I tried it a long time ago.
Was EXTREMELY slow on boot: took almost 2 minutes (1) to verify my password.
Practically unusable on a laptop.

They changed some number to make it much harder to test each password, that's why.

user, didn't you hear? The NSA got to Truecrypt years ago. The devs put on their site for everyone to use Window's Bitlocker (I think that's what it's called, basically just the windows default encryption) rather than Truecrypt, obviously meaning they were compromised but weren't allowed to out right say it. Telling their privacy concious users to use a windows application was their way of saying GTFO.
