Things I've done already: >Installed RetroPie so I can play emulators >Installed omxplayer, which is a hardware accelerated video player, which plays 1080p (and probably higher) video, buttery smooth, and without overheating the Pi >I'm trying to get Ace Stream on there but it's a bit of a pain in the arse

I dont regret anything,
>Why so rude my friend? What's wrong with gaming? We have four boards for you retards. Stop spreading your filth here.
Wyatt Smith
I got one from a friend for helping him with some work. I also don't know what to do with it. I ran it once, realized I can do same shit on my laptop and more and never touched it again.
Ryan Long
Put it into a cabinet, wire it up and start up some server software.
For example, get XMPP server software to get a private chat without any NSA/FBI/Facebook interference.
Hunter Hughes
just buy a used pc/laptop off craigslist if fitting in your pocket isn't the reason to get one.
Ryan Hernandez
There is a magazine to Raspberry Pi: Pi Mag. Read it for TONS of ideas.

1. Did you really need to quote the entire thread 2. Yes I have Raspbian as well. What do you use yours for?
Yeah that's the thing, I can everything on my laptop, and with my laptop I don't have to worry about overheating
I've already got one, it was a gift, and I'm wondering what to do with it. I might have it as sort of a media centre thing, plugged into my TV, and then I can play retro games (with RetroPie) and watch films on it too
Kevin Campbell
I use mine as a small home server of sorts. "cloud storage" but it's just a USB plugged into my pi at home.
Noah Powell
Maybe I should do that. What sort of storage do you have plugged into it? A proper NAS thing, i.e. a server-rated hard drive?
Josiah Walker
Just an external HDD. It also runs a little webserver so I can get my start page from school, and a few other things like that. Worth looking into
Bentley Nelson
>Just an external HDD If I was doing that, I'd probably want it to be a server-grade HD, because normal drives aren't designed to be powered up 24/7. Do you worry about that?

Jonian/acestream-launcher
Aaron Barnes
not that guy but i really need to do a backup of my little fileserver as well because it has been on 24/7/365 for the past 5 years now. and that is with an already used 2-4 yr old 2.5" hdd.
i just use it to download movies/tv shows where it then transfers to my external 4TB drive that i've had for the past 3 years.
Zachary Rivera
Server grade HD because its going to be on 24/7? You are not going to read/write it 24/7. I dont see any problem with any kind of home grade HD
Cooper Williams
Not sure where I'm meant to get acestream-engine from
