Alternatively get into any shitty private tracker, they'll have all the normie shit that throws notices.

>ISP disabling your internet for torrenting
The fuck you livin - Nazi Germany?

This wouldn't protect you from your ISP looking for you to torrent shit. Why don't you get a basic understanding of the internet

>"I don't understand how international law works" the post

whats the best way to access a wifi thats like 50-100ft far? i don't care if I have to use a dish-like antenna

Literally talking about wifi repeater. There's tonnes of them on the market.

why are you downloading shitty movies from public trackers

You're just going to get your friends account banned for torrenting too you dumbass. Stop downloading shitty highly monitored torrents like the latest hollywood shit or start using i2p or something for torrents.

>getting your internet disable because of torrent

What a shit hole, I thought US was good, but looks like everything is controle by corporations.

what is your jab

it does if the way they identify torrenters is by checking the DNS requests made by them. entirely possible to have a "blacklist" that causes the account to be flagged.

>US
>Good

ISP's don't really care if you torrent. It's the media companies that do and that actively monitor torrents and automatically send DMCA letters to your ISP.

Uhhh, unlike in Yurop, our internet is not censored at all. We can access TPB or any other torrent website.

In Yurop pretty much every single ISP blocks torrent websites, even Bredbandsbolaget:

torrentfreak.com/isp-telenor-will-block-the-pirate-bay-in-sweden-without-a-shot-fired-180520/

Why is this happening if corporations have no control?

Blocking a website is different than shutting down users connections.

Yurop is controlled by a false ethics base on moral correctness, but that just serve corporations.

Different cases but with a similar end goal.
Europoors will get cucked as bad as Americans eventually

You said it yourself.
