I have one of these. It's been sitting by itself abandoned for several years. What should I do with it? Gentoo would take years to compile; I'd have to do it offline.
Specs, for reference: AMD Geode LX700 CPU (433 MHz) 1GB flash storage 256GB memory 1200x900 combo reflective/transmissive display (in bright environments you can turn off the backlight and use reflected light)
>What should I do with it? Read books and program in broad daylight.

Load your favorite shit on there and go innawoods for a few days.

To be honest, it looks more well-thought than some low budget laptops (besides specs), especially the >1200x900 combo reflective/transmissive display (in bright environments you can turn off the backlight and use reflected light) Why tablets aren't like this? If specs would be better and wouldn't be mad-green it'd be like budget thinkpads.

>Gentoo would take years to compile No.
I have several LX700 thin clients that run Gentoo fine.

Install Kali Linux on it and use it as your pentesting machine

You do realize you don't have to compile ON it? I'm pretty sure OP has means to compile on other things, even cross compile on his ARM phone if he doesn't have anything else.

Its more like a swiss army knife, Or a Chinese knife/axe/shovel combo.
Because this is intended to be cutting edge design, in basically a survival enviroment, even intended for use in sunlight in a area of the world where the sunlight is at its brightest. And since it has to use office tools, it needs 4:3 screen with reasonable resolution, which it has.
Washed out colors is not a cost for all that utility, especially when its that portable.
