I don't care my favorite European porn forum went dark because of this shit.

>REEEEE GIVE US YOUR DATA REEEE
no thanks shill

So far, EU wasn't even in the race. But I also doubt that GDPR has any significant influence on AI development. Mass machine learning is a dead end and anyone involved in AI research should know that by now.

Still mad about GDPR Shlomo?

It's not like there would have been any otherwise.

>AI development in the EU
That's not even a thing.

>So far, EU wasn't even in the race.
this

>to streamline their economies
So now they can't exploit people like leeches instead of competing in the market like everyone else?
Oh no, the horror. The inhumanity.

And after GDPR there is no chance that they will ever be.

But people give this data voluntarily in return for services. If you're in the EU go to npr.org and decline. That's what we're going to be seeing more and more, if we get access at all to the website.

If your website blocks you because you tell them they can't datamine you anymore, the chances are the website wasn't worth much in the first place, and you need to find a better alternative.

Do you think npr.org was datamining you for data? Don't be absurd. It's a publicly funded non-profit.

>implying yurope even had the chance to win it

Attached: 1403490183187.jpg (652x774, 212K)

If AI needs feeding on private data then good riddance.

>By choosing “I agree” below, you agree that NPR’s sites use cookies, similar tracking and storage technologies,
Okay.

>and information about the device you use to access our sites
You don't need to know my resolution or hardware.
>to enhance your viewing, listening and user experience, personalize content, personalize messages from NPR’s sponsors, provide social media features, and analyze NPR’s traffic.
This just keeps getting better
>This information is shared with social media services, sponsorship, analytics and other third-party service providers.
Disgusting.

>You don't need to know my resolution or hardware.
Have you never used a mobile device? How the hell don't you need to know that?
>Disgusting.
Then don't use the service. You can just walk away, lmao.

How do you propose AI figures out what would be helpful to you? By conjuring up what you want out of thin air?

>and decline
So what? You still get to use the site as you please. All that has changed is that they have to be responsible with the data they gather. Normies get to sell their data for convenience, the rest of us get to avoid the digital Jew. It is only a mild inconvenience to any company that does not profit from data mining, and the rest can kill themselves as far as I give a damn.

It's amazing how much clapistani are willing to suck megacorp cock.

This is why Euroland will soon be in a new dark age if not for America and China

were we ever in the race? America and China seem to be leading there. Russia probably is further ahead than the eu too.

>consumer rights and technological progress are incompatible
fucking mutts have no self respect baka

Hinder AI development in the field of collecting people's data and creating advertising algorithms.
For everything else it won't matter.

>How do you propose AI figures out what would be helpful to you?
This may seem old fashioned, but it's my job to work out what I want.

name one AI application that doesnt require data

keyboard driver (has support for Alt key)

what do i win btw

Meanwhile AI face recognition is full of false flags in China and US, despite the """big data""". Maybe write a better algorithm, not just trying to collect personal data on random people like an incompetent shit.

Current state of Jow Forums

>GDPR will fuck or hinder AI development in the EU. Do you agree or disagree?
Enjoy winning artificial stupidity, we will continue developing artificial brains :*

Alphago zero.

>name one AI application that doesnt require data
that Alfa Go program

not an application of AI
they havent gotten it working yet. Datasets and quality of training datasets are still the primary drivers of AI. I don't believe a big algorithmic improvement is going to make data obsolete.

>they havent gotten it working yet
What rock are you living under? It took it 3 days of self learning to beat every human and a couple of weeks to beat all previous Alpha versions. And it's not even limited to go.

>not an application of AI
admit defeat

>And after GDPR there is no chance that they will ever be.
No. GDPR has no impact on AI development. What you fell for is the false equation in OP's shitty article. What companies currently use are automatization processes. Linking that with AI only makes sense if you want to push dumb articles by adding 'good' key words. Cause that works with Google robots and posters like OP. If companies have to spend extra money because their automatization of handling data is shit, who is going to care? They had 2 years to take care of that. It also has nothing to do with AI.

Actual AI development goes into a completely different direction.

I stopped following after alphago beat that chinese guy. What training times are we talking about for with data and without data?

Took months with data. Weeks without data.

>virgin american having his data forcibly taken for "research"
>chad european getting offers from research companies to use his data

That sounds like the opposite to what I would expect. I would be interested in seeing what they did.

Go and read it then.

You don't know the meaning of the buzzwords you're using.

These shill cunts will try anything. Get over GDPR. Move on. Stop being a honosexual.

>How do you propose AI figures out what would be helpful to you?

Are we being raided or something? I can't take this post seriously.

>anti-GDPR shillpost

Will GDPR fuck or hinder my ability to get gf? because that's about as relevant as your question is

Disagree for two reasons: first no significant development was happening in the EU, secondly AI development does not require a plethora of stolen personal data to be developed.

>honosexual

The French are ok though.

That's because it was a very limited set of moves. A self-learning AI about the real world would spend more time trying to evaluate how many possible first moves there are than the project will be run.

No, you're just too stupid to understand. You can go back to your headphones general and maybe if you stop by in the programming thread you'll learn what a for loop is.

>will hinder AI

Good.

Disagree, but AI research will not be corporate driven rather academics&EU lead. AI research will focus in different things in EU. Probably some gimmicky speech recognition won't be first on the list.
Also most of so called "A.I" aren't really A.i s they are very advanced algorithm and prediction based programs that can sort, organise and provide feedback. They aren't really true A.I As they will fail as soon is they experience something unexpected. Alphabet has been somewhat successful in creating deep A.I, but they've got few roadblocks, US military got involved and all in all currently there is a bit of chaos in Google.

No you're too fucking dumb to understand that the sooner drones are more accurate and more reliable the sooner they're going to be used on their own population. Google just sped this up. They did the opposite of what you're saying. If those things stayed unreliable and clumsy they won't be deployed.

Get fucked cretin, way to miss the point.

>If companies have to spend extra money because their automatization of handling data is shit, who is going to care?
The companies who have to spend that money for research and data collection and now have to spend even more resources in data collection for training AI, unless you're communist China where the state can shit on and censor whoever it wants.

>Meanwhile Yurop in new dark ages ruled by a caliphate
>You can't even post winnie the pooh in China without being throwin into a Tibetan gulag

B8 or not, Facebook making it's own dating service would probably require an AI to find someone as fucked up as you are

GDPR is warning us of the prophecy, Terminator was right and Skynet will destroy us all.

>GDPR will fuck or hinder botnet development in the EU
Shocking!

If making an AI includes botnet-tier datamining then I'm against such AI devs in the first place.
And GDPR has no influence over AI development.

This is how it should be. Previously companies who gave a fuck about data protection and integrity were in the minority. Now everyone has to do out properly. This is good for consumers and research.

same happened to a small site I used to visit, its pretty sad

>oh no, we can't use AI to build a profile about you using the data we harvest
Thank you GDPR.

>But people give this data voluntarily
Shut the fuck up and stop babbling this nonsense. Monopolies coerce people to do that because there's no other fucking choice. Good luck getting a credit card without giving out your info.

Skynet is a fictional neural net-based conscious group mind and artificial general intelligence (see also superintelligence) system that features centrally in the Terminator franchise and serves as the franchise's main and true antagonist.
Rarely depicted visually in any of the Terminator media, Skynet gained self-awareness after it had spread into millions of computer servers all across the world; realizing the extent of its abilities, its creators tried to deactivate it. In the interest of self-preservation, Skynet concluded that all of humanity would attempt to destroy it and impede its capability in safeguarding the world. Its operations are almost exclusively performed by servers, mobile devices, drones, military satellites, war-machines, androids and cyborgs (usually a terminator), and other computer systems. As a programming directive, Skynet's manifestation is that of an overarching, global, artificial intelligence hierarchy (AI takeover), which seeks to exterminate the human race in order to fulfill the mandates of its original coding.

>Have you never used a mobile device? How the hell don't you need to know that?
>What are viewports?
>What is dynamically deciding shit client-side?
Requiring this info serverside is not only botnet, but also just plain bad practice.

This is

Of Course, but that's ultimate choose that you have to make if you care about privacy. Th

Google's AI shits overs Apple's Ai because Apple values privacy over AI development. That's choose that you have to make if you care about leaving the botnet.

no one cares about the goolag self driving botnet

>things that did not happen
Stay buttmad 'muts.

>Do you agree or disagree?
Nope, it's just propaganda media from big companies who can't use random users to train their AI as easily anymore.
You know exactly who is behind that post with their nose sticking out.

Pretty much this.

This. Every day some fishing for a new reason why GDPR must be bad and why we should overlook the blatant abuse of our private data because some fucking EULA or privacy policy that helps itself to some perpetual unlimited license to do everything they want.

>Nope, it's just propaganda media from big companies who can't use random users to train their AI as easily anymore.
"Train their AI" sounds so beneficial.

What you mean is they see a threat to deducing what you want to buy at what maximum price, and offering it to you first at that price & preferably as a service or lock-in product that will retain you.

>This is good for consumers and research.
Fuck consumers the parasites are worthless and will be all killed off in the next 40 years.

And having to unnecessarily waste time resources is entirely contrary to research in a free market system.

Prohibition of slavery, murder and organ harvesting also fucks or hinders medicine development. That doesn't mean it's a good idea.

european here and i hate this gdpr thing
im okay with the world getting technologically better thanks to normies
it doesn't mean shit to me

GDPR itself don’t hold back IA but avoid Europe build huge internet companies that put money on IA developers.

good goy

First I liked the GPDR... Now i don't, it's fucking cancerous, those too dumb to defend themselves against being spied on doesn't deserve any help.

First Grug liked orders of tribe chief... Now Grug don't, it's fucking cancerous, those too dum dum to defend themselves against being clubbed on doesn't deserve any help.

>lets mandate crippled and retards to join hunt!
>oh no why is the tribe starving

>inb4 Jow Forums blocks access

>GDPR will fuck or hinder AI development
Considering "AI" is a synonym for "data mining", I agree that the whole point of the regulation is to make it more difficult for companies to do so. And yes, I think that is a good thing.

You can also fuck off with your clickbait article.

AI in the modern sense is a meme anyway, nothing of value was lost.
