$630 for a GTX 1070 gaming PC

Picked this up last night for $630. Did walmart screw something up here?

Good job user

I bet they did. Nice job. Do a clean install of Windows; HP likes keyloggers.

Yeah, the GPU alone is selling for that much in many places. The PC itself is not too bad, but probably has shit PSU and motherboards. Plus, the 7700 is locked, which isn't great either.
It's still a great catch nonetheless.

considering it's like $1300 on their website, yeah, solid deal

Holy fuck that's dirt cheap. How did you get that??

Not a screw up, they're probably just clearancing machines with 7th gen CPUs to make room for 8th gen ones. It's a hell of a good deal though, with current component prices you basically paid for the GPU and RAM and got the whole rest of the PC for free.

Nice user

Price tag even says clearance. It's obviously a good deal but there is no error or anything along those lines, that's just how clearances work, you get things cheaper.

Notice the tape.
The box has been opened. It's "clearance" because it's an "open box" item.

Two options here:
1. Someone bought it, mined crypto, then returned it after the dips (or before the end of Walmart's return period)
2. Someone bought it, took parts out of it, then returned it. Somehow I doubt Walmart employees checked for all the components before just issuing the refund.

That's factory HP tape, note the hashmark thingies in it.

Or it's a return. They sometimes clearance those if they're in good shape. That's the only reason I can think of for a >50% discount with it being like $1399 on the website

Well, what are you waiting for? Install gentoo

on their website it's going for 1400 dollars

here it is on their website

hell of a deal

walmart.com/ip/HP-Omen-Gaming-Tower-Intel-Core-i7-7700-Nvidia-Qtx-1070-8GB-Graphic-Card-16GB-Memory-256GB-SSD-1TB-HD-Windows-10-home-870-213w/197665204

i'm kind of tempted to check the local walmart now because usually the clearance occurs nation wide.

I think it's more likely that Wal-Mart, not being much of a specialty PC retailer, only allocates shelf space for one or two models of gaming desktop and they got a shipment of newer machines and so need to get rid of these 2017 ones. The deep discount is probably set by the store manager, who doesn't realize what the PC market is like at the moment and probably thinks it's like any other outdated piece of consumer electronics that nobody wants.

It's also unlikely to be a return, as it has the factory HP tape on it as shown above.

check online. they will tell you if there are any stores around you with it

Same, kek

It says $1400 for me. Damn. I have the money ready too.

there are two nearby that have it in stock, but it's showing the original price.

you'll have to go there and see. It won't show clearance prices online.

I have none in stock within 100 miles.

I'm almost thinking of the same. I have a good GPU but need a CPU upgrade, and I'm almost tempted to buy one of these, yank the CPU and RAM, and sell off the rest. I think I could just about break even and then only have to buy a mobo to upgrade my rig.

c

Yank the mobo, ram, and processor. Replace with your mobo, ram, and processor. Then sell it for 800.

i just derp'd hard just ignore that one

Nice grab

You can see the in-store price here. Just replace your own zip.

i've done this and more

>buy ryzen 7 1700 on amazon
>return a fucking phenon II
>refunded entirely

>buy some dell desktop (some rando i7 config w/ a 512gb m.2 ssd, 1 tb hdd, 16gb ram
>return with no ssd, 8 gigs of ram and windows moved to the hdd
>refunded entirely

I'm not sure if it's true with these Omens, but a lot of HPs have proprietary mobos that don't fit standard cases or coolers and I think some even have non-standard PSU connections. Also, it's hard to fuck up with the CPU (since that's straight from Intel) and I can deal with mediocre RAM until prices come down, but I'd rather buy a good mobo considering they're relatively cheap than deal with a shitty HP one with a fucky BIOS.

smooth bro

there's one near me that has the normal price, but no isle listed. you think they are actually on clearance then?

Lol clever.

1060 235$
did newegg mess up?
cards arent that high anymore what u guys do have a rock fall on you?

this was on sale at my local walmart too.

Stop right there criminal scum.

Good find.

Is it really that good? Where does one go to sell the components?

The gpu and CPU can be bought for that much new, and the rest aren't high ticket items.

it's a good price if you want a working system, but it's not such a hot price if you're looking to part it out and sell the parts individually.

Give it back, Jamal.

One question: Why HP?

how about you look at the price, you retarded jew nigger.

so does windows, best to install windows 7 op

No not really, OEM dealers never got hit with the price surges in hardware because they're contracted years out for guaranteed supply. Prebuilts have been more sensibile for the last while, confusingly.

Nice

Better safe than sorry.

Was it a floor model?

Only for Nvidia, however. I haven't seen an OEM use AMD videocards without jacking up the price.

Clearance is $1259 here

So my 4 year old Alienware died the other day and I'm posting from a toaster. Which is better right now? Prebuilt gaming PC, or build my own?

I've got a budget of about 1k, and I want something VR capable if I choose to also pick up an occulus or vive.

Preferrably build your own.

makes me wonder if you can make your own barcodes for certain prices and put it on walmart shit so when they scan it it registers a custom price

Used to be able to.... These threads used to always pop up on /b/. Now I think it doesn't work anymore.

>1k
>VR capable

a GTX 1060 isn't a big ask.

amazon.com/dp/B07B6H4GNY/?coliid=ISD943X7YSQ0H&colid=3KZQ7AEDB1TZO&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Based nigger.

No, that's just how Walmart clearances out items. There are threads on this all the time but their inventory system is notoriously bad. Target does the same.

No, that's not how UPC/GTIN works.

No, the price is almost always correct. The inventory is not. Use the Walton app if you want better info.

Reminds me of the time I picked up a $5 bottle cage for my bike and stuffed an $8 bottle into it before heading for the check out. I only scanned the barcode for the cage but it still worked.

>GTX 1070 alone going for $600+
>i7 7700
>16GB RAM
>256GB SSD
>peripherals
>Windows license key
>a full fucking PC
>for $630

You should feel extremely lucky. Someone really, REALLY fucked up. Pic related, it retails for more than double.

A 1060 is like a 970. Completely useless for modern gaming.

It's not a mistake. Check brickseek more often user.

meh, you made some money, but not that much
> 1070: $470,00
> i7 7700: no one will buy this shit unless you sell if for around $200
so you basically got a free mobo, 16GB 2133MHz DDR3 RAM, 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD.

Good deal if s/he needed it only because of how shit prices are nowadays.

>Check brickseek

I read that as cheeki breeki but ok.

Did that guy just pay 10 dollars for a high end gaming mobo?

Micro Center used to have good deals. Now it's a ghost town.

>Target

I never knew they sold computers.

Probably it was a shop floor model, just means it's had some use but still good value.

nice score fren

Yeah and it's not just computers. But retards usually buy them out at 25% off instead of waiting for it to go to 50% then 75% off.

noice

This seems really good. Is this any good for Americans?

>i7-7700
>GTX 1080
> 1 x 16gb RAM, space for another slot
>120GB SSD and 1TB HD
>No installed software
>$1660

In my country, this stuff for this price would have me slobbering.

>using two adblockers
>Australian minimum wage is $18.29
>American minimum wage is $7.25
average

Yes but, considering how a gtx 1080ti costs $1400 in AUS, don't you think $1660 for a 1080 with an i7, SSD and 16gb ram is great value?

1080 is about $800 mwave.com.au/graphics-cards/geforce-gtx-1080

Great score.
