Got old mobo/cpu from a mates throwout to see what was on a pile of IDE drives I had. Didn't have the right socket cpu heatsink, but cable ties made one compatible enough

It doesn't look like it obstruct airflow in any special way.
And it looks like it is there to reduce noise, ultimately allowing the fans to run even faster without it getting more annoying.

Actually just helped my friend build his first computer yesterday, but I forgot the I/O shield has to go in before mounting the motherboard so we kinda just shoved it into place and secured it using the wifi antenna. Meanwhile my computer has double sided tape and a piece of wood holding a drive in place.

I have a similar setup user.

The GPU I wanted to put in my G4 MDD has a dual slot heatsink, which would collide with the top optical drive bay. Solution? Cut the optical drive bay cage in half and reduce it to a single bay. Card fits now. Also notice the beautiful cardboard ducting for airflow redirection.

I also had to break off a retention lever on one of the ram slots. No problem, you can still max out the ram with three slots. And since the thing doesn't even support dual channel, you don't lose any performance.

Another one of my frankenG4s. This one is a Gigabit Ethernet with a CPU from a Quicksilver. Had to chop off a part of the heatsink, run a 12V line to a hole in the CPU module and cut one of the IDE connectors off the board.

There are technically risers - they are actually just spacers from a robotics kit but they just so happened to match the motherboard standoff holes in diameter.
And that's an old HD 7770, still runs modern games on low settings at decent fps

Pentium G4400, 4GB DDR4 (2133 MHz), 128 GB SSD, Asus H110M-E mobo. Only thing I bought directly bought for this build was the ssd, got it for like $40. It's my classroom build so my shit-head students can play Fortnite after the work is done (I make them pay $1 per round)

I have a 1060 superclocked by evga that runs way too loud imo. How would i go about rigging up a noctua fan or two onto it? Would i have to plug thrm into pwm headers instead
