How come 1920x1080+ is pretty much the minimum resolution for current year smartphones yet laptops are still shipping with 1366x768 panels? Is it about the cost or maybe production issues? Will there ever be a day in which the standard resolution for laptop panels is 1920x1080?

Because there are retards who are still buying them.
Retards who think having a slightly faster processor is better than having a comfortable keyboard, touchpad and a great and high resolution screen.
Also it obviously sells well to gamurz, because less resolution = higher EFFPEEESS, and gaymurz have been trained by sponsored YouTube gaming celebs to start drooling when high FPS values are mentioned like pavlog's dogs when hearing a bell.

At this point in time, those panels are basically free for OEMs. The major element that increases cost in LCD panels is size, then resolution. 768p is a sweet spot at most widely used screen sizes.

because apple was boasting about their iphone display resolution and it became mainstream meme. every normie who wants to buy a new smartphone is now thinking about those cool apple commercial materials where everything is smooth and picks best display he can get to watch 480p youtube videos

1366x768 is kinda dying at this point, i still use it but my laptop is from 2012

The average consumer doesn't care about resolution. Considering (in Dollarydooland) the average spec of laptops bought is Pentium or A6 level, there is no money at that bottom end of the market so they have to shave every dollar they can. 1080 won't be the norm until it is the same price or cheaper than 768.

I didn't know that 1366x768 was still a thing, I thought 1600x900 was pretty much the norm for budget laptops. Huh.

Alright, so what are some good laptops with a 1920x1080 screen?

Who is this saemen daemon?

Anything over $700 from a reputable manufacturer. 1366x768 exists but only for sub-$400 bargain bin craptops.

Low end Ryzen laptops seem to all be 1080p thankfully.

Me wearing no panties

1080p on a laptop hurts my eyes, everything is too tiny and sharp

OwO wats dat bulge...

>t. degenerate ugly whore poster

I really, really like this image.

My display is 1440x900.
Found two other displays, one the same, other 1080p or different, didn't hook er up to verify what resolution. D-Sub connectors on all of them, one also has DVI. I have the adapters for using any connector (DVI, Dsub, HDMI).

The subtle no pantsu is great.

mega cute image

My smartphone is 480x800.

Smartphones make money, laptops do not.

Plenty of phones under $150~200 still have 720P screens.
Lots of people buy dirt cheap laptops and then complain that it can't run shit, or complain about everything being too small on a 13"/15.6" laptop with 1080P.

1366*768 will always have a place in sub $500~600 laptops cuz normies buy them every other fucking year instead of buying a good laptop that lasts because either they are cheap mofos, or break them every other year.

1280x720 is the minimum res for smartphones and 1366x768 is discount shit tier walmart laptop.
Your assumption is wrong because yo cherrypicked "decent" smartphones and "absolute garbage" laptops.
