If you want help
>State the budget & CURRENCY for your build
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g. photo editing, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

Overclocking
>Use Precision Boost 2 offsets to overclock Ryzen 2000X series!
>Delid i5/i7 -K series

CPUs
>R3 2200G - Bare minimum gaming (dGPU optional)
>R5 2400G - Consider IF closer to 2200G price
>R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs
>i7-8700K - Best for gaming, but most expensive when factoring in delid, high end cooler, etc.
>R7 2700/X - Best high-end mixed usage on a non-HEDT platform
>Threadripper/Used Xeon - VM Work / Streaming / Video editing

Motherboards
>Don't buy A320 (All Ryzen is unlocked)
>Only Z-series Intel boards can utilize fast memory

RAM
>8GB - Enough for most gaming use
>16GB - Heavy usage/mutitasking
>32GB+ - If you have to ask, you don't need this much
>Current CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal

Graphics cards
>MSRP of standard 1080p cards: 1050Ti, 140USD; 1060 6GB, $230; RX 560, $115; RX 570 4GB, $170; RX 580 8GB, $220+
1080p
>GTX 1050Ti, 1060 3/6GB, or RX 570/580; currently overpriced
>GTX 1070/Vega 56 if you're looking for very high (100+) fps & you have a CPU + monitor to match
1440p
>GTX 1070/Ti, 1080, or Vega 56/64; currently overpriced
>GTX 1080Ti if you're looking for very high (100+) fps & you have a CPU + monitor to match
2160p
>GTX 1080Ti

Storage
>Consider getting a larger SSD (better price/GB) instead of small SSD & large HDD.
>m.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard

Monitors
>2K is not 1440p
>Always consider FreeSync with AMD cards
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING

Vega56 isn't currently overpriced, tho.
$500 was their non-promotional MSRP and most AIB cards launched above that.
I don't know why AMD thought that promotional MSRP was a good idea, other than that the cards underperformed at launch with their immature drivers.

Second for $300 cosplay escort better than waisting that money for 15% more FPS.

>>Vega56 isn't currently overpriced, tho.
Does that mean its unlikely to drop any lower? I fell for the Just Wait™ meme, I have a GTX 680 that I got in 2012. I'll buy at $500 if that's what it's gonna be, but I've Wait™ed this long, so who cares if I have to Wait™ another month to save another fifty bucks.

Attached: Just Wait™ for a bit longer....png (1487x1371, 1.22M)

Do it user, I waited 8 years and just pulled the trigger on Vega 64 at $570.

I don't see why they bother saying what model the 1070 ti is because all AIB cards are running stock clocks anyway. If they want to include the model name they should just OC the thing to the max so we know if the cooler is any good based on the performance.

Cheapest CPU that could run BotW at 1080p 60fps?

I5-8400 but you should be getting a I5-8600K.

best modular psu? is it the seasonic?

Seasonic make the best psus so yeah. Just get the cheapest seasonic psu that satisfies the requires wattage you need.

Calm your autism please
Probably EVGA's G3 models

Attached: illust_49445284_20180604_201428.png (877x1050, 454K)

Doesnt EVGA just rebrandeon the Seasonics?

No, they rebrand Superflower and HEC PSUs.

My build powers up then nothing.

amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS53VR5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Heres my board, got a Ryzen 3 2200g in it. Feeling pretty frustrated and out of it.
This is my first matx build and the space contraint pissed me off so bad I yanked it all out of the case to troubleshoot.
I had to save for this and i've had it built for 5 days now and haven't even had time to fuck with it.

I went through some 22 step checklist of why you're not booting from google and none of them are applicable.

Technically they do, EVGA GS PSUs are seasonic.

If motherboard and HSF fans spin but nothing works its because the motherboard is not updated for Ryzen 2200 series, also that is a bad motherboard.

Do I need a CPU to update it?
What's bad about the motherboard? I didn't know it had LEDs which is fairly annoying. But it had 4 ram slots for $80 which seemed fine for me.

i'll get the seasonics then.

Means it's not posting, which could well mean the B350 bios needs an update. Is the MB at least lighting up if it should?

Lacks top VRM heatsinks which is enough to consider it as a bad motherboard.
AMD will send you one for free.
support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/2Gen-Ryzen-AM4-System-Bootup.aspx

Or you could also RMA your current CPU for a 2000 series ready one like ASRock Pro 4.

Meant to reply to

I hope you mean motherboard because that's some shit advice

G3 is a Super Flower rebrand
Their other models can be from other sources though which is also true for Corsair and various other brands
>Heat Sink/Fan fans
Could also mean your memory isn't working with the SoC or that you don't have CPU power plugged correctly

>Lacks top VRM heatsinks which is enough to consider it as a bad motherboard.
Meh, this was an extremely modest poorfag build. I wanted to use the rest of the parts for an eventual i5 build where I just take this mobo out and pop in a new one.
It's been such a headache these past few days.
After getting eye cancer from MSI's site that is clearly designed for phones I found the bios, and apparently I can flash them with a USB.
Pretty fucking gay desu. Their site, the LEDs, the way their BIOS menu looks. First and last time I buy an MSI board.

Hey, so if the board doesn't support the CPU and I have to update the BIOs for it to do so do I need to take out the CPU to flash the BIOS?

If your CPU isn't supported you need to use a different CPU to boot into BIOS so you can flash the newest revision

Depends in the motherboard, shitty ones do, and in your case, yes.
AMD gives you one for free to do it.

Gonna RMA the board and go for the suggested one earlier. Thanks for all the help. Probably should have gotten advice on my build but I thought I wasn't this retarded.
MSI and AMD are big gays. My case is shit too.

Attached: kill me.jpg (600x600, 16K)

It isn't MSI or AMD's fault that this happens; having (worthwhile) compatibility on a socket for more than one generation is abnormal in the industry
If anything it's the retailer's fault for not updating stock

Attached: __christmas_elf_and_iris_original_drawn_by_erubo__a9b2d899e16ea143aa251c8460f0cb02.png (600x825, 352K)

MSI is at fault for having a shitty phone website full of rice and putting LEDs on a board they claim is Ryzen 2000 series ready when it isn't because of Amazon.
AMD is at fault for roping me in with their meme integrated graphics.
I'm at fault for being alive and trying to buy something that I want.

Or maybe Intel didn't give them enough shekels

is a r9 290 with a custom AIO for like $200 worth it?

nvm found a 290x for $140

560 ti for $50, good deal? Unsure if it's new or used, co-worker mentioned he had one "laying around in a box".

What happened to the /pcbg/ builds that used to be in the OP?

Is there any reason, double fan aside, to get right over left? I'd save ten euros with the aero

Attached: 1.png (1188x1062, 275K)

Haggle him down to about $40, unless it's brand spanking new, $50 is a bit too much.

>got gtx 760
>path of exile runs rather shit
>want to upgrade

how much of a difference is there between gtx 1050 and 1060?

Do i realistically lose anything by not going for Palit cards over ANUS/MSI/EVGA etc. other than gay lights and useless monitoring screens? Palit is way cheaper in the shithole where i live.

>pc would cost 1080$ in the us
>costs 1200 euros in europe, translates to 1400 dollars
Sure is great living here :^)

get the cheapest 1050ti you can get, they are all the same

no. its the same cards.

Is the upcoming AM4 B450 socket worth the wait? I'm building an R7 2700X computer and want to know if I should wait a bit longer for one or buy a different mobo?

Attached: X470 B450.jpg (1280x720, 175K)

I've been running a pretty standard polarity fluctuation thermionic setup for about 2 years now, and while I've never gotten the kind of output spectra professional rigs get, it's good enough for a hobbyist. With the 2018 safety spec's change to Maximum Permitted Shell Polarization, my ventilator module is officially not up to standard any more. Is it worth trying to upgrade, or should I simply purchase a brand new off-the-shelf unit? My primary use-case is sub-hermetic segmentation for a 2500K-level bridger.

>2700X
x470

its the same socket. also, if you're getting 2700X, its worth getting an x470 mobo for it.

>2700x
>b450
you should really be getting an x370 or x470, 2700x pulls a lot of power so you want good VRMs

XFR2 is on-chip, as is Precision Boost. What XFR2 >Enhanced< does is (as far as I know) unknown and not implemented. What Precision Boost >Overdrive< does is apparently just a slightly smarter version of Precision Boost that can adjust boost clock based on additional variables such as the VRMs.

hardocp.com/article/2018/05/01/precision_boost_overdrive_xfr_enhanced_confusion
> Your motherboard maker might be implementing overclocking with similar naming conventions, but these features are not officially supported by AMD.

Another advantage is that I THINK the 4xx series chipsets offer a free StoreMi premium license or whatever.
Besides this, there're rumours about better VRMs. I think that's all.

Attached: AM4 chipset overview.jpg (1566x750, 195K)

Poozen is a cpu for brown people who don't care about single core perf because they never emulate anything and just play cancer fotm multiplayer games.

If you want the BEST, Seasonic Prime probably tops the list(although some of the ones manufactured by Superflower are arguably on par). You know, assuming you're willing to spend that much on a PSU.

is PBO straight up not available outside of x470?

Does anyone have any experience with Inno3D gpus? Am I going to start a fire if I buy one?

As if poozen doesn't suck at those too. It's only good for jerking off at benchmarks. Also posting crying wojaks on Jow Forums.

How does HDR factor into the whole 'content creators want a monitor with good colors' thing?

Vega 56 should be competing with the 1070

Hello Jow Forums, can someone help me build a decent pc? My budget is around 500~600 USD.
I don't know shit about computers but so far I've asked a friend and he sent me this list.
I'll be mainly using it for gaming (Dota2 and CS:GO mainly) and very light photo/video editing.

Attached: 001.png (543x140, 9K)

uhmmmm, ryzen 5 what? 2400G? just get a b350 motherboard for it. power supply is too much too, lower it to 450~550W

your friend is possibly an idiot
what hardware are you reusing from an older build?

What the fuck?
Path of Exile runs fine on my friends like $300 5 year old APU computer.
It's probably your lack of SSD giving you problems.
RX560 or GTX1050 will run that game more than fine.

Single fan is technically fine for 1050Ti. But you shouldn't be paying more than like 150euro for one before tax.

Only reason to wait is to hope for decent mATX boards that are still >4 core phases.

Why did you not read his post?
PB2/XFR2 is on the chip itself.
PBO works on 2000 series CPUs as long as you b350 board has a BIOS update to support it.

No, Vega56 competes with the 1070ti/1080. Steve just doesn't know how to overclock and was also using the reference Vega56 blower.

>single core
2700X outdoes the 6600k in Dolphin which is single core. Lmao.

Looks fine, but you might want to wait for b450 boards to save some money.
Also yes, get a 450-550w PSU. Something semi or fully modular and gold rated if it's not too much money (those PSUs are often on sale).

>very light photo/video editing
>that build

Oh boy..

reposting from /sqt/

Some old as fuck server in our office died yesterday, it wasn't a big deal since we're migrating to a different cloud system but we still need to access what's in there for at least the rest of the month, and there's no replacement available here.

the IT department suggested an i3 7100, 8GB RAM 2400Mhz, Gigabyte B250M and a 1TB disk.

Now, keep in mind this is in a shithole 3rd world country, so every cent counts.

I suggested cutting the disk down to 500GB and the RAM to 4GB. Beyond that, are there any decent replacements to the mobo/processor for a cheaper machine?

Huh? 2400G is fine for light video editing.

Games aren't usually written in assembly now days.

>Dolphin which is single core
Dolphin technically uses three threads, but you're probably right that it's single core limited. I haven't used it myself, so I wouldn't know.
dolphin-emu.org/docs/faq/#which-cpu-should-i-use

G4560 and G5400 are almost as powerful as the i3, unless you need ECC RAM or other features the i3 has and pentiums lack.

I plan to game on 1080p monitor and my budget is

Attached: Untitled.png (1339x330, 38K)

>3GB great

>recommending no SSD with an 8400 or any build for that matter

>Huh? 2400G is fine for light video editing.

I'm not worried about the cpu. What resolution will the video's for the editting be at? What does that guy mean with 'light video editting'.

thank much, building a machine around that processor literally cuts down the price in more than half

Is a founders edition 1060 6gb worth $300?

I've been waiting like 2 months to build a new PC and I'm still hung up on graphics cards

How about the GTX1060 6gb?
>recommending no SSD with an 8400 or any build for that matter
Can you rephrase that?

Get the 1060 6gb
Get the 2600x
1TB hard drive
The cheaper 250GB solid state drive
The seasonic power supply
For the case get a phanteks p400s

If you wanted to save like £80 you could just get the 2600 and a b350m mobo and do manual overclocking to 4.2 ghz. That £80 can be spent on a other 8GB RAM which is pretty important nowadays.

Appreciate the reply thank you.

>The seasonic power supply
Which one?

uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/N9vnpG

Get a cheaper case to bring the price down. You can bring the price down further by getting a micro atx motherboard and case like

based amdrone poster

I'd go with this, you could get the L5 Lite 3D 120GB to stay at £800

The Strix B350-F might need a BIOS update, you can get a free bootkit from AMD or save up for the X470 Aorus Ultra

Although gtx 1066 is a better buy

I'm into Videography and Photography and my 2TB external USB3 drive has reached the limits of its capacity and I want to seperate my Photo/Video stuff (Including all my project files for the photo/video editing programs etc.) to something bigger and maybe more secure.
I looked into NAS (right now I dont work over the network, and I dont plan to) and other stuff.
Is there some sort of external device that needs not its own OS to run on that turns any HDD I insert into an external drive via USB3 and also has several ports to maybe use it as a RAID array?

I'm wanting to build a PC and... people don't put optical drives in PCs anymore? Because I would like one, but every guide I look at neglects mentioning it, all cases I see don't seem to have space for one... are external optical drives worth it price-wise?

ark.intel.com/products/148263/Intel-Core-i7-8086K-Processor-12M-Cache-up-to-5_00-GHz
i7-8086K is the new best gaming CPU. Too bad it's an anniversary version and only 50000 will be made.

No. What makes you think it would be? Especially when you can get an RX580 8GB for just $25 more.

>I've been waiting like 2 months to build a new PC and I'm still hung up on graphics cards
Should have been checking prices everyday, or set up alerts. There's been RX580s and 570s in the $200-$260 range the past few weeks. But the past week the prices went up again.

6GB is fine, yes.
>Can you rephrase that?
SSD is a minimum requirement for a lot of games now days, sadly. You can load too slow and just get kicked from the server with a HDD.
You don't have to get a higher end one like WD Blue, MX500, SU900, but you at least need one that's not complete shit.

Any semi modular or fully modular. Non-modular is not worth the hassle.

Nitro+, Red Devil, Strix. Gaming X is fine, too.
Those Armor Mk2 look like a big improvement over the original Armor as long as they're cheap.

>Although gtx [1060] is a better buy
How? It'll take decades of use to spend more on electricity with the RX580 than Gsync costs.

>several ports to maybe use it as a RAID array
I don't know what this means.

Why do you want one? I haven't used one in almost a decade. USB thumb drives are a thing. There are still cases with slim optical drive mounts and stuff. I'd still avoid the typical 5.25" bays as they make for inefficient case layouts.

>people don't put optical drives in PCs anymore?
Every game and most mediums (audio, video...) are dematerialized anyway, Windows licences are USB and BluRay is a fucking scam on PC. Generally you keep an optical drive only for backwards compatibility purposes, like dumping your old music collection.

>all cases I see don't seem to have space for one
Then your search isn't throughout enough.

I don't use it anymore but the Enthoo Pro M or the Focus G has space for them
