Yeah with 1GB VS you get all the functionality of notepad, how amazing. If you want your VS to be usable at all, you'd better have at least 20GB ready.

I have a friend that gets a fair amount of contracts for M$ code review (works for a pretty fancy "boutique" infosec practice). He said VS is one of the worst things he has ever seen internally. All the different teams different coding practices, no one knows what anything does, tons of copy and pasted code, aborted features/modules that can't be removed without breaking everything and people can't figure out why.

I use VS6 so I don't have this problem. I think the actual VS6 install is less than a 1GB. Yes, you read that right, less than 1GB.
