How the fuck would an UPS help gaming performance? The gayming marketing bullshit has to stop.

Attached: d90.png (644x800, 15K)

It wont. None of this bullshit will stop until we purge the basedboys who think this shit matters and is actually cool.

>basedboys
Oh right. We got a bit of that same infection on Jow Forums it seems...

I've got a 2500 kVA cyberpower rackmount unit somewhere keeping my shit running. Been thinking about a tesla powerwall solution to get the whole house on backup (fuck the solar though, my grid is cheap).

In theory feeding your PSU with extremely clean current could help make your overclock 0.00001% more stable.

Is the third world infrastructure in america really so bad that people need emergency generators for ordinary homes?

I use a UPS. But it's for my Server + Network gear + Backup devices.

I actually live on the gulf coast, so hurricanes and insane thunderstorms are not as rare as id like.

In theory, you should be able to feed a high-quality switch-mode PSU a fucking square wave (maximum THD) at 35Hz with voltage varying arbitrarily between 60 and 180 volts and still get pristine DC current out the other side. The filter caps on the mainboard also do a huge amount of noise reduction from sources downstream the PSU.

The one with sync-able LEDs, a tempered glass window for the batteries, and a battery shroud.

stop you are giving me aids

>(maximum THD)
No, sin(2*60Hz*t)+sin(3*60Hz*t) has an THD of ∞

Also square waves are cancer.

OK fine. Square waves are not maximum possible THD theoretically, but my point is that a solid PSU can eat them without any concern as they are the most common form of (intentional) distortion you will find on an AC line.

Square waves can fuck up power factor correction circuits.

PowerWalker VI 800 SW - pure sine wave, 480 W, 12V 9Ah battery, USB port for monitoring. I wanted pure sine wave because I figured I'd rather pay an extra $50 than run into issues later. It powers my bpi server, router, screen, and laptop.

I guess "gaming UPS" is just a marketing buzzword for high-powered consumer UPS that can handle a power outage in the middle of a gaming session with your PC drawing 600 watts.

Recently got the CP1500PFCLCD after I kept having random power flickering for no reason at all. After a year of it happening at least a couple times a month I didn't want to chance it anymore.

The guts of a cheep ups hooked up to a marine deep cycle battery.

Some APC PSU to safely shut down my NAS and Server in case of power loss. No worries regarding voltage spikes, noise or other shit because I did the electrical installation of my home myself.

CyberPower AVR 1500

>No worries regarding voltage spikes, noise or other shit because I did the electrical installation of my home myself.

Wat?

Stop powering your computer like a n00b.

How is wiring yourself going to stop spikes from motors cycling, noise from other devices, brown outs / surges from the power lines, lighting, etc?

i live south of new orleans and anyone who is upper middle class has a generator.

>In theory, you should be able to feed a high-quality switch-mode PSU a fucking square wave
Haven't I heard that active PFCs are much pickier about waveform, and really want a sinewave UPS?

APC Smart UPS 2000VA.
>mfw the Active PFC jew doesn't like cheap simulated sinewave UPSes

Fucking kek.
I thought that was just memes. I guess your infrastructure is 56% too

>third world infrastructure
>third world
>infrastructure
want to know how I know you're just a meme spouting aspie?

>literally doesn't even know what the word means
lel, maybe it's some of that american education

don't buy APC the batteries die after 2 years unconditionally

>look how retarded I am IM sooooo retarded look at me
fuck off retard

Hey man, I'm just a foreginer trying to help you understand your own language better. No har feelings

Cyperpower pure sinewave on main desktop

That only applies to online UPSes, not offline UPSes which are the vast majority of them (except when the power actually goes out).

The US is hit with enough natural disasters in a month to cripple half of the European economy.

Shockingly sometimes power grids fail when category 4 tornados or hurricanes hit.

APC XS1300 but I didnt buy it for gaming

slashdot.org/story/339921

APC makes pretty reliable systems, been using the basic ones at home and work uses the higher end rack mounts in data rooms. No complaints.

Cheap and effective. I like. What are you using to talk to it?

I use this guy.

Attached: BX1300LCD.jpg (480x480, 81K)

also, I don't game. I use it for work

I bought an UPS(Cyberpower 1500)mainly so my data storage doesn't get fucked during a random power outage. It's happened before.

A surge protector stops your shit from being fried, but it doesn't stop an unexpected shutdown while transferring data.

It's also nice to have as a backup battery incase I need to have an emergency light on or charge my phone.

>Not maintaining your own wind/solar power system off grid

It's literally free energy. Either be a socialist cuck or don't, get this UPS fag shit out. You probably don't even grow your own food and drink fluorinated water that turns the freaking frogs gay.

Attached: mmmm-grayons-31666494.png (500x533, 66K)

Solar and wind don't have 100% reliability. Neither do the backup battteries. A UPS in that case would be like a backup for the backup, which can still be useful.

>Spending tens of thousands on that

>A surge protector stops your shit from being fried

Surge protectors are wimpy, a whole house protector is much better.

You'll need an even bigger ups to run your stuff at night/cloudy days, retardo.

Western European power grid.

Yes, free after your 20k investment and yearly maintenance expenses. Im guessing you still rent.

Soon they will allahuackbar the electrical systems.

A Cyberpower 1350VA pure sine wave one

Cyberpower 1500

Shit's gigantic and keeps my rig running for 30 minutes under heavy load.

Which one?

This. Had a UPS and the battery broke after some years. The only power outage was a 1 hour planed maintenance. Its just a waste of money.

Replace the battery

Why should i spend money on this? It's useless where i live.

do I have to live in a third world shithole to know what this is about?

youtube.com/watch?v=Fj7e3WGUKO8

so yes?

cleantechnica.com/2015/10/09/german-outages-12-minutes-per-customeryear/

None. I live in a developed country that has few to no electrical issues. I can't even remember when there last was an outage. Honestly. It's possibly been a decade.

How do you move your computer otherwise? You don't shut down do you?

Where do you live?

Well, western Europe?

>Live in New Orleans
>Flood takes out three substations and floating houses take out a mess of poles
>Wish you had a generator
>Get one when everything is better
>Have it forever.
???

I'm not saying a generator is a bad thing if you live in africa or somewhere like that

That's not a country, Guy.

I rather buy a UPS than a coffin for my daughter.

Attached: 1291304413939.jpg (750x600, 97K)

I found an APC 700VA for ten bucks in a flea market, so I bought it.
I don't really need, I can't even remember the last power outage I experienced, but that's not a bad price for a 8 outputs power strip, so whatever.

Attached: apc-be700g-fr-onduleur-back-ups-es-700va-405-w[1].jpg (900x962, 108K)

You didn't ask for a country.

Attached: saidi_switzerland.png (1269x816, 45K)

I use 1 UPS cuz I'm a true gamer

Attached: NSMB_Artwork_1-Up-Pilz.jpg (2000x2000, 741K)

I'm saying Americans lose power for 12hrs a year on average but most of that is losing it for like three days once a decade. After that everyone goes out and gets a genset.

>three days
top kek

Hurricane Sandy knocked out power for a week here.

I literally have the cheapest UPS I could grab with 2 outlets and a schuko socket
