Hi, I have four laptops and a lot of OCD about destroying them securely.
Three of the computers are melted about halfway and unfortunately fused to papers that have my name on them because I was high when I made the fire and didn't consider that some of the paper could survive it.
I took what I assume to be their hard drives out of the wreckage and smashed it very hard with a hammer for many minutes, a question would be is that enough to do the job?
Also, are there other data storing components I should worry about? Could the RAM retain data if the computer was shut off improperly?
The fourth laptop is unscatched and unfortunately has an SSD which I have trouble identifying and gives me allot of anxiety. If anyone has advice identifying / destroying an SSD I would love to hear it
>inb4 56 TB of child porn I really don't have anything bad at all, I just have severe anxiety about this sort of thing
Sure you could have just wiped the drives and walked away with some completely functional computers but by all means breath in that toxic burning plastic fumes. As for removing the drives, its extremely easy which you would have known if you googled it before turning your computers into a melted plastic mess.

The computers were all already broken, i have trouble keeping laptops well

Bump for help?

So you are a nigger

insert them inside your ass. the bacteries will eat them.
Samuel Gomez
just light it on fire again until the paper is gone, then throw it into a big electronics schredder.
Colton Roberts
if you're having this much trouble identifying what to destroy and how to destroy it properly (i.e. burn paper) , your personal data was probably already stolen by malware viruses

Go to a pool supply store and purchase some muriatic acid. Put the computer in a stainless steel container and pour the acid in until it covers it. Put the container on a small stove and set it to low. This will greatly increase the speed of the reaction.
Do this in a well-ventilated room, like a bathroom with a fan. You may need to replenish the acid as it neutralizes after eating the laptop.
Once it's done, mix it with baking soda to neutralize it and make it safe enough to flush.

Are any of them thinkpads? If so, you can forget about trying.
Thinkpads are pretty much indestructible. Only thermite or C-4 will put a dent in it due to its superior plastic casing.
Carter Jones
actually this, unironically. When you start to taste battery acid in your mouth, you'll know destruction is complete.
>I took what I assume to be their hard drives out of the wreckage and smashed it very hard with a hammer for many minutes, a question would be is that enough to do the job? If the platters are physically broken/cracked etc apart then yes it would be nearly impossible to recover anything. >Could the RAM retain data if the computer was shut off improperly? RAM is volatile in nature and requires a constant power source to retains its data. In theory if you shut down a PC some data could be left over in RAM but in practice it would be almost impossible to recover anything from RAM.

No, I am very smart with software, I just never had any interest in hardware at all Thanks, I will look into this. Sounds a bit expensive and hard to pull off though. Also I don't wanna mustard gas myself

>people like this now post here eww

I guess it's summer now

>i have trouble keeping laptops well This is probably indicative of a larger problem...
Unironically what you've done is about as gud as it will get unless you want to find and pay someone with an industrial shredder to shred them for you.
>disassemble >soak parts in nail varnish remover or acetone >drill holes into chips and HDDs >place on bed of napalm, thermite on top >leave till it burns out >bury whatevers left in the woods that's how i do it, probably overkill but whatever
I wish every laptop was like this. At least it's still possible to get one. I just wish Lenovo would stop fucking with the Thinkpads and release an updated version of X220 with a better screen and better battery life. Only fags care about how thin it is and they are buying Apple anyway.
Nathaniel Collins
yeah, I've been looking at system76 desu, seems durable but no clit mouse is a real put off
Justin Ramirez
Why the hell would you not research proper methods first? >I was high This is your brain on drugs. kys
An X220 with Ryzen CPU with integrated GPU with a nice full HD IPS and long battery life would be a dream. I hope that's something they consider making.
Gavin Edwards
maybe Mr Su will listen and it shall be granted.
Zachary Ortiz
Is Mr Su's clit mouse likely to be red or brown? I hope AMD goes with red. Brown once look funny.
Bentley Gutierrez
I hear its brown. I don't think Mr Su has much choice in it: its of a legacy thing.
