They do make occasionally good hardware, but they tend to abandon all their good ideas or just fail to properly implement and market them.

Their newest laptops and tablets are pretty slick as far as usability goes.
You can't repair them at all because they pump them full of glue, but if you want a good powerful tablet the Surface is pretty much the best option.

Look at when they made peripherals, the sidewinder range was fantastic.
But it all used gameport and they buried that after XP.

If you can find a usb > gameport adaptor you can still use them, and all the joysticks are still bredy gud, but it's easier to just get an xbox controller.

What they fail to do is counter the immediate screaming, crying, and lying from linuxfags anything they literally do anything.
