Badabumm tss nigga

Haiku-os looks like a win xp

But XP gui is superior over Linux/Mac/Win8 counterparts, right?

As soon as the beta comes out that's going on my T60 and likely never coming off.

XP interface is superior only to Windows 10 UWP thrash. I remember switching to Vista the moment it came out because the UI (especially start menu) was far superior.

Sorry, OS wars is so 1995, just like BeOS.

You can get more use out of AROS or AmigaOS 4 then Haiku

Don't forget MorphOS.

yeah if windows had a decent api
and window snap tabbing
and robust file attributes

haiku is just generally badass and desu I like the yellow brutalist look

What even is haiku?

It's not better than haiku. I like the minimizable, tree style taskbar. Not that you even need a taskbar with window tabbing.

It's a neat OS but not good for daily use.

It was BeOS like 20 years ago, cool but hardly anybody working on it so it died off but re-emerged almost unchanged as Haiku with nobody working on it.
I just like it for nostalgia sake since BeOS was the very first "alternative OS" I had heard of that could just be download for free back in the Windows 98 days. I tried it and it's nice but everything has to be ported to it so you have very few software options. Tried it again a few years ago as Haiku and it was like going back in time.
It's how I found out about Linux though and wound up using Debian.

Depends on your "daily use" doesn't it?

No because day refers to current year.

Haiku is cool os for old computers and is really modern in tthis days, evolving every day

it's called seppuku you idiot

>systemd
aaaand it's dropped

lolwat?

i'm not sure what this off-model cutesy bubble girl has to do with my comment

haiku is nice except the total lack of security (just between processes, really) is pretty silly and it's still unstable as hell

RISC OS Open is unironically a great little proof of concept for the ARM SoCs, and how great they could be with software written with it in mind.

The programming manuals are a pretty fun introduction to arm assembly and operating systems.

Are you too stupid to not destroy your system on a daily basis

>what is malware
Haiku is UNIX-like. I'm not taking any chances with that.

The difference is that Haiku is often shilled on Jow Forums by it's devs and fanbois, while those operating systems are not.
You can't expect a site with 90% being under the age of 21 to know any of those operating systems. Most think UNIX and Linux are even the same.

>Haiku is UNIX-like.
No, it's partially POSIX compatible. Kids these days.

Seems self explanatory enough.

It's funny how people here make fun of Hurd but tote around the idea of haiku.
The last preview release was 5 years ago.

Meanwhile Hurd now has the ability to use Guix package manager and shepherd the init system.

Not that I'm willing to use either but I'd argue which is more relevent?
I do want to settle on GuixSD down the road though.
