Lol it just gets worse and worse. Im on a 44/10 real speed connection that costs $80/month unlimited. Its not as bad as it was a year ago but its still kinda trash.

Last year was 6/0.75 for $90/month and had a 200gb cap

>Downloads 10gb Fortnite update
>Downloads new games during steam sale
>Voice chats on discord and streams to twitch

They're talking about whales, you brainlet

Although the obvious solution would be to test how much speed you actually need and throttle users during peak hours

Sooo, which iinet bundled as tpg on telstra fttn copper wire plan are you on m8?

$69 a month flat unlimited. And NEVER dropped below 1.5mbp. Rarely went above but NEVER below.
Early evening where I am.. might as well be on dialup.

1 kid on yt and me shitposting That's it.

Gives me 14.28 Mbps but doesn't matter how many times I mash F5... slow af.

I've never been a Labour voter but fuck me at least Stephen Conroy had a fucking clue. When Based Tones killed the nbn and gave us this he took an even bigger steaming pile of shit and made it smell worse.

>yes goy gamers downloading a game once a month are the problem, don't worry about households streaming 50gb of content every evening through netflix

>cunts legit thought people wouldn't use the shit out of fixed wireless
>more fuckwit cunts think there's some magical wireless tech that will make fixed-line obsolete
brainlets, brainlets everywhere

also my fttp is nice, kek

Or you know we could have just installed fibre everywhere for the same price all this extra garbage costs

>everyone in australia has bad internet

Yeah just like everyone in the US has gigabit fibre right?

dumb cunts always speak for all of us

Barely anyone has a connection faster than 100mbps and most people are on like 25/5 plans

>Streams 1080p twitch while chatting on discord
>Buys a bunch of games in the weekly steam sale while his PS4 updates
>Likely torrents movies and anime

yes, somebody downloading 1 game a month is a whale

Absolute fucking brainlet

What came first

or

Cool ranch?

Really, Aussies be cucked with NBN. You were promised fiber and got glorified wi-fi.

Stop he didn't read the article and thinks it's about all gamers and not that many whale users happen to be gamers

>telstra gives 50/20 standard on plans
>optus same
>100mbit is $99-110

only reason most dont go to 100 now is cus the ACCC complained about speeds so they dont' offer unless they can guarantee you get it

Thats why they advertise "typical evening speeds" which are usually a little lower

Like I said. Say thanks to Based Tones.

WAS NEVER A THING FOR ME ON ADSL

Attached: 14385057837_62022a7810_h.jpg (1600x1157, 817K)

nah, fixed wireless was part of the early designs alongside fibre because fibre is not going to happen if you're rural (and building a dedicated LTE tower for the area starts looking like a cheap alternative)

cunts got fucked with glorified dsl though if they're not in the existing fibre areas

That's the reason why. Adal 2+ was always advertised as being huge speeds but we rarwly ever saw decent speeds

cool ranch

Rural area ir made sense sort of. Not inner city and costal though

$69 a month for 1.5mbps? I live in a third world shithole and I get 5mbps up/down for less than that.

>test how much speed you actually need and throttle users during peak hours
Or, you know, charge for the actual usage.

>NEVER dropped below 1.5mbp. Rarely went above but NEVER below.
>might as well be on dialup.

that was the adsl plan I had. I still have unlimited onsupposedly 15mps nbn with

Can we ban gamers from the internet? Would make this place a lot better.

fixed wireless was only ever meant to be for the sparsely-populated rural areas

trying to put towns and shit on it is just asking for trouble, they don't have all that much spectrum to use and the towers themselves only have so much bandwidth from the fibre or microwave links they're hooked into

move to fucking Austria
300/30 ---- € 60,-

New Zealand has faster internet than Australia
Pathetic really

I mention that streaming video is bandwidth heavy and your retort is that streaming video is bandwidth heavy, and I'm supposed to be the brainlet
if you've actually tried downloading large games on a Under subsequent questioning Mr Morrow claimed that NBN Co would not have information on the behaviour of end users to confirm they were gamers but referred to "people who do have familiarity with it".
gamers being bandwidth heavy is a scapegoat and isn't consistent with reality, pic related
I'm not even trying to defend gaymers, I just think you both vastly underestimate how common netflix and similar services are

Attached: bandwidth.png (1095x451, 63K)

NZ is tiny and fuck-all cunts live there, much cheaper market to serve than Straya

Most of the population of Australia is concentrated on the east coast, which in terms of area, is not a whole lot larger than NZ. Besides Perth, I don't think there are any other large population centres.
There is no excuse really. Your internet is garbage, and I'll be laughing with my reasonably priced unlimited gigabit.

Just for a test, i'm an actual third worlder and not even a fast one for my country.

So aussies, come at me with your speeds!

DAMN LIBS!

>90 Mbps
>faster than 98% of Australia

>100% of Australians do speed tests
>no one ever does a speed test when their internet is shit to see how fucked it is

That doesn't mean that your country's internet isn't shit.

>tfw fttp
I dealt with with 100kbps max until 2012 so you fucks can suffer in my place for a decade or two. Too bad the fastest plan is only 100/50.

Better than 98% of Australia apparently

>speed rating: emu

I'm Australian and the whole thing is a disgrace.
Australia is basically 6 big, fairly dense cities. There is no reason whatsoever why we can't have high-speed Internet like in Korea, etc.

The only reason is corruption and government incompetence. They just need to privatize the whole fucking thing and let the dinosaurs (Telstra, Foxtel) die a well-deserved death while new entrants provide better service.

They did that in France and now they have super fast Internet.

No serious internet user would choose to game on Australian wireless internet. Its optimized against QOS guarantees and latency, particularly on the upload side, and if there is any bottlenecking games are the first thing to drop. This is a feature of the particular 3 and 4G implementations. If people knew more about technology the NBN chief would be ridiculed for his comments, but he won't be. Sad.

It wasnt just that mate. Murdoch also had a little chat to abbott during the first election in NBN's implementation. The fiber itself is capable of 1000mb yet we get 100 max. Bit sus aint it?

>6 big dense cities thousands of km apart
>ignore it's mainly 1 dense city, seoul with high internet speeds

>As of 2017, South Korea had the fastest average internet connection in the world at 28.6 Mbit/s, according to the report State of the Internet published by Akamai Technologies

>10 people with 100mbit links, 50 people on 50mbit links or 1 cunt getting gigabit link

fibre can do practically any speed its the hardware at either ends

% of Australians do speed tests
m8 if that happened we'd be back in the stone age.

Was waiting for some Taswegians to start posting but then... isn't the cable still broken?
abc.net.au/news/2018-03-28/basslink-cable-offline-after-contractor-damage/9598996

It wasn't even that suss. It was literally a case of Tones not being able to do the maths and just said
>nah fuggit we'll leave the copper infrastructure in place, and do cable to the house - that's cheaper!

Attached: samantha-armytage-1103231.jpg (1920x1080, 261K)

BR here, and i will tell you the future if you privatize your internet.

You see, when broadband first came to brazil, it was handled by only one company, telefonica.
While it is a private company, it basically inherited ALL the brazilian telephony from telesp/telerj etc.. basically our government handed the monopoly over.
And with telefonica's speedy being the only option, 300KB/s maximum speed, 1GB monthly caps that when you violated, you would need to pay around 5 dollars per extra 100MB, which led many people to get 500-1000 dollar cap penalties.
But then something funny happened, the cable tv companies and mobile companies and other companies were allowed to compete, and as soon they stepped in, speed raised to 2MBPS all the cable companies, the cap got busted and is still busted as fuck on pretty much all non mobile ISPs, prices fell, and for a shithole like brazil, the internet is quite good.
So yes, privatize that shit, open competition, allow the free market to work it's magic on your country. At least for internet it work very fucking well, specially if your population is prone to pirating shit.

It does not matter than the cities are apart.
It's like saying that Paris and Moscow can't have fast Internet because they are apart.

Perth have their own links that are different from the trans-Pacific ones we have in Sydney.

The thing about density is the link between houses and the network. The big, long-distance cables are a solved problem.

Honestly, I've thought about doing this. I won't ever be able to afford a house here and I hear europe is significantly friendlier to renters and has a lower cost of living.

Problem is, Australia isn't part of the euro-union, so getting a visa is troublesome.

Attached: Capture-436-487x660.png (487x660, 151K)

>Bit sus aint it?
What are you implying?
Apart from saving money (the reason they gave at the time) I can't see how they would gain from limiting internet speeds

These people have to either be brown or someone of merit. So no chance since coons still cant understand phones yet.

>At least for internet it work very fucking well, specially if your population is prone to pirating shit.
You do know who you're talking to, right?

cnet.com/news/once-again-australia-leads-the-game-of-thrones-piracy-charge/

>Perth have their own links that are different from the trans-Pacific ones we have in Sydney.
Really? Well it's still shit.

Attached: 119004546.RR9TkZrb.110109RB80073.jpg (457x639, 112K)

Well, allow competition, get triple the internet speed.

Im implying if they delivered the speeds they originally planned on there would be massive amount of cable cutters and freeview would have to the way of the tv license just to survive. Also at this time fairfax and channel ten specifically ran a massive slam campaign against labor who were trying to deploy those speeds. Im not pro labor but i sense shenanigans. At least after all that 10 is still close to death, hopefully it happens sooner rather than later.

>dat ping
dsl faggotry?

Attached: u mirin cunce.png (350x200, 21K)

Guessing you're this hueposter
When the govt handed over the telco did that include the infrastructure and did the private companies that came after do anything to improve/upgrade?

Here Telstra is a quasi private concern. still "owned" by the govt but has it's own board and shareholders and essentially leases the hardware out to other isps. Most of whom probably wouldn't spend a cent on infrastructure but would happily gouge consumers for either "supposedly" faster speeds or bigger caps.

It's the infrastructure spending no one wants to face. the govt tried fucking dismally to with the nbn which has turned out to be the most expensive lemon any of us has bought.

Attached: uCZWkXD.jpg (1362x1999, 249K)

That makes some sense
It sounds to crazy to back old media conglomerates over the guaranteed stimulated economy that would occur by modernizing the internet
But that government was particularly insane

Privatizing would mean some large corporation would just game the fuck out of government and customers and pay huge monies while doing as little as possible. There is no incentive to build a good service.

Once upon a time, in more enlightened times, managers existed whose role was not to get rich or advance careers or make good numbers but to improve utilities for public i.e. everyone's good. More recently by happy accident of confluent motivation sometimes capitalism produces same result. Often not.

But what is needed is people put in (actually) charge who (actually) have mindset that they need to improve the product/service/utility in the most rational way. I don't know if such beings exist and doubt they could be inserted successfully.

only one real isp (verizon is dsl 1mbps only) but they're not too bad

Attached: 7365134501.png (350x200, 21K)

It reminds me of when I would try to use my parents' spyware infested laptop as a kid and get blamed 3 weeks later when it shit the bed.

It happened at least twice

>It's the infrastructure spending no one wants to face
While true, that is the exact same battle that has occurred everywhere else in the world

The REAL Australians should be given free unlimited fast internet (AbboNET) and the British land thieves should be limited to dial-up speeds. That would alleviate most of the problems.

Attached: aussie.jpg (1000x668, 356K)

Here's actually a gud take on where it went wrong
nbnmyths.wordpress.com/why-not-fttn/

Fuck me hindsight is 20/20

>t. fttn. copper wire out the front. Got an old foxtel box but it's too old and looking at over a grand to replace.

Not in a lot of Yourpoor. They managed to do it at cost with minimum of fuss
>inb4 distances mang!

Attached: 9537738035_6ee7cf7658_o.jpg (1600x2400, 1.07M)

Pretty much all the government is either bought out or working within their own personal interests on both sides. Whenever the PM gets too uppity and harms the interests of donors or other cabinet members they are swiftly replaced. Thats why we have malcom now. Also remember to removing negative gearing? Whatever happened to that?

The case i told you (the brazilian case) kinda counters your argument.
There is the huge incentive of getting your ass rammed by a rival network if you don't deliver the fastest and freer internet because the pirates will all move to the service that delivers game of thrones the fastest.
Unless the large corporation pay the government to make a law forbidding competition like in certain countries *AHEM*US*AHEM*, in this case free market just works.

So nobody gets it? All that remains anywhere within infastructure are english rape babies.

G'day

Attached: 7365147306.png (350x200, 21K)

Other isp's can already offer competition, his point was that nothing is being spent upgrading the infrastructure
Which is most of the problem

Your government is weird
The only two parties are either shilling for corrupt corporations or corrupt unions

Dont forget the smaller ones that latch themselves onto the larger parties so that team wins and whoever buys them out leverages them against the larger party and if they dont follow through they implode.

Errol and Edwin fuggin luv it bloke!

Attached: sallyann_011.jpg (500x750, 66K)

Fuck off. Your kind is going to make us the next 56% you dopey cunt.

I live in the Gold Coast, and am on a $60 a month plan for 100/50, unlimited NBN. Test in pic related was taken over a wifi, whilst downloading some other stuff in background. I get closer to 95/40 when I connect through ethernet, but can't be arsed to go downstairs right now. Admittedly, the download in the background wouldn't have affected it much, but my housemates are almost constantly streaming TV shows as well.

You can't get this deal anymore, I'd joined MyRepublic back when everyone thought they were a scam company from Singapore, when they were just really desperate to get customers their first Australian customers. The first couple months were a little rough, but I haven't had a problem since, and am enjoying first world country internet.

sure cunt

I've had the same IP since I moved to this house, eight months ago

have you tried turning it off then turning it on again

Mine changes about every day. And my router reports a different IP to the one google, and speedtest do (And no, I'm not talking about any sort of local address). It's really fustrating, because it blocks port forwarding, so I can't set up a temporary webserver for real life testing purposes.

Eat shit bucko you will be on 10mbps before the year is done.

if i wanted to change it, i'd have to walk to the other end of my house and wail on the UPS to kill power to the nbn shit

fibre doesn't fuck around

Muh ebin Twitch streaming :DDDDDDDDD

Quick "I know what you download" lookup, and it seems I've had this IP multiple times. I guess they just rotate it around. Let's play a game, who can guess which torrents are mine?

Gaymers need to be chemically castrated.

Consider it a blessing in disguise, Ausfags. With such bad internet across your bad island, you're forced to "socialise". I can only imagine how disproportionally fewer fat whales, shut-ins, and virgins you have as a result of it.

You're more wrong than you can imagine. Its just the same but with more bitching about speeds.

This
