How does Comcast™ inject these messages onto webpages?

Yes, I am using Google DNS.

packet injection?

Sorry you don't have an ISP that actually cares about your bandwidth.

Use dns over tls and always browse with https

I am not overly impressed by how much bandwidth you have, but I bet your tiny cock is rock hard whenever you think about how much bandwidth you have. Perhaps you should open a porn site for people who masturbate over how much bandwidth other people have have. Then you could show pictures like that to them and they could post their own. It doesnt get my balls clacking but I'm pretty sure there are people out there who are furiously hammering the beef to that picture.

>There are people
>on Jow Forums of all places
>that do not use HTTPS to access their mongolian basket weaving message board

I'm glad comcast doesn't do that shit here.

Also, if you have access to the 2gbps plan, that service is excluded from the 1tb/month data cap.

How the fuck do you spend 1 TB a month? I don't even spend more than 40 GB a month.

i downloaded Bladerunner and Bladerunner 2049 in 4k yesterday.
~45GB for the first one
~73GB for the 2nd.

Hell, youtube alone can be fairly high bitrate if you watch often enough it adds up.

not OP but I imagine streaming video.
I don't have cable so when I watch TV it's always streamed

Data Plan on Home Broadband?
Is that really a thing?

Attached: 2018-05-28 19_06_26.png (1045x921, 46K)

On Cuckcast it is.

my favorite one on this list is
>Southwest Virginia
And it says this because in Northern Virginia there is an actual competitor to Comcast that uses fiber, Verizon FiOS is similar priced, much faster, and has no data cap.

So in Northern VA, MD, and DC there are no data caps for comcast.

Not him but I'm over 200gigs a month strictly on Netflix watching at night.

I stream my TV and I watch alot.. I'd easily be over my 1tb cap but I use a hotspot in my apartment. If i didn't have that I'd be breaking my data limit often. Not to mention any download I do is on a hotspot.

OP here.

Yes it's possible to use 1TB of data in a month, especially if you've got 4 people sharing the internet, with Netflix, Amazon streaming, 4K YouTube, Steam downloads and updates, etc. etc.

Yeah, we have 5 internet users, 4 of which are heavy users.

We go through ~2.5-3.5TB a month

Heavy months can be as high as 6 or 7TB.
A light month would be 1.5TB

1gbps fiber without a data cap for under $100/month is great though.

One of the reasons I live here.

BluRay? Where did you get them?

Yeah, UHD bluray remuxes.

Data caps are a fucking atrocity.

Get unlimited data and tell these jewish cucks to fuck off.

At 1MB/s, run 24/7, you'd use 2.628TBs per month.

1) use https
2) block servicealerts.comcast.net in your router

Change providers. I went with Dial up on 10mbps and it's actually consistent.

>Data caps on regular internet
What the actual FUCK

This is fake. Net neutrality was supposed to fix fhis... Right guys?

They run a transparent proxy and inject whatever shit they like. Stop using a shit ISP and stop using http (as others have pointed out), or get a VPN.

what even is this? you have to pay for data usage?

wtf user

i live in brazil and EVEN HERE it's pay for speed, not data

dog blessed murica, land of Free (TM)*

*: companies are free to fuck you in the ass the way you want. If you don't like it, you are a commie.

Sadly no, and they aren't the only ones with a datacap in murica.

jesus i'm offline paranoid.
i download and store every single game, movie, series or song i wanna consume, for immediate and later uses.
i can't even imagine what it would be like to think twice about spending a limited amount of data bucks each month

>Yes, I am using Google DNS.

Whose routers do you think you use to transport your packets? Here's a hint: It's your ISP and others.

Data caps should be illegal.

>Also, if you have access to the 2gbps plan, that service is excluded from the 1tb/month data cap.

I should add...

I'm on Comcast gigabit, we still have a cap

Attached: trump xd.jpg (640x960, 121K)

well, 1gbps aint 2gbps

I know, I'm just saying that for their highest cable service (most available), we shouldn't have a cap.

Why is America so retarded? Is it something in their water? Everything I hear about them is pure stupidity.

I thought you couldn't rip 4k yet?

It's been possible for 7-8 months now.

If you look around hard enough, you'll find instructions.

Though you obviously need a UHD bluray player for your PC to start. (or one of the few BDXL readers that can properly read UHD blurays)

2Gbps is such a retarded speed. Only twice as fast as 1Gbps but you still need an impossibly expensive overhaul to your whole network.

You're not wrong, but this way comcast gets to say they're faster than all of their major competitors.

The reason why cable companies can get away with this shit is that local/state governments literally give them monopolies. In places where competition is allowed, you don't see this shit going on.

>be american
>get capped

This, holy shit moot was still here when it was implemented

agreed.

not only do you have to replace all your NICs with 10Gbps, but the cost to replace modem/router equipment is absurd as well.

And all that for nothing, really, because other than speedtest.net, I don't know of a single website/service/program that works at anything past 750Mbps, not even Steam or Google Drive downloads.

Attached: 3453243245.gif (500x284, 411K)

>replace all your NICs with 10Gbps
You can get a 5gbps NIC for ~$100 new.

aquantia aqtion aqn-108 1gbps, 2.5gbps, and 5gbps ethernet.

>not even Steam
That's where you're wrong

Attached: real world 1gbps.jpg (1162x468, 93K)

And it's still not enabled by default

Attached: homer10.jpg (293x313, 26K)

Shit's so cached desu.

>he doesn't use https everywhere

not our fault you're a retard

Fake news. I'll need to see a gif or webm of that in action, please. Could just be one of those weird Steam glitches where it explodes your download speed. I thought they fixed that though.

Look at the graph, it was solid 830mbps+ for the vast majority of the time.

Also, microsoft servers are capable of providing some pretty solid speeds too, I can download ISOs from them at 900mbps+

...do you people not get out?

This introduces bugs on sites where https is enabled in a crippling state. I wish I could use it but some web admins are too stupid to live.

You have your Steam set to download from where?

I mean, valve servers are super close to my ISP servers, I know that much since in CSGO I get 3-5ms ping to official valve servers.

Huh. Well I have my Steam set to download to the nearest server, yet I can only pull 200 down.

BTW how did you set your Steam downloads page to show Mbps instead of MBps?

there is a checkbox for showing mbps in the downloads options

Attached: 2018-05-28 22_26_50.png (522x292, 12K)

>yet I can only pull 200 down
more than likely that your ISPs peering to steam servers (or some point inbetween) is overloaded and incapable of providing decent throughput.

thx.

Any tips on why I can't get your kind of speeds on Steam, but I can on speedtest.net?

who is your ISP and where are you located

I'm OP.

Comcast and Texas.

Then my assumption would be as this user guessed Comcast just has shitty peering to steam servers and it's overloaded on capacity and they aren't upgrading it to suit the demand.

I have noticed steam speeds can be fairly dependent on the time of day. So at 9pm on a Friday night, i'll probably only manage 500mbps at most, but 5am on a Wednesday, and i'll hit 800mbps+ without much issue.

Good thing Comcrap sold Dallas areas to TWC/Charter, we aint gotta with bandwidth caps.

I get similar speeds as him with google fiber in socal

But you have to deal with Time Warner.

Attached: 1491557858913.jpg (1280x720, 286K)

Packet injection. When comcast's firewall sees pic related in the header of a plain HTTP connection, they just insert their html and javascript onto the page you're downloading.

Attached: Screenshot_2018-05-28_22-35-38.png (393x105, 14K)

Never heard of that, desu... What can I do?

Right... And if you go on YouTube and lookup "Google Fiber Steam download test", you will never find a video with results above 500Mbps.

>What can I do?
tell your ISP to stop being jews and pay for decent backbone connections.

It's one reason why I refuse to touch even comcast's 2gbps service (which they offer here), comcast in my experience has terrible peering agreements with backbone operators. At least compared to Verizon with FiOS.

Probably just overloaded on capacity due to regional backbone points being at capacity and people unwilling (or unable) to spend the money on upgrades.

Something so basic shouldn't require an addon. What's the reason for Jow Forums being plain HTTP by default?

>Also, microsoft servers are capable of providing some pretty solid speeds too, I can download ISOs from them at 900mbps+

pls link to ISO download? Just wanna test my speed. No Media Creation tool plz

>And if you go on YouTube and lookup "Google Fiber Steam download test", you will never find a video with results above 500Mbps.
here is verizon FiOS hits 600mbps+ instantly.

Attached: skyrim steam.webm (1085x264, 628K)

I have access through work, sorry user.

It's easier on law enforcement. Also, if you don't have https everywhere, have fun getting a crypto miner injected and cached while on public wifi.

>This introduces bugs on sites where https is enabled in a crippling state. I
I've only ever encountered that once, and you can add exceptions to deal with it.

Yeah um sweetie, NoVA isn't special
Richmond's had FiOS for over 13 years

>I thought you couldn't rip 4k yet?

Richmond basically counts as NoVA desu, it's the only large city worth anything that far south in the state.

It's also where the FiOS deployment on the east coast ends, that's the end of the line, it stretches from Boston to Richmond.

Link to website?

Even if he gave you a link it wouldn't do anything for you.

Dollars to donuts its a screen shot from a private tracker that is invite only.

awesome-hd.me/

>Richmond
>might as well be NoVA
*inhales deeply*
BBBOOOOIIIIIIIII

that shows up on steam too.

Huh, I'll definitely have to look into this shit then.

Thx for the info.

It's actually called Spectrum, and it works fine. Also no bandwidth caps, bitch nigga.

This is sorta the same thing, but not really.

It's not wrong bud, Richmond is the last bastion before you hit the "south".

You're lucky you were deemed worthy of FiOS at all. Be grateful.

Not anymore. Steam client finally has HTTPS built-in.

Attached: 2018-05-28 22_59_48.png (217x225, 10K)

How do you log-in?

It's the gateway to the South, you dipshit
And no, we're not "lucky", were the fucking capital of the Commonwealth and house the Federal Reserve here as well as one of the largest corporations in the world, Altria
Go fuck yourself and you're NoVA snobbery while the Horde steadily encroaches from across the Potomac

see
it's a private tracker, you have to be invited.

Kek, do you Luddites have FiOS gigabit yet? Or did that get postponed there?
