IT field tech here. The last big update is royally fucking with the computers on our college campus. Half of them are failing it and the other half are having network problems now. Still, it beats having to drive our Macs to the local Apple store to be worked on

Same level of graphical API support, same level of audio support, same level of multimedia timers, all the massive work into making wine be able to run windows games.
And to be fair, if i was building a dedicated gaming machine like an arcade game, i would not think on windows by any means because it would mean adding 200 dollars for something that on the best would be useless and on the worst would make my cabinet more expensive due higher memory requirements and having to dodge the windows trying to steal my frames.

Believe it or not, you can have a job (a good one at that) and not need Windows on your home computer. At the absolute least, a virtual machine usually suffices, and is a good way to use Windows without feeding the botnet any personal info.

A Linux distro setup with multiple extra packages set up is extremely smaller and usually much lighter than a vanilla Windows install with no third party software. Distro dependencies are as-needed, you don't have a tremendous pile of legacy files from old OS versions taking up space from your furry midget porn.
