i delete my meme folder every month
otherwise it becomes too big and too old

I do the same but it's usually every ~3 months or whenever I'm running out of space

they are all in the downloads folder

I upload them all to google photos.
shit is free and it can show chronological view of all albums

Currently I have a folder system for them, which works well enough until I have a meme that fits in multiple folders

The best way I know how to solve it is if I had a -booru-like system where I can organize files by tags.

I have one big '~' folder. Every once in a while I put everything from my desktop in it.

Mentally catalog them by era, virtually just use the un-renamed filenames and remember which era any given meme is from and then go and look at that block of my dls folder.

I need a new method.

>the virgin that has a complex hierarchy of folders of carefully saved memes since he got here in 2016
vs
>the chad that doesn't have time for all that shit and just googles "terry davis dancing meme" and "shrek cringe meme", posts it, then immediately deletes it

I sort by board with a separate folder for reaction images.

By board, but all my reaction images are just one big jumbled mess in a single folder. I know which one I want and roughly where it's located relative to the others, so I just scroll for a little bit to find it.

and what, pray tell, did you search on google to get that image user?

scooby harriot

Why are there so many threads about this? Has the meme environ finally gotten so big that people are worrying about maintaining their meme collection for posterity?

All in the same folder. Names have keywords, like 'kek' or 'disgust'. Sorted by date. Usually I scroll around until I find something relevant.

Poorly...
For real though, my reaction pics are quite well sorted, pepe, wojak, stallman, terry, anime, smug anime, etc. My other memes are mostly throw into some folder, except those I have many of that have their own folders.
Board specific stuff, that aren't reactions, have their own board folders, just Jow Forums and Jow Forums atm though. Where I throw stuff related to the specific boards.

>until I have a meme that fits in multiple folders
Know that feel, especially for porn.
Pretty sure there are tagging option on most OS though, if you are autistic enough.

Radomly saved in either in the downloads folder or desktop. Keep all my porn pics and webm in the video folder.

I sort by the type of thread/situation I use the in. I have a reaction folder, gore/rekt, anime, pc stuff, infographics, etc.

Quicksort by name.

With generic funny pictures I'll just save a copy to two folders. It's 100kb, who cares. With porn I have a rule about which folder takes priority if it goes in more than one. Usually I only run into that with JAV, where I prefer to organize things by actress if its a girl I'm into and by studio otherwise.

Tags work great on torrent sites and boorus and stuff like that where there are a gorillion users and even if only a small percentage of them add tags, you'll rapidly have almost all the content tagged pretty-much accurately and completely. I find them a burden when you have to do all of the tagging work yourself.

even if you're picky about what you save, if you stay here long enough you'll accumulate enough stuff to need an organizational system. Besides, that lets you go digging for images that are now uncommon and interesting again because they haven't been commonly posted for a long time.

Even chadder:
>copies the image link and pastes it into the reply box. Doesn't even upload an image.

I have some memes that don't even turn up on Google image search when I upload the actual image.

Google
eti topkek

kek memes

why not into url box tho

This isn't reddit.

i love awoo

I use Hydrus Network, its not the best but it does its job.

>20GB Jow Forums folder on a computer with only 40GB available
>even though I can't even be bothered to upload pictures the few times I browse on my PC
Convince me to delete this shit lads

you don't need to delete things you need more storage space

hydrus

No one who mentioned Hydrus ever gives context to what Hydrus is. Here's an ss I took of it once, though. It's an image-tagging program, and I have a lot of complaints with it but I figured I'm just ignorant of the program.

this.

Politically incorrect memes are hard to find again on google images.

So I store them for future (de)generations

I don't sort my memes that much, I generally separate them to comics, threadshots and reaction images(which I mostly pick at random). Some popular kinds of reactions like bait, expand dong, have their own folders. My mlp folder absolutely required a tagging system, it's over 100k pictures now. I put tags in file names and use boolean operations to narrow done the scope. The default behavior of treating incomplete words makes it even faster, as I can simply type the first few letters of the tags.

It's what I use. I got well over 100k pics in it now.

one big folder, with 16,626 files, (almost) all named

I just want a list of all my tags. I don't know how to get it. That "system" namespace stuff is a brick of nothing to me, except the "everything" one, which quickly becomes obsolete since you realistically only want to tag in sets of 500 max. How do you view the newest 500, then the following 500 etc.?

I don't think you have all the answers but I figured I'd just throw this out there anyway. Also how would I make sets without naming them? I'm currently using the "set" namespace to group image variations, but there are just too many to bother, and tagging them appropriately only floods my search results. They should be isolated and have their own tags.

Try this.
(Eight) ch.net /hydrus/res/471 . html
(Eight) ch.net /hydrus/res/6021 . html
hydrusnetwork.github.io/hydrus/help/index.html

I don't think you can list the newest tags, but you can sort by time imported and newest first. I'm not sure what you mean with 'sets' but you can make collections.
See picture.

Thanks. Thanks for being patient with me despite myself. And sorry- about the "set" thing, that was a Freudian slip. I use the "title" namespace, since I saw the series-creator-title-volume-chapter-page sorting scheme, and I figured I could use it to arbitrarily collect images. When I do so though, I name it "title:(set)", which is terminology I use on my own.

But the collection dropdown just seems to reflect the same sorting scheme above. What I meant was pools, as in where the same image is drawn in different attires. As it is I give them arbitrary tags for each "pool", but if I tag those "pools", they flood my search results despite their usually absolutely never being needed in the context of tagging ever again. It just seems messy. I just want to make infinite pools without names. Thanks for feeding me regardless, since I just saw you using the same program, so I dumped all my problems on you.

I kinda wish the botnet could organize my shit that way. All my images are in a folder, I just randomly scroll and post the first thing that seems remotely relevant

remove that part next time. part of being a chad is not giving a shit about images on your computer

It's not about "giving a shit about images on your computer", it's just that his phone is so filled with Stacy nudes that a dumb meme he posted once is not what he's trying to look at.
