Charlotte resident reporting in. It took a year longer than expected to get my fiber, because the other ISP were cock-blocking Google at every turn. Now they have some new trenching method to lay the fiber and serious progress was made. More cities have been added to the list of where they plan to spread their fiber.
Hick towns may not get Google fiber, but you will get some form of fiber. Little fiber ISP companies have been showing up all around NC lately, wanting to connect the smaller towns around Charlotte. I'm sure something similar is happening around other major fiber cities.
