I'm thinking of getting a macbook. I've used windows and linux all my life; windows is a bit too much of a shitshow, and linux is too much maintenance, I don't like any of the DEs, and I always end up breaking it enough that I can't be bothered to fix it.
I haven't used a mac since high school, my audio teacher had some antiquated version on the computers, so I don't really have an idea of what it's like these days, but it seems like an impossibly good combinations of a usable terminal and NIX environment with a straightforward interface and proprietary software support. I can handle the limitations and babying, I definitely prefer them to reading fucking docs and messing with X11 confs all day.

Depends how much you have to spend. I'd be happier with an old unibody running Snow Leopard than most Windows machines. Windows 10 is disgusting and I've literally just had my first major inconvenience from LTSB, an update I didn't do rendered the thing 'old' and now I have windows activation issues, servers are packed and I'm currently maxing out my bandwidth with torrents for the next few hours. It's nice to go full Apple, as in, the phone, computer at least and maybe something like a Mac Mini home server.
I'm not sure what you'll think of current High Sierra, or upcoming Mojave, people guess that;ll be the name .

Get homebrew, iTerm2 (Or Cathode if you have autism) and oh-my-zsh.

Mac is the only commercially successful desktop implementation of Unix and this makes Loonix users very upset. BSD (Which Darwin is forked from) is a much more solid implementation of Unix anyway. Linux is a clusterfuck in comparison to BSD.
