Kotlin

Why are you still using Java?

But I do not use Java. I use Kotlin.

Why would I use kotlin when there is more job offers in j*va?

Java is rapidly becoming PHP. Sure theres plenty of jobs but nothing new, that is worth working on, is being started in it.

Why should I bother learning Kotlin if I already know Java? Looking for genuine answers.

Am I a pedo for linking OP image?

I don't use Java. My name is not Pajeet or Rajesh.

nope

If you're good at Java, picking up Kotlin will accelerate all your development after you pick it up. If you only know Java it will be easiest language to pick up as a second language, and its not 20 years ago, you're expected to be a polyglot unless you're literally one of the best in the world at what you do and can pick and choose at will your team.

I'm using all the kotlin features I want in Java with Lombok. Can't be fucked to change syntax.

Tell me more about Kotlin

I only know that and C++ Rainbow dash ripoff
can't use kotlin

Oracle is working hard on modernising Java, they are bring in more fancy features like lamba support in Java 8, I hope they can revive Java and make it industrial standard once again.

The thing is Kotlin already has everything that Java has planned for modernizing the language.

But a lazy fat ass like me does not enjoy learning new language everyday.

With a waifu like that I'll get in trouble
I'll stay with Java

syntax sugar is cool and hip but I don't really need it for making shit work
but if it brings novice programmers who fall for memes easily to the jvm then I'm all for it, because it's a great platform
you're talking out of your ass. apple, google, microsoft, and facebook are looking for much more java programers than a year ago. this is the opposite of what would happen if they were not using it for new stuff
it never stopped being one

The prolem is that new versions of Java also require new versions of the JRE (or one of its clones, for which updates have to be developed first).
Distros and Android are notoriously slow to update these. Most Java Projects are Still Java 1.6 for this reason and most Java developers are looking forward to the day where they'll finally be able to use lambdas.

With Kotlin, you have all the features you want right now, and when it updates you won't have to wait 8 years for the sysadmin to install the new version.

Because it's a tool of russian intelligence agency to create backdoors in applications.

Why does kot-blini tan look like some sort of humanized ponyfag trash

I like java, don't have any issues with it. I don't really have a preference between java, c++, c#, python, etc it's all the same shit.

I get paid to use Java

Enjoy getting outPOOed

and java is older and has more people behind, what has kotlin to offer once java gets with the times? anime girls?

Kotlin already has all the features Java has planned to modernize, but it still won't have all the language features Kotlin already has and Kotlin isn't exactly sitting around being stagnant. Kotlin continues to add and improve

That's pretty far-fetched. Exploits already exist in more established, ubiquitous languages - why would they bother? Making a twitter bot in python seems more effective than hacking anyway.

No jobs

Have you looked? Scala and Kotlin jobs are increasing all the time. I know because I'm currently a Kotlin dev

Whats' the difference?

That chart is a mixed bag. Kotlin is rising fast, but unfortunately so is JS

Fat chicks dig OO.
