Why would I be seething when I have a great computer which will last me for years?

My last MacBook I bought in March 2007, and I didn't replace it until October 2015. So that's over 8 years that I used it.

Why are so perturbed that people use Apple products? In my last job as a web developer, our entire company used macs, because our stack was Linux-based and macOS provides a great dev environment for that sort of stack, since of course it is a UNIX OS.

Are the macbooks sold in the US just complete and utter shit with no quality control? I've never had the battery expand, backlight malfunction, have it never charge and all the problems that I see a lot of macbook owners experience.

Apple has a very long history of doing literally everything in their power to skirt honoring warranties. Their GPU shenanigans, Touch IC disease, the list is actually pretty long.

It happens with other brands but they actually just take care of your shit, not stay quiet, offer a warranty that covers the issue three years after purchase when they stopped selling the product just under three years ago.

I got a 2011 MacBook Pro with an i7 for free because of this shit. Friend of a friend bought it, GPU died a few years later, and Apple wanted more than the machine was probably worth to fix it despite it being a known manufacturing defect.

It was crashing instantly on every boot. I booted to single user, deleted the discrete GPU driver to force it to use integrated only. This made it work but OS X was horribly slow. I've tried installing Windows but Boot Camp disables the integrated GPU and forces whatever boots to use only the dead discrete one, seemingly to make Windows eat more battery and make OS X look better in comparison. The EFI in this model isn't standard enough to boot any Windows version.

I finally got it to boot Linux in EFI mode, and install a module that tells the EFI that it's OS X. This unlocks the GPU switcher hardware, allowing me to control that and leave it on integrated graphics.

I have this too on my 2015 MBP, it sounds like it's something behind the monitor but it makes the same sound as the force touchpad so it could be related to that.

Meanwhile my MBP fell once from bed height and now has a dent in the aluminum part of the monitor corner a well as an open seam in the underplate.
This can't be repaired, my thinkpad had been dropped so many times and didn't show any signs of damage because it was flexible.
