No. If you live in US, or any country without import taxes, HD6xx are amazing value while being slightly inferior in sound.
If you live in EU you can consider AKG k702, while not as good sounding as HD600, those are still very decent headphones with premium class sound and EU price for those is ridiculously cheap.

Does anyone who owns these and m50x's care to comment?
After shipping and import tax that's about $100 more than I paid for my m50x's, and while I'm keen to try out a pair of new cans the hd650's from what I've read have a more balanced sound curvature whereas I prefer a v-shaped sounding pair like the m50x's. Not sure if I'd like them or not as I like my bass booming.

Yes, there are a lot of headphones better than HD300s. Whether that be sound quality wise or not being built like a 5 dollar chinese toy.
