GDPR is NN all over again

Is it just me or is this GDPR thing like Net Neutrality all over again?

Suddenly, Jow Forums is raided by corporate shills attacking an entire good law just because of one arguably bad article (title II for NN, now article 13 for GDPR).

Muh data

>corporate shills
It's more like people in the EU wanting to believe anything their pathetic economic union does will ever, ever have any longstanding effect on anything international
vs
People who understand that the EU passing a law is basically like the UN putting somebody on the "unethical leadership" list. It's irrelevant and nobody cares.

NN is not possible without Title 2 classification, and FCC laws are enforce by case, not sweeping enforcement, so the FCC could make them Title 2, then do literally nothing at that point if they wanted to.

with Jews you lose

Fuck off and back to pol.

You retards were wrong about net nutrality and about GDPR.

So just fuck off about things you have no historical clue about but take your talking points from APAC.

NN is retarded. GDPR is good.

NN was good. GDPR is retarded.

t. americuck

good goy

t. straya cunt

It's not just you.

So let's say Japan one daycreates a law that says that if you even record ANY amount of personal data from a Japanese citizen, you're immediately required to pay a data tax to Japan.

Do Europeans who support GDPR *actually* believe that non Japanese websites owned and operated by non Japanese people should take that seriously?

I honestly can't wait until Hiro rangebans all the Europoor redditors that have infested the site recently. GDPR would actually be great if that happened.

Yeah but the best part is that GDPR is winning and the faggot corporate dick sucking cucksoys are seething.

>needs government overwatch to """protect""" him when he shits data everywhere
>somehow other people are the cuckboys

the absolute mindset of europoors

Stay mad for eternity corporate cocksucking shill faggot kike cucksoy mutt scum.

>european calling others mutts
this is why i get up in the morning lmao.
salam aleikum, ahmed!

Shevat Shalom, Shlomo!

No, GDPR actually has tangible benefits.

No, it doesn't. It's nanny state interventionism that will stifle the Internet and erode free speech, competition, innovation and user choice, just like NN.

>the absolute state of this board
Jow Forums and /v/ need to leave

>now article 13 for GDPR
gdpr-info.eu/art-13-gdpr/
article 13 doesn't even have any of the doomsday shit the shills are trying to claim
>businesses collecting data now have to tell you who they are, why they're collecting data, how long they're keeping data for
>businesses now need to correct wrongful information, provide access to personal information in a machine readable format, and in some circumstances delete personal information
whoopdefuckingdo, we china levels of censorship now bois

>banning a fifth of the worlds economy and the majority of the worlds english speaking community is good for business

>needs government overwatch to """protect""" him when he shits data everywhere

>have an email conversation with someone
>they click yes on some facebook popup saying that clicking yes will improve facebook
>facebook now has my entire email conversation with this person
>this is a good thing because reasons

>stifle the Internet
because google, facebook, amazon, et al haven't been doing that already
>erode free speech
gdpr explicitly protects freedom of expression and information when it comes the right for erasure, what you can't do is slather personal information over everything and claim 'muh free speech'
>competition
the privacy laws that are being replaced by the gdpr have existed within europe for decades, and gdpr makes competition within gdpr regions easier as individuals now have the right to data portability and companies like facebook can't refuse to give you your data anymore - they NEED to provide it in a machine readable format when asked, but you're right, companies being able to hoard data sure makes competition easier
>innovation
>muh data collection is innovation
>user choice
see competition, being forced to stick with a company like facebook because they refuse to allow you to easily download your photos is the opposite of user choice

>a good law
>entire purpose is to impose a tax on big companies that can't change that quickly
>within a week the EU announces desires to implement laws that allow the EU to spy on their citizens

Net neutrality protects small business from being extorted by large corporations.
It keeps you from having to pay twice for the same data.
And it keeps the internet open and free.
Plus here in my cunt it also keeps ISP's from spying on your traffic, as legally that is no longer of any concern to them.

>2 years
>quickly

The core of GDPR, which is that you need reasonable grounds to collect and share data. And ask for permission.
It also becomes obligatory to inform the user about how you use his data and allow the user to delete its data.

The way it has to be implemented is just a bit awkward.
I think the law should outright ban ad companies from collecting user identifyable data for advertisements, which is what this whole thing was about in the first place.
And only having to opt in for data sharing.

Only having to opt in case by case with privacy as default is already GDPR.

The difference isn't big.

>tons of major websites on the internet now ask for your permission to use cookies, worldwide
>tons of major websites allow you to access and delete your data, worldwide

How does it feel living under a rock, patrick?

Article 13 and the gdpr are two different things.
Gdpr is good, article 13 is very very evil.
Gdpr = websites can't collect data on you.
Article 13 = websites must now have upload filters that scan for copyrighted material and prevent you from uploading if found. Will later be extended to forms of forbidden speech.

I don't know if brexit make the situation better for brits or not in this regard.

No one is attacking it though?
Europeans are getting right buttflustered that we're blocking them instead of jumping through 1000 hoops for whatever new EU regulation exists this week.

>taking discussion seriously on fucking Jow Forums

This place has been shit for discussions for 9-11 years.

Either way, now's a good time to invest in VPNs.

It was only advertised outside the EU less than 3 months ago.
As a business outside the EU, I shouldn't have to keep myself constantly apprised on what regulations the EU is enacting this week.
Just as you shouldn't have to constantly keep yourself apprised on Australian laws and regulations unless you're located in or doing business with Australia.

Not our fault your media sucks.

The thing with a scary article 13 is not GDPR, it's a different EU directive - and while GDPR is objectively good, that second one is more questionable.

>As a business outside the EU, I shouldn't have to keep myself constantly apprised on what regulations the EU is enacting this week.
I work for a Taiwanese company and I didn't hear shit about until this same time frame when suddenly there's an entire team dedicated to this out of nowhere. Worked our asses off and we're still only in the transition phase

>is this GDPR thing like Net Neutrality all over again?
yes, because they're both retarded af regulations. At least NN only affected burgers, but this gdpr nonsense is effectively the EU trying to police the entire goddamn world. Eurocucks will never again be allowed to complain about the US overstepping it's bounds.

>Suddenly, Jow Forums is raided by corporate shills attacking an entire good law just because of one arguably bad article
lmao, imagine actually believing this. Nice projection, shill.

It's shills and the same people collecting your data, that's why the are angry.

>honestly thinking the US will take this shit seriously
lol

yup, can't wait to use euro vpns to get a better web experience

lmao, nobody outside of clapistan reads shit like the la times. nobody gives a fuck

Libertarians leave. This is a socialist board.

>corporate cocksucking shill faggot kike cucksoy mutt scum is seething
Delicious butthurt.
