If you want help
>State the budget & CURRENCY for your build
>List your uses - e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g. photo editing, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

Overclocking
>Use Precision Boost 2 offsets to overclock Ryzen 2000X series!
>Delid i5/i7 8000K series

CPUs
>R3 2200G - Bare minimum gaming (dGPU optional)
>R5 2400G - Consider IF closer to 2200G price
>R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs
>i7-8700K - Best for gaming, but most expensive when factoring in delid, high end cooler, etc.
>R7 2700/X - Best high-end mixed usage on a non-HEDT platform
>Threadripper/Used Xeon - VM Work / Streaming / Video editing

Motherboards
>Don't buy A320 (All Ryzen is unlocked)
>Only Z300 series Intel boards can utilize fast memory

RAM
>8GB - Enough for most gaming use
>16GB - Standard for heavy use
>32GB - Too much for most users
>Current CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal

Graphics cards
>MSRP of standard 1080p cards: 1050Ti, 140USD; 1060 6GB, $230; RX 560, $115; RX 570 4GB, $170; RX 580 8GB, $220+
1080p
>GTX 1050Ti, 1060 3/6GB, or RX 570/580; currently overpriced
>GTX 1070/Vega 56 if you're looking for very high (100+) fps & you have a CPU + monitor to match
1440p
>GTX 1070/Ti, 1080, or Vega 56/64; currently overpriced
>GTX 1080Ti if you're looking for very high (100+) fps & you have a CPU + monitor to match
2160p
>GTX 1080Ti

Storage
>Consider getting a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & large HDD
>2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB
>M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard

Monitors
>2k is not 1440p
>Always consider FreeSync with AMD cards
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING

does PSU quality affect whether or how much you need LLC when overclocking?

A real Jow Forumsentleman builds his own CPU using human brains.

This is the oddest way you could copy/paste an OP
Like in general or between those?
If you mean in general say what CPU you have and what your budget is
Not unless it is super terrible in which case you should not even use it for base clocks

Just a question to you, lewdpostanon. Are you actually gay or..? You seem to have quite a collection of those pics.

Thays not even a trap you are just posting gay boys now. Stop fag posting and gtfo

Macho if you can fit it

A night of hot steamy anal sex.

A gtx 1080 is going for $650 on amazon.ca, and I need a graphics card. I was planning on getting a 1170 whenever it came out, but I'm thinking it would be more expensive than this when it does. Good buy or no?

we know Nvidia will jack up the price of 1170s when they come out, but they're not going to reach 1080 prices, also check the newegg now sale for a better value than that 1080 if you must be now

newegg.com/promotions/nepro/neweggnow/live_053118/index.html?cm_sp=Homepage-Top2016-_-P1_nepro%2f18-1587-_-//promotions.newegg.com/nepro/18-1587/1920x360.jpg&icid=452130

>PowerColor Radeon RX Vega 64 DirectX 12 Video Card 2048-Bit HBM2 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX
>(((normal price))) $889.99
>sale price $529.99(closest to MSRP its ever been)
>use code NENPCR when the sale goes live in about 19 minutes

Ryzen is a horrible product, and that's a good thing

No 8400 anymore?

I'm getting an Asus dual GTX 1060 and I'm using a corsair vs 450 and a gigabyte - GA-78LMT-USB3 (socket 2) motherboard.

I used pcpartpicker and the closest I got to my motherboard on there was a Gigabyte - GA-78LMT-USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard so I assumed it was my one or at least almost identical since I can't find the exact one on there. Anyway it says this card has a pci express 3.0 interface and when I looked up my motherboard it says I have got a 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16, 1 x PCIe 2.0 x1 and 1x PCI. Am I able to use this card on this build?

Been fumbling in the dark about this shit for awhile now so any help is appreciated.

because it sucks

you're fine

hardwaresecrets.com/pci-express-3-0-vs-2-0-gaming-performance-gain/4/

How expensive are decent GPUs right now? I'm probably going to need to replace my 980ti, it's been sort of acting up lately.

Nah its the best budget gaming cpu. I dont care about the tweaked timing 3400 meme ram that no one owns

Attached: Average.png (1336x1998, 91K)

see

sale has begun so be quick about it

First has shitty video card but alright CPU
Can't get any info on second
Third is actually decent but way overpriced
It has no IPC or clock benefit over Zen+
You can't RMA? The only thing "worth" upgrading to is a 1080 Ti for $750

fucking bitcoin needs to go away already, that's nearly half of what I paid for my entire new rig a few months ago

Running 3433 is not exactly agressive for B-die desu
Even 3733 isn't hard to do on Zen+
MSRP is $700 dude
They all used to be over $1,000 or not in stock

Attached: illust_51021674_20180531_101035.png (800x600, 460K)

Where and how to preorder Turing GTX 1180? So that I can snatch one before mining pajeets get their shit smeared hands on them.

I really hope so, won't it not work with the card being a pci 3.0 interface or would it fit into a pci 2.0 slot regardless and still work?

>them frames
I bet my left nut that 99% of the faggots here and the faggots who complain about these frames don't own a monitor with refresh rate higher than 60Hz.

Maybe but ive had a vg248qe since 2015.

protip:
they weren't even announced yet

My first attempt at a build. Just started researching yesterday

Budget is under $800
I don't play AAA titles (Actually, does Total War count as AAA?), but want to play indie/smaller dev games without issue along with video/audio encoding

pcpartpicker.com/list/BtQ4MZ

I also don't know enough about cases to know what to get

Nowhere and you can't
PCIe is backward compatible with older gens
Although that board is old as shit I don't think you'll have any problems with video cards

Attached: illust_51058327_20180531_104917.jpg (600x800, 109K)

Now that's a sexy mobo.

Attached: big_h370-mining-master.jpg.jpg (1081x820, 217K)

Buy a b360 mobo if you arent going to buy ram faster than 2666mhz. You should at leasy get 2666mhz. M9i is a much better cooler for only 6 bucks more.

do you already own a 970 or something?

Only thing worth buying here is the PSU
Why not do an APU build or Intel NUC if you want to play indie games?
Makes me want to vomit

Attached: illust_51021674_20180531_101038.png (600x800, 502K)

>play indie/smaller dev games without issue along with video/audio encoding
Fixed
pcpartpicker.com/list/xwkN6s

I saved up some money and want to get a decent build. These are the details:

>Budget of around €1500-2000
>Mostly used for gaming. Will occasionally need it for video editing and messing around in GameMaker

Is now a good time to start looking for parts or am I better off waiting a half year or more?

Attached: wBAWKAV.jpg (294x349, 16K)

>spend more to get less fps
Why do you guys recommend this shit?

Attached: perfrel_1920_1080.png (500x970, 47K)

When will 8700K get dethroned as the top gaming CPU?

Attached: 1527618940009.png (1824x1026, 1.07M)

next year when Zen2 on 7nm is announced, Intel is showing they are too incompetent to get 10nm rolling

Stop recommending that shit

Attached: Vermintide.png (1338x1181, 70K)

>1700 below 1600
>1700x below 1600x
>hard OCing a chip to a lower freq than what it boosts itself to on multiple cores out of the box
hmmmmmmmmmmm

He is tryinf to buy one stick of slow ram you dumb shill lmao the 8400 is faster

CPUs aren't gonna improve much
NVIDIA could launch a new lineup during the summer
He's playing indie games
you
fucking
retard
When will Intel get on 10nm? Probably never
7nm Zen in late 2019 probably

Attached: illust_50817742_20180531_123857.jpg (800x1722, 341K)

He isnt buying your special meme ram so 8400 is faster.
He said warhammer you illiterate faggot. A pentium can play indie games

Sure user

Attached: 1527692964951.png (1064x594, 256K)

>another 3400 meme ram bench
Unless he had the meme ram in the cart it doesnt matter

Attached: pcgamer.png (600x774, 164K)

Better oc with a water cooler and buy meme ram or else you get shit on

Attached: averages_2600_vs_8400_stock.png (1920x1080, 536K)

And you didn't post a warhammer bench, now did you? The graph you posted is 100% irrelevant
Is "meme ram" really the best you can do?
Nobody puts the 8400 in the OP for a reason and your shitposts don't help

Attached: illust_55563988_20180531_123721.png (830x1000, 833K)

>d..don't buy quality RAM goys, don't take advantage of the fact all Ryzens overclock to better performance

Attached: 1368923410746.jpg (183x232, 22K)

You do realize that the guy who actually made those benchmarks you're posting recommends the 8400 over the 2600 as a more bang/buck option with anything less than a gtx 1080 right?

Whilst I think the 2600 is way superior in general for overall multitasking and gaming, I wouldn't say the 8400 doesn't have it's uses and as Steve says in the image it's more cost effective due to not requiring fast ram and the motherboard is probably cheaper.

They both have their uses.

Attached: hub.jpg (1439x2697, 1M)

Why do you get mad at benchmarks?

Attached: 1527019910521.png (1824x1026, 3.69M)

>i make the ops so no one cant put the 8400 in the op
Yeah i know you do that. I know you dont have 3400 meme ram either and no one puts in in their cart yet you shill to them that they will get 3400 tweeked timings performance at a 4.2ghz oc. They will be lucky to get 4.2ghz on a 60 dollar cooler sold sperately.

I get mad at the faggot trap posting amd shill

Yes pay more for worse price performance goy

Attached: perfdollar.png (500x970, 53K)

>They will be lucky to get 4.2ghz on a 60 dollar cooler sold sperately.
Now you're just lying, the stock cooler is good for 4GHz so even a 212 EVO or a H7 is enough for 4.2GHz

Can we not have this argument so the clinically retarded "you can run a 2600 at 4.3 with a wraith stealth" doesn't turn up

You're probably right but 1080/60 is pure shit after like 2016. 1080/ 120+ is acceptable.

Only good 2600s can hit 4.2ghz. Some of the 2600x cant even run 4.2ghz stable.

siliconlottery.com/collections/all/products/2600x41g?variant=12328737046614

Most people play with an unlocked framerate now for snappier reaction times. Pros like counter strike go players might have a 240hz monitor but they still play uncapped at like 300 fps just for that extra fluidity. I play battlefield and pubg with an unlocked framerate at over 120 fps on my 60 Hz monitor and if I cap the framerate it feels a bit more sluggish probably due to increased time per frame.

I run Flare X with my 1600
My U12S handles 4GHz Zen just fine and I'm sure 4.2GHz Zen+ would be the same story
Also I didn't make the OP this time
That's at 1.375 which is only barely into AMD's OC spec. 1.425 is still "safe for daily use with air cooling" according to AMD.

Attached: illust_51021674_20180531_101046.png (800x800, 724K)

I too play cs go with fps max set to 900 and average 300fps because it reduces input lag

>posts another poorly done benchmark that doesn't take advantage of Ryzen's inherent properties and advantages

I wonder what security vulnerabilities will pop up for Intel this week

Attached: Ryzen 2600 vs Coffeelake 8400 AMD Intel11.png (1338x1181, 69K)

>look i posted the cherry picked outlier from the test
Shilling this hard is pathetic

>Although that board is old as shit I don't think you'll have any problems with video cards

Thanks user, you shaved me a evening of worries.

Attached: 1512286656855.jpg (184x184, 18K)

Flare x 1600 isnt the meme ram with tweeked timing so thanks for proving my point that you shill this ram that no one buys

>probably due to increased time per frame.
nope, its because yout monitor will show the most recent rendered frame, and frames are not rendered in equal time intervals, but your monitor refreshes at constant rate, so will display the most recent frame GPU has came up with
for 60HZ monitor, if you are getting 60fps you will end up with at the most 16.(6) ms of frame "age", and when for example 2 frames will be delivered between 2 separate monitor refreshes the later will be choosen

Also cs go's input are bround to fps. The more fps the faster you can get a shot off

why do you hate accurate benchmarks user?

Attached: CTS Labs From Israel.jpg (1170x1974, 287K)

>accurate
>cherry picked the worst two from 30 benchmarks
Just calling a spade a spade son

lol that greenscreen

>what we basically live in is a society

do you honestly think Witcher 3 is a cherry picked benchmark?

Attached: Ryzen 2600 vs Coffeelake 8400 AMD Intel7.png (1338x1181, 72K)

Did the watch the video? No you didnt. Look at the breakdown. He says in the video prey and witcher were outliers

Outliers marked in red

i mean still, more than half of those games are more ryzen-friendly and it happens that ryzen can get performance differences of over 40% relatively to 8400

its ok user, there are far more benchmarks

I'm sure you can trick some brainlettes into buying a CPU they can't overclock

Attached: Ryzen 2600 vs Coffeelake 8400 AMD Intel2.png (1338x1181, 67K)

Yes its faster @4.2ghz with meme ram and manual timing and a solid oc mobo and after market cpu cooler, but it costs more and doesnt do this out of the box. So unless you plan to do all these things dont expect it to out perform an 8400

ALRIGHT: I'm actually building this thing with an NZXT S340 case. There's this weird plug with the front panel connectors with a white label that says
>WARNING: Do not connect while PC is powered on!

I've connected the rest of the connectors to where they need to go but I have no idea where to put this one. It has two slender cylindrical pins and two holes. Where does it go?

Lol and you keep tricking people into buying a 2600 and telling them they can get that performance out of the box with the standard cooler and average ram. I know you arent running it. I have yet to see anyone actually run this configuration in pcbg, just meming about hardward unboxed expensive configuration and cherrypicked worst performers for intel

>using proper RAMs for a given CPU
>few attempts with setting timings
>overclocking done by setting one number
pretty lot of work innit? thank god intel keeps us calm and secure not allowing to overclock half of their cpus

Youve never overclocked if you think you can oc a cpu and ram to the max and get it stable in a small amount of time. Plus the cost of the 3rd party cooler and high end ram

for first time you can use xmp and just set voltage to whatever they say is safe on internet
that kind of performance shouldnt be far behind the finest tweeked one

Ryzen is better just don't be a goy and spend more on the cpu, ram, motherboard and a cooler.

Attached: maxresdefault[1].jpg (1280x720, 157K)

The CPU is $9 more, B350 mobos are cheaper than B360 and the stock cooler is by far better

Do you not know anything about RAM overclocking?
B-die can run at 3433, 3600, 3733 if you up timings and voltage
Take a pic
CPU OC can be done stable in under an hour if you know your stuff
RAM OC is bad though

Attached: illust_53629070_20180531_123730.jpg (1136x1008, 501K)

Do you have a single fact to back up this erroneous claim? Every bench that isnt steves tweeked ram bench shows 8400 besting out the overclocked 2600x on average

Attached: perfrel_1280_720.png (500x970, 45K)

An oc can be done quickly. Finding the perfectly stable minimum voltage takes hours and lots of pulling the cmos. Once you finally get that stable you can start getting tweeked ram timings stable. Its not a big deal but crashes and pulling cmos pisses me off so i dont fuck with it.

finding perfectly stable minimum voltage requires zero CMOS pulling
if you can't prime95 for 12 hours you're not stable

>B350 mobos are cheaper than B360
not true
>the stock cooler is by far better
and its not enough to overclock to 4.2 OC like the benchmark everyone spam in this thread
You forgot the ram

>oc too high
>wont boot
So how do i fix this without pulling cmos?
>12 hours
I thought it took no time at all? And thats only if its stable. Typically it wont and you have to do the process over and over

I know they haven't been announced yet you silly cheesecakes >_

Nah just buy the cheapest b350 and oc to 4.2ghz on the box cooler

Attached: 0U4CZzGQqxJyyAV1H4W98-tcXnDi7rJzpfFamrCnOKY.jpg (640x360, 53K)

>try to find minimum stable voltage
>overvolt so hard you can't even boot
i'm not saying a fine-tuned OC takes 5 minutes, i'm saying you're an idiot

give me a quick rundown on the greenscreen story. I saw it posted here several times but my meme powers have been weakened since I got a job back in April.

>like the benchmark everyone spam in this thread
Relax, you're not making sense
