>first computer you ever used
>second computer your uncle let you use if you promised not to break anything
First computer you ever used
>implying I cared about computer brands at that age
First was some beige windows 95/DOS ibm
Second was a Compaq windows 98
this
my first computer was some 286 or 386 ms-dos shitbox from a flea market or garage sale
i couldn't tell you much more specific about it, since i naturally knew fuckall about computers at the time, and it broke and got replaced in short order
>that kid who always breaks anything you gift to them
I shiggy diggy
while i don't deny i had a tendency to pull things apart and only sometimes put them back together, that was not one of them
i left it on during dinner, and when i got back, it no longer worked
what was wrong with it, i have no idea, it might have been fixable, but that early on anything was beyond my capability
Quadra 840AV
First PC I was allowed to use was an IBM 286. It had a 25MB disk and 24kb of memory (I think). Black and white 14" monitor and a sexy model M (no mouse).
My uncle's computer was an IBM 386 with a color monitor. It was faster and many games that I couldn't play at home ran on it. Specifically I remember Duke Nukem (the first one), and a few flight sim games. And they were in color, which fractured my 6 year old self's mind into pieces since I was so used to black and white monitors.
Also my neighbour had some machine that was considered old even for that time. No idea what it was, I just remember a funny looking (rectangular) beige box and a small green/black monitor. I thought it looked cool compared to my black&white at home.
Not counting the Mac LCs and the Performas my school had, my first computer was a Power Mac 4400 with the PC compatibility card and TWO IDE hard drives (one for Mac OS 7 and one for Windows 95). Christmas of 1997 was a glorious time.
My uncle didn’t get a computer until 2001 and even then it was some bargain-basement eMachines Celeron from Future Shop (Canadian Best Buy). I don’t even think it ran Windows XP, so I had no interest in using it. He’s basically always had shit computers since then, although he recently bought a pretty decent Asus laptop on clearance.
First was my mom's P3 beige box with a purple trim.
Second was my own, a hand-me-down Compaq Pentium MMX from my grandad. I kind of hated it at the time, too slow for the games I wanted but it was enough for Newgrounds, porn and CnC Tiberian Sun.
>CnC Tiberian Sun
I applaud your patrician taste in videogames
First computer I used was at a friend's house in 199X. I was still in elementary school and he invited me over to his house after, he had all of that cool 80's shit including a working Atari plus an older broken one, he told me he had bought both and managed to fuse them into a single working one.
He also had a PC, I remember basically nothing about it except it only had MSDos, he had some caveman game that according to him was made by his cousin but years later I found that to be a lie... unless his cousin actually worked in the industry, who knows.
Second computer I used was probably 5 years later, my mom signed me up for a computer class, I remember shit came naturally to me and I finished the asignments while the teacher was still explaining, needless to say I got bored and left the class.
Same for me.
I bought my second windows 98 compaq from radio shack and it came bundled with a shit ton of free software and games. I wish I still had all those cds and the computer.
can't remember much about the first computer i had but my mum gave my own when i was really young so like a tard i tried to put a floppy disk in the cd drive.
Around 2 years later get a new one with windows 2000, got made fun off cause my friends got some shit like an imac that year.
>Pentium 100Mhz
>32MB of RAM
>1.5GB HDD
>S3 Virge
>8x CD drive and 3.5'' floppy
>A4tech serial mouse
>Pre-ps/2 keyboard (bigger plug)
>15inch CRT
>Windows 95
>offline
>turbo button
must have been some windows laptop with monochrome screen
topkek, I broke my first four computers I owned
I'll probably break two others, for sport
first computer was a 386 with 8Mhz, it had a turbo button to get to 16Mhz. thats right.
a few MBs or RAM, not sure how much, but not much.
it also ran pic related and I programmed some shitty game in QBASIC on it
second pc was a 486 i believe, dont remember the specs
I got one of these from a car boot sale for £10 when I was around 6.
The first OS I had ever used was Windows 95, could not specify anything beyond that. I would have been around 5 or 6 years old. Used it to play some computer games or fuck around on MS paint. I didn't use it much, it was a family computer we kept in the kitchen and I didn't know much about the internet.
All I remember is it could play doom, and was blue green red mess.
Got to use my uncles computer once to burn cd's of all his mp3s he had from napster/ftp/torrents. Finished off the day with some Starcraft but overwrote his game save. Blamed that shit on my cousin fast. 2002 come back.
A 286 with MS-DOS and some good ol games: it was so fucking cozy and amazing...
You ran Windows 3.1 on a 16 MHz 386? That was brave of you.
I feel like almost everyone back in the day had either an iMac or a Compaq. Ironically enough, Dell was considered somewhat “premium” in the PC space.
The first computer I used was an IBM Aptiva desktop my dad got for free from work. He brought it home in 1996 and it must have been 2-3 years old at that point. Technically I wasn’t allowed to touch it, but I did write a few school assignments on it with my mom supervising. The main draw was that it had a CD drive and came with a Model M keyboard, which we still have. The first computer I used regularly was a Dell Dimension D266 my dad bought for Christmas 1998. THAT was a fucking hot machine, and incredibly well built too. I actually gutted the PII and re-used the case for the AMD gaming build I put together in 2004.
Mom is an only child and my dad has been estranged from my uncle since I was 3 or 4, so I can’t say much about using his computer.
I remember I had a 486/DX2 with S3 graphics. Played DOS and Minesweeper on Win3.1
Second computer: Dad bought an iMac G3 for the family, which costed him $1k to buy it. I played Doom, Descent, Heretic 2, Reader Rabbit and Sierra games on it
386 / dos
486 dx2-66, dos but also had win 3.1
My mom got me a Tandy-1000 in the mid-80s, which looking back on it was actually a pretty decent machine for the time. I was 7, I didn't know shit about shit; it must have been dumb luck that the completely computer illiterate adults around me managed to pick out a reasonable system.
We ended up getting an Amiga not long after, and that thing was fucking awesome for the time. I didn't upgrade again until...jeez Windows-95 maybe.
>computer your uncle let you use if you promised not to break anything
Nigga plz, when my uncle broke his computer he asked me to help him fix it, which I did. I think it was a Macintosh LC-series.
Now that's a sexy machine
I don't really remember much about it other than it having both 5¼ and 3½ inch drives, running Windows 95, and having a Red Hat sticker on that little square they'd usually stick a processor badge in.
Our first home PC. 640 KB of RAM is enough for anyone
Second was some 486 compaq laptop
Dad gave this to me when he upgraded to palm pda
First computer I used was my mum's Windows 95 pc, somewhere in 2000 or 2001. I used it to play Worms and look at Lego websites.
My first own computer was a first generation iBook, this was somewhere in 2003. I used it to play Age of Empires I and II, Carmageddon, and flash games on the internet. It was a hand-me-down from my father. I do wonder why he gave it to me, it was four years old at the time and probably pretty expensive still.
it was a 386 running dos or some shit like that, all i remember was my father screaming at me to not play vidya or it would die. I wish i had a MSX instead
An Atari ST long after they became obsolete. Still loved that thing though.
Sinclair ZX81.
Then a Sinclair Spectrum 48K.
Now fuck off.
The first computer I had was Commodore 64. The first computer I used was my friend's ZX Spectrum. My uncles didn't have computers until much later.
My first PC was a 486SX 33MHz. Before that I had Amiga 500.
My mother did a lot for me. Bless her.
