If you want help: >State the budget & CURRENCY for your build >Post at least some attempt at a parts list >List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work >For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)
CPUs: >NO R3 1200/1300X or R5 1400/1500X. THEY ARE DEFUNCT AND SUPERSEDED BY THE R3 2200G AND R5 2400G >R3 2200G - Gaming WITHOUT a graphics card >G5400 - HTPC, web browsing, or bare minimum gaming builds with a dedicated graphics card >i3 8100 - Budget gaming builds >R5 2600/X or i5 8400 - Great gaming or multithreaded use CPUs (especially the R5 2600 for multithread perf) >R7 2700/X or i7 8700K - VM Work / Streaming / Video editing
RAM: >Current CPUs benefit from high speed RAM; 3000-3200 MHz is ideal >Before buying RAM for Ryzen, check your Mobo's QVL or look for user reports
Graphics cards: >Crypto-Currency miners have driven GPU prices up (particularly Radeon) 1080p >MSRP of standard 1080p cards: 1050Ti, 140USD; 1060 3GB, $200; 1060 6GB, $230; RX 570 4GB, $170; RX 580 4GB, $200 >GTX 1070 if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match 1440p >GTX 1070/Ti and 1080 are standard choices; currently overpriced >GTX 1080Ti if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match 2160p (4K) >GTX 1080Ti
General: >PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING >A 240GB or larger SSD is almost mandatory; consider m.2 form factor
>xbone mong thinks hes smarter than anything You pay a subscription to use internet you are an absolute cuck its no surprise you use intel.
Matthew Bell
I just explained to you in that other thread its watercooled, manually tuned ram timing, a very high oc, and much faster ram to acheive that. It costs significantly more and takes a lot of fucking around to acheive that
>is spend all day shilling for my cpu rather than using it lmao
Zachary Evans
OP is mostly fine except for the fucking G5400 and 8100 fuck off, every site agrees they're not worth it but of course everyone on the planet is stupid except you.
James Cook
help, my PC was running games fine at 50% GPU usage. now even in menus it gets to high 90's, and when I get in game, it goes all the way to 100% and locks up my entire PC. what do? literally nothing's changed.
Hi Jow Forumsents. Quick question here. I have an rx580. Bought some Samsung monitor but using freesync on it gives me scan lines. So I'll return it and will need another one. Can you recommend one 24"? Needs to have: 1080p, 144Hz, led. Wish it has: VA panel, speakers, freesync. Although I gave up on freesync because last monitor shows those lines when using it. Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom.
Juan Bailey
good pairing for people that want to upgrade yearly
>World of Warcraft at 4k? What cpu do you have? WoW is really bound by single-core performance. My ryzen 1600 at 3.9 can't push more than 30 fps from my r9 380 which is loaded by like 60% during boss fights at best on fullhd. Judging by performance difference, you'll most likely run at same 30fps on 4k, but it'll be losded much heavier.
Joseph Sanders
>What cpu do you have?
planing on making a 2600x rig
Jayden Ortiz
Genuinely appreciate the PCBG op for replacing that stupid retarded bollocks about StoreMi and Optane, with more general and sane advice, thank you.
Jackson Collins
Nice samefag xboxcuck
Juan Allen
No problem, bud. Just repost the OP when I'm not around
Was recommend to get a X470 Aorus Ultra mobo in the previous thraead But having trouble with QVL and getting ram that will run at 3200. Any good x470 board that aren't massive assholes for a reasonable price?
Tyler Jenkins
Man... I can really feel the sting of a 5 fps drop. I mean, having a company you can rely on doesn't matter or anything.
Christian Rivera
In my experience getting a separate wifi adapter gets best results
Kayden Cox
>having a company you can rely on Yea like AMD
Jose Scott
>Framerate doesnt matter THE ABSOLUTE CITY OF INTEL
Oh wow, gaming was the only reason to buy intel since Ryzen is literally better at everything else, and now you say it doesnt matter
Cooper Fisher
Old motherboard died and decided to get out of the mITX meme. Threw my parts in a friend's spare mobo and looks like my CPU, RAM and GPU thank god are still rock solid for now. Where can I improve? $250 budget
Get from what? Correctly pointing out which processors are better value in a thread dedicated to picking and choosing PC hardware? Why else would we be here?
Juan Morgan
Pairing it with pic related btw. Planning to upgrade GPU when prices stabilize again.
My old dell 3007wfp 30in 16:10 wqxga monitor is not long for this world. Having one single dual-link DVI is a huge limiting factor, would rather not dump 200+ on a kvm that supports dl dvi to easily switch between pc,laptop, work laptop.
What should I replace it with?I don't really game but occasionally play the new Doom and DS3. 99% of the time this is a workstation display.

Budget is < 1k US

is a 1070 enough for 1080p gaming? i don't really plan on upgrading to 2k nor 4k but i do want max settings for a lot of modern and future games. is the 1060 enough? should i wait for next gen cards?
Camden Sanders
its more than enough for modern 1080p gaming but the new GPUs are rumored to be released in July, hold out if you can
John Stewart
If you only do 60 fps/1080p gaming a 1060 is fine.
Jeremiah Long
Should I try to overclock a Titan Z?
Isaac Reed
do the prices usually drop when new ones get released?
Xavier Bell
oh ok, i thought they were gonna release them later than that i want at least 80 fps for games.
Matthew Cruz
I literally have that same monitor, WFP-HC Im not sure if that's the full model name or if there were several revisions, but yeah 30", 2560x1600 and a single DL-DVI
I shipped mine to work where I use it from time to time, but at home I replaced it with a BenQ 32" 4k IPS panel, with a fast 4ms response time which I really adore apart from a really rare problem where once in ever 24-48 hours you get a single fucked up refresh filled with random noise, not great but it's very rare.
My reasoning was 32" because any smaller and 4k native in the OS is too small to read, and I didn't want to use scaling. IPS because colours and viewing angles, and 4ms because muh gaymen. Otherwise a decent monitor for its day, there's better now I'm sure but those same selection criteria for me would still apply today desu.
Christian Rogers
of course, they have old stock to clear
remember those are rumors, Nvidia has been keeping a tight lid on release news for the past few years, the good news is that mass shipments of GDDR6 are known to be happening either now or starting next month, so there does seem to be seem legitimacy to the news as of right now
Thomas Scott
what do you guys think?
>Intel Core i5 3570k, GTX 1080 asus strix, 6 GB RAM, 2 TB HDD with 1 250gb SSD
The reason why it's an Ivy Bridge is due to the fact I already have the Mobo and they are a massive bargain. It's 50 pounds for the CPU.
Looking to play games such as Arma 3, Escape from Tarkov, Tom Clancy's and rainbow six seige
Matthew Bennett
PD3200?
Colton Martin
>recommending a G5400 over the 2 core overclockable 2200G for gaming with a dedicated graphics card LOL
They aren't retarded, though. b260 boards are limited to 2666 MHz RAM.
RX570 4GB and 1060 6GB are all you need for 1080p, user. They're overkill in most games. The 1070 is only about 30-35% faster than those two cards. Not a big jump up. 1070 is just so cut down. It is very power efficient, but that's about it. If it didn't have locked voltage by Nvidia, it could have been a really nice buy for things besides mining.
Jaxson Jackson
8400 requires a b360 you numbskull and nothing stops you from using a cheap z370 and faster ram other than money, which clearly money isnt the issue if you can afford 3400mhz ram and a water cooler for the 2600.
Jordan James
Your CPU will bottleneck even a 1060 in many cases, let alone a 1080.
My i5-2500k was bottlenecking and stuttering my 7970, which is only a bit better performance than a 1050Ti. Not sure why you think a 7 year old midrange CPU is going to keep up with one of the most powerful new GPUs.
Just get a 3770k and a 1060 6GB or RX580.
Tyler Harris
Er no I think it's this one BenQ BL3201PT, or some very close variant of it, there was a couple of extremely similar variants over the span of a year or so.
Other than that minor defect a really worthy ugprade to the 3007 which I absolutely loved and used for like 8 straight years I think. Maybe theres better now but the 4ms response time for an IPS is what stood out for me. BenQ bought out a panel provider and now do their own panels which are uniquely 4ms, back 1-2 years ago there was none faster.
Michael Collins
So it looks like I won’t miss 16gb of RAM on a 2200g for the price, I should stick to 2x4. Anything I might be overlooking?
Socket 775 toaster coming in, I repeat socket 775 toaster coming in.
I need to replace my MOBA with a 1333 FSB one with DDR2/DDR3 ability. I have a Q9550(C1) and I'm planning on getting a GTX 750 TI for just 30$
I'm currently looking at two boards. a P5E-VM-DO from Asus at 18$ or a 790i Ultra SLI from Dell for 35$
These aren't final, I'm actually worried about the Dell even being compatible and not giving me blue screens.
Plus I have some problems I'm hoping they'll be fixed by simply getting a new MOBA. Ever since I installed an SSD, it's been freezing/loading my PC randomly, I can hear the HDD running while it takes the PC time to load 5-10 seconds whenever I try to type in the URL address, happens randomly every 1-2 hours. Next problem is the audio jack output that's toasted. I constantly have to flicker the jack input till it works. And the main problem that I'm hoping to never meet again is the garbage Ati Radeon HD crashing every single time on video games.
The last problem would be the Wi-Fi card which I have to check what model it is. But whenever I use specific servers the wifi dies completely before I exit that server. It can be any server from a forum to a video game to a streaming website.
Easton Rivera
One last upgrade I could use is a proper cooler for my Q9550, which I haven't even checked in 5 months if it's running above 40 degrees.
Christian Walker
i'll just wait for the new cards reveal and then go for a new gen card or not. thanks, guys.
