and i DO NOT want it to be that way. linux doesn't feel creepy unlike windows or restricted in usability unlike macos, linux has become reliable more or less, linux can run on everything...

there's probably market for people who want to business-level-reliably do media production on gannoo, but you cannot even convince relatively new companies, such as Affinity to port their shit to Linux, 'cuz loonix is to unstable' or some shit according to their devs.

How does Mac restrict you in any way? Especially compared to windows. The only media done on Linux is Maya and that's only because server rendering. Linux is shit with audio hence no DAWs and shit with anything visual since it's barely capably of rendering opengl properly

i'm not sure what the state of linux video editing is but for the basics pitivi and avidemux. kdenlive is the most hopeful right now, openshot and cinelerra are moving very slowly.

for professional workflow i would use blender+natron.

avidemux has never been good, MLT is super crashy garbage so that leaves kdenlive out. I think old openshots used to use MLT but newer ones ditched it.

Openshot/Shotcut/pitivi maybe been a while for me. Blender is amazing, natron sort of duplicates that but might be nicer. Natron didn't even build on half the systems I tried to get it running on.
