Win7 is being replaced as hardware dies and gets replaced with Win10-preinstalled systems. Expect this to accelerate in a big way once 7 goes EOL. No XP style eternal extensions this time.

The timing of the graph says everything. Students and families purchasing new prebuilt hardware in the fall when school restarts. By the time we hit Christmas, the gap is gone. There's also the reduction in hardware support for older OS versions.
W10 is a shitshow, but it's been out for quite a while now and they're being much harder on cutting of support for 7 than XP. We've known since before it even released that they were desperate not to repeat the extended lifecycle for XP.
