I am a total normie. I Just want to have a portable laptop with good trackpad, solid battery life and doesn't overheat that has enough power to run intellij and webstorm at once.

Macs used to be the laptop I would look into but now their hardware is retarded. I dont' want to have a dongle just to connect a screen and a internet cable and a keayboard.

Newer ThinkPads actually have pretty respectable trackpads if you aren't a fan of using the clit mouse. They also meet your other criteria: you'll get a sensible array of ports, a good battery life, and I am not aware of any overheating issues.

Other business class laptops would offer similar features, if you don't want to fall for the ThinkPad meme.

I always hold out hope that Apple will remember that it still sells the 2014 Mac mini, with a spinning hard drive and the same big-ass chassis since 2010, for $500. And that it will finally give it the overhaul it's desperately needed for several years, with an ultracompact, flash-only form factor similar to the Apple TV or Intel NUC. A guy can dream, at least.
