whoever tried barebone system without IDE knows that font rendering on loonix is fucking hell
in this case xft support make fallback fonts work properly and makes it use another font for lacking characters thus better Unicode support

rxvt is just terrible with fonts. If you want something heavy use one of the VTE terminals. If you want something light but working, use ST with a couple of patches.
