This thread is about the appreciation of watches, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
Are smart watches a meme? I kind of want one, but I don't think they are all that useful. Changing music player tracks might be convenient, but that's probably all I'd ever use it for
Alexander Ramirez
They are a meme.
It's gonna be worthless after 6 months and it's such a pain in the ass to charge everyday, don't make the same mistake I did user, for the price I paid a few years ago I could have gotten a nice watch that would still be useful today.

I like my Baby Tuna but I'm kinda having a tiny bit of regret on not jumping on the Turtle bandwagon.
It's not a watch-normie's Seiko like the Tutrle, but it's way less versatile.
I usually justify buying stuff by wanting them and having enough money to afford to buy them without meaningfully impacting my lifetime savings.
Michael Stewart
Well my main worry is that in 2 years that 3.5k could've turned into 350k and I left with a piece of shit watch to remind me of my mistake
I have 700k to my name but I'm just a jew
Dominic Martin
Do you really believe that bitcoin will grow so much that you will have a meaningful gain with a 3.5k investment?
David Lewis
>my main worry is that in 2 years that 3.5k could've turned into 350k I mean, that seems unlikely. If you're worth 700k why not "invest" 3500 in Bitcoin and but a $3500 watch?
Alexander Harris
>don’t go on /wt/ for a montg >check it out >nope.jpg
Hm I guess I'm really not that attached to the watch then. Didn't have those thoughts when I bought my other expensive toys
Leo Campbell
Is the SRP777 (aka Seiko Turtle) worth the price? Or are there better alternatives to this watch?
Daniel Johnson
Its kind of weird that you take so much pride in your fake watch that you actually go out of your way to take nice pictures of it and posting it here.

Are you seeing a shrink about your mental problems?
Logan Thomas
you think the watch means anything to him? It’s a tool for him to engage in his mental illness
Jayden Jackson
>lying on the internet sad
Wyatt Nguyen
Longines VHP or a citizen?
Jordan Sanders
Lol I have this exact problem. Last time I was on the very verge of pulling the trigger on a watch, I flip-flopped at the last second and dropped the 4k into crypto instead. Now I'm at the same stage again.

If you like the size and style of the vhp it's fantastic tech for the price. Otherwise go for the chronomaster but pay about twice as much.
>want to buy a Cellini >no way I'm spending $20k on a watch >have to wait for it to go down to at least $10k How long do you guys think I'll have to wait? A few years? A decade?
I bet that looks amazing irl. Seikos always outdo their pics, especially Seiko's own promo pics.
Luis Parker
How's life in New York? Are blue bezel and hands ok? I don't have any blue dials right now. Why would you want to buy a Cellini? It's uglier than a daytona. Just get a nice DJ or DD like a thinking man.
You can already picked them up second hand for around 11-12k
Luis Russell
I never really liked Rolexes. I saw a new Cellini and personally I think it's far cooler than a DJ or DD. Hopefully Cellini's less popular status will play in my favor on the second hand market. I've seen vintage ones cheaper than that, but I like a newer model.
I like the look of the Vostok Komandirskie K-34 watches and they're pretty inexpensive, should I pick on up Jow Forums? if not, any similarly styled alternatives?
